If there's stock in your region, I think the 6750 XT and 6800 XT are still better bang for buck than any of these three. Given a choice among only these three though, the 7700 XT seems most attractive to me.

I am very much enjoying my 4060Ti; I multitask and use various apps for productivity, so I'll take the performance of my card still. That said, the 7700XT is very strong at rasterization. But I don't just game with my rig. From here, I'd just get a 4070 Super or really just wait for the 50-series.

You convinced me, rx 7700 is so good that you better buy a 7800 xt, 7900 gre or an rx 6800/xt. But a free RTX 4060 ti 16gb like yours seems better deal and only complaint left is the model name, which in fact has less offset than AMD's 7600/xt, half leap far from correct name... But 7700 xt is almost 5/8 thsof an inch close to the proper generation leap ... 7800xt (aka 6800 refresh, is what an rx 7700/xt should've had to be). 7700 xt is such a good 6660xt or 6700 substitute, just let it arrive at those prices...

I managed to get an Asus Dual RTX 4060 Ti 16GB late last year for $405 and have been very happy with it, but it's hard to deny how good of a deal the RX 7700 XT is right now. If you're just a gamer looking for the best performance-per-dollar in the budget-midrange right now, the 7700 XT is a very compelling product.

Like you're pretty much saying, the midrange prices are pretty high these days, so something under $400 would be considered a more affordable midrange option in my opinion. It's a shame we have so few cards available in the *actual* entry/budget range of $200 or less. It's basically just GPUs from previous generations.

It really has no legs at 1440p though. Like it works solid now in most games but two years in youre using medium settings or stuck with FSR image quality. Youre just better off buying a 6800 or 6800XT right now or reaching into the 4070 and up tier for nvidia imo. You can get a 6800 for $360 in the US right now

If you have the budget to buy a 4070 you should just choose 7800XT which is slightly cheaper and performs better. The only reasonable alternative option for 7700XT is 6800XT, but they are becoming harder to find.

The 7600 XT is kind-of in an odd spot in the U.S. I got a 6750 XT 12gb for a similar price last week which consistently outperforms it. The 7600 XT does have more VRAM at 16gb but I highly doubt it'll ever make much use of more than 12.

I was considering buying a 7600xt at one point. Then I seen the benchmarks with it compared to the 7600, 7700xt, and 6700xt. The RX 7600xt is basically a RX 7600 with another 8gb vram added. Which I found very disappointing. The 6700xt/6750xt are great cards only I can't buy them new anymore in my Country (Australia). I don't understand why AMD aren't trying to gain market share off of Nvidia.

I managed to get a NEW “open box” RTX 4070 (Zotac o/c) (non-Super) dual fan model for a very price of a higher end RTX 4060Ti 16gb here in Australia 🇦🇺 only a few weeks after the 4070’s launch, with a free game and I’m very happy with its performance 🥰💪😇👍. Got myself an rx 7600 xt paired with r5 5600 which is the best upgrade from the rtx 2060 for me. I've been building a new PC, and part of that process was swapping out my RXT 3080 for an RX 6600 in my old system. It's been pretty solid for the most part. In a world where most people go with Nvidia without a second thought, it's good to see videos where people explain how little sense it makes to go Nvidia for the midrange right now. The 4060, 4060 ti, and 4060 ti 16 gb have been embarrassing value propositions for this entire generation. Now that AMD has lowered prices, they make even less sense.

Not even close around launch in Germany one of the better ones was around 1.1k. I got mine ( XFX RX7900XT Merc 310 Black Edition) in the week after Christmas 2022 for 1,049 Euros. (Could not avoid buying one, colleague wanted the old PC, including the RTX 2060 6GB in it, which offset the insane price somewhat.) It's now 769 Euros, that's 280 Euros cheaper. You can get the non BE for 729, the ASUS TUF 7900XT for 753 Euros and the Powercolor Hellhound for 699. Tax included on those prices. In that price bracket I would go gor the ASUS one though, good cooler, no coil whine. The 7900XTX can be hand for under 1k now, around launch it was 1.4-1.6k. Agreed though, it should cost less.

Hello Fábio, thank you for the benchmarks.I also have just one question, did you manage to fix VRAM overclocking on rx 7700 xt.I cant even overclock it by 1mhz without it causing me issues which makes no sense, could it be the driver problem, or?I installed everything correctly(DDU the old driver),temps are below 65 celcius, and voltages are also stable on the core with power limit set to maximum.Also wanted to mention, i cant even use fast timings without issues also.

@@BBB-999 I would never recommend a 6000 card over the equivalent 7000 card unless budget was a strict issue. The 7000 cards are pulling further and further away from the 6000 cards in a lot of newer games, AI and RT are becoming more prevalent and the 7000 cards are more efficient. The 6800xt uses a good bit more power than the 7800xt does, this is down to reporting differences. The 7900GRE is nice, but it's also less efficient than the 7800xt.

Before watching I estimate the 4060Ti 16GB is equal to a 6750XT 12GB and about 20 fps slower than the 7700XT. Now i watch and see how accurate my assumptions are. Edit: Just about nailed it. Note: The 8700XT/8800XT will drop in early 2025 for the same MSRP as the 7700XT/7800XT MSRP driving the prices of the older gen much lower. Wait until 2025 to buy when the 7000XT series will be just a few month past one year from release. Great work Fabio, really useful purchase data for consumer.

I'd still rather have the 4060 ti. It's important to know there are titles where the 4060ti perform better than the 7700xt that are not on this list. It's not always the picture painted here. The 7700xt on average is faster tho overall. But, faster how? That's where the choice becomes difficult. You're getting a lesser product from the AMD side overall. Vastly inferior upscaling. It's quite impressive how good DLSS looks. Even on balanced it looks so good. Of course FG always works well, where as AMDS is always hit or miss. For streaming the 4060ti is also quite a bit better, and recording. And in any game that has ray tracing, you will see quite a better experience with upscaling. A choice one can make on the 4060 ti, that the 7700xt can partially do. But, with this said if I were to build a system for someone given the glitchy nature of AMD cards and bipolor nature of their drivers I'd put a 4060 ti in their machine instead. I had to return the 7900 gre I had. Audio cut out issues via HDMI to a tv, Driver timeouts, World of warcraft crashing (still exists despite their patch) Fallout Nevegas crashing. Emulation issues. You're getting a much more complete package on the 4060 ti. To speak simply it will always work. While the other not so much. Hell divers 2 recently was a fine example of the random and bipolor nature of owning an AMD card. that extra 10-20fps isn't always there for the 7700xt. Choose carefully.

Well put. I also had these similar issues with my 7900xt. i too wanted to play fallout 3. Driver timeouts left and right. My overclock was stable, then in the very same games after a driver update it wasn't any longer. As you say their "Bipolar" drivers is truly the best way to put it. It also used so much power it was wild. I had other issues as well. I simply returned it with joy and got a 4070 super. Overclocked it and it's amazing. DLSS really does look so freaking good. Now all my games work. Always.

That's a way to put, I have different experiences though. Streaming and recording is basically on par now with av1, and other things you meantioned don't make much sense, but I get that some people might have different experiences from mine. Want those features better? Get at least a 4070

Try testing DLSS enabler mod, I'm playing Allan wake 2 with path tracing medium, noise reduction medium, graphic settings custom (VRAM issues) 1080p XeSS Quality, AMD Frame generation. It gives me around 60-80 fps with an rx 7600. But again must be carefull with the VRAM usage couse when its full the FPS turn down to 20-30 Maybe testing the mod with other games and other graphic cards idk :D

Rumors said RX8000 will be focus on 3 thing 1) lower price 2) ray tracing 4) energy consumption Rumours also stated 8800XT will have same performance as 7900 GRE which is slower than 7900XT So i don't think AMD focusing on performance for RX8000, it's remind me RX400 back in 2016. But according to rumours AMD will use new architecture for RX9000 or whatever their named it. After months of testing with my 7800xt Asus tuf my card is only fully stable in everything at 1125mv so almost stock voltage (only -25mv), I must have gotten pretty unlucky with the silicon cuz I keep hearing Reddit people can do -100mv fully stable like WHAT that's crazy.

You know a lot of people are coming from GPUs like the GTX 950 (what I had for years) and the 1060. And have a steam library that has games that a well under 8GB. For some strange reasons some gamers think all gamers want to play the latest AAA games. Protip we don't. A lot of games that are 5 years and older are well way more fun to play. And the 4060 plays them all just fine. Why do you think the 4060 has out sold AMD. It is what people are grabbing off the shelves to play the older games.

Specific scenarios like where most of your budget can only go with the launch price of rx 7700xt which is the price fo 4060ti 16gb right now and also about electricity and outlet issue. I have a friend where his outlet suffers even running a 1070 , we are in a 3rd world so that happens unless he plans to move out to a city area which he's planning later on. If Amd manage to make a card that as power efficient as rx 6600 and a performance on par with rx 7700xt for the Rx 8000 series, this specific scenarios will get eliminated even more for the 4060ti

So I've never experienced Ray Tracing and would like to, IN this case would the 4060ti 16gb be a good choice? I dont have enough for a 4070... so the 4060ti is what I was looking at to test it out.

Raytracing isn’t worth it at this price point. Technically the 4060ti could do raytracing, just not very well

@@idkwhattohaveasausername5828 In practical terms it could be possible even with path tracing but would require quality and balanced DLSS, performance, depending on resolution to be usable at 30-47 FPS depending on the game, all However, you still need reasonable and best graphics settings with FG

I would also suggest looking at other sources, but look at the results in this video for games you play (or plan to) and decide from there what is best to purchase. GPU comparisons are very case-by-case.

Lossless frame gen is awesome, I find you need a minimum of 47 to 50 fps to have the controls/input lag somewhat match the smoothness on screen. There are still artifacts on the heads of third person titles with LSFG 2.1, which isn't that bad for the trade off. I find FSR 3 and DLSS to be almost on par in many cases, you have to really look hard to notice the difference with DLSS.

Thank you for your hard work! In my humble opinion, Nvidia benchmarks in 2024 make no sense without using DLSS and FG if those tech are available especially since DLSS ends up looking better than native most of the time because of blurry TAA. Please include FSR / DLSS comparisons too!

Dlss doesn't look better than native lol, especially some parts with lots of issues like ghosting in some particles... like in hellblade 2... and frame gen is good but still adds artifacts...in fact, fsr3 fg is better thsn nvidia's fg...let's agree to disagree haha

@@AncientGameplays In my opinion, Nvidia's FG performs better, the artifacts created are less noticeable and less when compared to AMD's FG, but with AMD's FG being available on multiple GPUs, yes it is superior in Availability. In my opinion, if AMD still follows Nvidia instead of becoming the leader in innovation, after a few generations it will probably be the RTX 7000 when the popularity of the RTX 4000 series is higher to replace the old GPUs, Nvidia's FG will always be. available + DLSS new versions I think AMD's market share will become even smaller

@@chien.nguyen. Not really, FG and DLSS from Nvidia are already cooked, AMD FG came out 6 month ago and FSR is outdated since 18 months, literally with just FSR3.1 the difference will be much smaller, AMD has much more improvement than Nvidia right now.

A lot of people look at channels like Braethorn, ShadowGamingPC, Gamers Nexus, Pauls Hardware etc. And People you know can and do read a box. And when they learn one thing draws more power than another. They will pick the thing that draws less power. I was one of those people. I live in the Southern US. I want my PCs to run power efficient. The 4060 was power efficient and the AMD cards weren't. Add in the fact that all my games don't even use close to 8GB of Vram sealed the deal for me. And like it or not a lot of people want to save money over time. Not just on a one time buy.

true, in this case, overall, they are superior in RT, BUT, in some cases DLSS just isn't worth the extra money. NVIDIA cards are excellent cards, just poorly priced... the only cards that REALLY make sense are the 4080Super and 4070 Super IMO

Personally I would prefer, even though it's older, the RX 6800 Core. Yes in some situations the RX7700XT and the 4060ti 16GB can outperform the RX 6800 Core, mind you it's through technology features not active performance of the hardware. In hardware only relevant testing the RX6800 Core absolutely trounces both of these video cards and even the RX 7800 XT in niche cases. For under 400 USD nothing beats the RX 6800 Core at 359.99 USD.

The RDNA2 media stack is garbage though. If you intend streaming or doing any kind of video encoding work then RDNA3 is much preferred. Even Alchemist is much better here.

I just started to wonder.. I remember you are doing a video on a driver overhead. Would it be possible for you to measure CPU power consumption and power at the wall (even with a cheap power meter)? I've seen multiple videos where even 7800X3D consumes 30-40 watts more with NV card than AMD card, even when delivering lower FPS. It seems to me it's an overlooked thing. GPUs aren't working in a vacuum. Driver is a key part of a GPU, so why so many reviewers check GPU power only, when talking about perf/watt? Doesn't seem logical to me. Anyway, thanks! Seems to me like both cards perform generally more or less the same, the 4060ti at least where I live is over 20% cheaper and has a big pro that it is an NVIDIA card, I am not sure how well for example using CUDA on AMD cards works, but it could be troublesome if not impossible?

Hi @Ancient Gameplays can you help me? here's my problem i have a 7900 xt video card and i got the amd pa 300 error code again i set the video card at the bottom but the error persists, i tried to put older adrenaline on it but it didn't help , windows update is disabled, i have repeatedly cleaned and reinstalled the drivers with ddu but the error persists after a few minutes of playing the screen goes black and when i restart the machine pa 300 error code. any ideas? Thanks in advance. or anyone have any tips?

The use case for the 4060ti 16gb is parallel farming of generative workloads on the cheap - nothing more, nothing less. Yes, you can buy it for gaming but that isn't why NV offers a reference design. Blame board partners for exploiting ignorant consumers but to laugh at it as a product is missing the point entirely - it offers unrivaled tensor per dollar per watt value - but of course it's hardly surprising that Joe Schmoe home gamer would wank over frames per second metrics to the exclusion of anything else. If it isn't meant for you then don't buy it. Simples.

It was interesting for me to see that my tweaked _XFX Merc Black rx6750xt_ (uv+oc+sam) it's: -performing worse than both the rx7700xt and the 4060ti in r24 with 8k pts, -but in terms of raw performance in all the rest it's: 3-4% better than the rtx4060ti, but 5-6% worse than the the rx7700xt. I currently crush maxed 1080p@144Hz and i'll keep doing that until: 4k@144Hz becomes affordable (gpus and monitors), while 1440p@144Hz becomes mainstream like 1080p today. edit: i hope rdna6/rtx70 will be goated.

@@AncientGameplays depends on the game and on the silicon of the chip, i have friends with both 7700xt and 4060ti cards. In 1080p raster my tweaked card sits in between of those 2 cards left stock.
