Thats your only year of fame. Congrats on your 1st ever bcs bowl game appearance and your 1st ever bowl game win. Us Sooner fans find it amazing that you Poke fans get soooooo excited over just 1 win. When we sit here and its just a natural routine that we win, its nothing new for us to embarrass you guys year after year, we are used to it. But find it really strange that winning 1 game is such a godly high accomplishment, congrats for setting your goal so high....

ryan broyles is going to dominate in the nfl like he did in college
@OUfootballAuthority12 жыл бұрын
I haven't really seen anything about what Kendal Thompson can do, but I am excited about Blake Bell. He is a big guy that has defenses terrified about his running capabilities because he runs it right at you and not one team figured out a way to stop him. I'm still wondering though, how well he can make decisions on throwing. Trey Metoyer definantly proved he has a bright futer. It's good to be a Sooner, aint it?
@OUfootballAuthority12 жыл бұрын
We're not arguing, just debating. No matter what we're on the same side.You're 100% right about Broyles and his abilities. Their are many plays in OU's arsenal that played off his greatness. I was just dissapointed because I really thought that Jazz Reynolds, Dejuan Miller, and Kenny Stills could handle the load and make great plays. But let's be honest, the biggest dissapointment last season was the defense. And now that Mike Stoops is back, I feel alot better about the defense not faultering.

1) A shoulder injury and a knee injury are two totally different injuries. No one knows for sure how a person will heal from a torn ACL. Willis Mcgahee came back fine from a totally destroyed knee suffered against OSU in the 2003 Fiesta Bowl whereas Jason White never came back from a non-contact knee injury. This is very similar to what happened to Ryan Broyles BTW. #2 Bradford tore it up at his pro-day. Any questions as to what he could/couldn't do were put to rest that day.
@soonerdave0112 жыл бұрын
I've gone back and watched a lot of the videos on here of Broyles since this conversation got started and Broyles is ridiculously wide open on so many plays it's just crazy. No one within ten yards is a lot of cases. I'm really not sure what you folks are looking at.

Not just Broyles man but Ronell Lewis, Travis Lewis, Ben Habern, Dominique Whaley, we had alot of injuries.
@OUfootballAuthority12 жыл бұрын
So what he's not the prototypical wide reciever, neither is Hines Ward. Broyles has got decent speed and has outstanding hands. And anyone will tell you he is one of the best at getting seperation. This was hugely apparent after he got injured and the offense sputtered, mainly because Jones had a hard time finding a target. I know when Broyles goes to the pros, his talent is going to show. So let that be the end of all debates.
@soonerdave0112 жыл бұрын
Thank you for bringing up FSU which changed_up_their_coverage and shut down Broyles even with their best DB outta the game. You make this too easy my man :-D
@hfelton12 жыл бұрын
He looks to have made an outstanding rehab. My team, the Giant, needs a replacement for the departed Mario Manningham and Broyles sure would fit the bill. Several respected mock drafts have him going in the mid to late 3rd round, so I hope the Giants use one of their two fourth round picks to move up in the third and take Broyles.
@OUdidntknow8412 жыл бұрын
the CB and strong saftey were playing man coverage. But the lb's were playing zone. If you cant see that i dont know what else to say.
@soonermagic2412 жыл бұрын
i dont want to get into a youtube argument with a fellow sooner fan here.. im just saying broyles on the field allows other players to get open, and he makes everyone around him better.. thats just a fact.. they have to use different defense packages depending on where broyles played.. including 2008 when he went to slot..
@soonermagic2412 жыл бұрын
well ou's future looks good.. with the addition of that Trey metoyer, sterling shepard, and RB Alex ross.. all 3 stud players.. And when landry jones leaves maybe that Kendal thompson might jump in, and play OB for us.. that kid can scramble, throw on the run, and hes extremely accurate.. he reminds me of RG3 only lefty!
@themadlad85404 жыл бұрын
well this comment didn'tage well other then sterling shepard
@soonerdave0112 жыл бұрын
OU rushes four and everyone else, save the one DB in MAN COVERAGE, is in ZONE COVERAGE. Travis Lewis is shadowing the LOS ready to cover any late-releasing receiver in MAN COVERAGE. With Lewis responsible for the remaining 3 receivers (2 TE's and the RB) the defense is free to drop back further and further away from the LOS to cover the 2 WR's.
@OUdidntknow8412 жыл бұрын
And countless times Broyles beat them deep down the middle seam in that soft zone coverage. Most of the time he was beating the two saftey's. And yes he got double teamed. Try watching the FSU game this last year.
@OUfootballAuthority12 жыл бұрын
No, Landry suffered from the loss of Broyles because slowly after he left the game, Landry seemed to lose confidence in throwing to his recievers. But he is accurate... ...when he's confident.
@soonerdave0112 жыл бұрын
And that's a VERY common coverage that NCAA spread teams see over the course of a season. Now you can call it double-coverage if you want but then you have to turn right around and say that ALL of OU's WR's were doubled-up when facing what's commonly known as Cover 2/3/4. Even the ones----like Broyles-----who were running short and intermediate routes. Isn't that kinda silly?
@OUdidntknow8412 жыл бұрын
Right, wrong.. I just hope broyles has a good nfl career. He deserves it.
@soonerdave0112 жыл бұрын
If you can't understand how much easier it is to play on a team that has a clear talent advantage over 90% of the teams they play then you really have no business trying to hold a debate like this. This is really sad.
@OUdidntknow8412 жыл бұрын
Right, Because you saw how many TD passes Jones threw when Broyles went down... Ill help you. It was one. Think about things before you say them. Yes, Broyles played with better people WHEN HE WAS A FRESHMAN. He has been the only receiver that can catch the ball on a constant basis.
@OUfootballAuthority12 жыл бұрын
So how do you explain his explosive numbers for the first 6 games of the season where the reception yards were spread across the entire reciever core? He's good, the stats don't lie and can't be faked. But you might be right, if he doesn't get it together for 2012 and keep focused no matter what is going on around him, he could faulter.
@OUdidntknow8412 жыл бұрын
Please tell me who there best db is and if by shut down you mean, 7.8 yds per catch with 7 catches including a 22 yd 3rd down that set up a game winning td catch, then yes your right.

because i look at ou's recruits when i first hear about them, and i started watching thompson a few years ago, and at his age, he looked better than bradford, white, and landry.. he has RG3 ability at 19.. hes going to be good.. you can watch his high school stuff on youtube..

Looks great. Still early to come back from an ACL. Says he'll be ready for training camp in July.....meh, don't push it. I'd rather he wait around a few games personally and be completely 100%. That'll be almost a full year since surgery. Gonna be special though, especially for a team that throws as much as Lions do.

@soonerdave0112 жыл бұрын
Bradford was the consensus #1 pick according to all the experts that year. I've no clue where you're getting this, "there were still questions after bradfords pro day" nonsense from. No offense but you're out in left field here. Wes Welker wasn't even drafted and bounced around the league before finally settling in up in New England. You just validated my points FOR me by saying this.
@soonerdave0112 жыл бұрын
#3 QB is almost all mental whereas WR is all about moving in space. Ask any player at that level and, almost to a man, they'll tell you that that's the LAST part of their body they can afford to be injured at. #4 "Ryan Broyles is clearly better on film". Seriously? Did you even watch the games this season? Go look up the stats from this season and compare the two. Kendall Wright had a sensational season.
@OUdidntknow8412 жыл бұрын
Again, Thanks for avoiding the questions. If you don't think it is possible for a WR to get double in zone. KZbin "Tony Jefferson one handed int" You will see Jefferson was in zone coverage but somehow the opposing WR has 2 defenders around him. Now, I'm not here to coach you. Go watch more film for basic defensive coverages.
@soonerdave0112 жыл бұрын
Do you not see how much MORE difficult it was for him than it was for Broyles? Kinda hard to be great when you're_the_only_real_target_your_QB_has. Can you say constant double-teams? You just made my point for me. Again.
@dukebothers12 жыл бұрын
Ryan is going to feel right at home when he hooks up with DeMarco again in big D

LMAO this just got stupid... So the bell dozer package wasnt effective until RB went down? Because before RB went down he caught 10 td passes. They introduced it at the Kansas St game and broyles didnt go down until the Texas A&M game. So which one is it?

In other words----why stay shallow if all the receivers on the other side are going down-field?
@soonerdave0112 жыл бұрын
And you're insane if you think Broyles got double-teamed constantly At OU. Most teams ran a soft-zone against OU and paid dearly for it. But really----do you even know the difference between zone and man-coverage?

I dont lik the direction tha big 12 is headin in but i will alwayz lik ou and osu
@OUdidntknow8412 жыл бұрын
No one knows how a person will come back from a shoulder injury, esp a QB. There were still questions after bradfords pro day. For instance I believe Bradford threw 50 passes at his pro day. Which is great but that didnt answer questions on weather he could throw 30 every week. I mean, Wes Welker seems to be doing just fine after his knee injury.
@ThePistons4life12 жыл бұрын
you cant double cover Megatron and Broyles...what will teams do??...lol i have a feeling he will take alot of receptions from Megatron...
@soonerdave0112 жыл бұрын
And Wright is clearly faster then Broyles when you watch game tape. Now, go back to the first part of my statement. He has an injury that's going to cause a lot of teams to think twice about him. He'll make some team very happy and be a great value pick but-----other than QB----no position is harder to judge than a WR coming outta college and transitioning to the NFL.
@soonerdave0112 жыл бұрын
Ron Dayne still holds the record for most NCAA career rushing yards. What did he do in the NFL? Nothing. Emmitt Smith still holds the all-time NFL rushing record. Is he the best RB of all-time? Hardly. Stats don't mean you're the be-all/end-all at your position.

@OUdidntknow8412 жыл бұрын
Yes seriously. The same guy who holds NCAA records is clearly better on film. Yes I agree Wright had a good year. But Broyles has been doing it since he was a freshman. RB Career REC 349 Rec YD 4586 and played in four less games just this year. KW Career REC 302 Rec YD 4004 Ryan Broyles had to do all of it on a team full of 4*'s Kendall Wright was almost the # 1 option since day 1
@soonerdave0112 жыл бұрын
Since Lewis can't cover 3 people at once he looks to be in zone but he's there to run WITH any late-releasing receiver. Initially-----Lewis, Jefferson and Wort are ALL in MAN COVERAGE. Notice the initial hesitation on their part before it becomes apparent that the QB still has the ball and that no one else is releasing. This is NOT a pure zone coverage by the sooner D. No idea why you mentioned this play.
@duchaneaux12 жыл бұрын
Well you'll have Randle now since Lions took Broyles first. Now Giants can move Cruz inside for a mismatch.
@soonerdave0112 жыл бұрын
I never said he wasn't a good player or that he was destined for free agency. Had he never been hurt he'd have had a chance-----A CHANCE------ to go in the first round. But he's not the prototypical NFL WR, he is coming off a major injury and there's no getting around that. No one at the next level cares about his records. If that was the case then every QB from Lubbock would go in the 1st round. And that's clearly not the case.
@ThePistons4life12 жыл бұрын

Yeah Bradford was the # 1 pick. But so was Jemarcus Russell and every one knows how he turned out. Your statements make no sense. Just because they are the # 1 pick doesnt mean they dont have questions. There is a reason you dont scout talent for a NFL team. Ask every NFL team if they would spend a 2nd rd pick on Wes Welker now?

Wow. OMG. Are you fucking serious? Play-action out of a double TE, single back formation and only the receivers are running down field. The other eligible receivers: 2 TE's and a RB stay in to defend the QB. This is called "max-protect". Receiver at the top of the screen runs what's called a "go-route". The DB opposite him looks to be peeking into the backfield except that he's really in MAN-COVERAGE. When you turn and run with a receiver you are in MAN-COVERAGE.
@soonermagic2412 жыл бұрын
oh yeaah.. bell is good, but kendal thompson is smarter, faster, can throw 100 times better, and defenses wont know what to do.. just wait.. and yes, its good to be a sooner fan.. maybe with stoops back, our defense will grow a pair
@OUdidntknow8412 жыл бұрын
That makes no sense. If Wright is clearly faster on film, then Ryan Broyles is clearly better on film. And its not even close. Yeah he has an injury.. but so did Bradford and in your words,"other than QB------no position is harder to judge than a WR. Your talking in circles sir.

I'm trying to be nice to you but you're clearly lost here. You're the typical OU fan that simply does_not_understand_the_game. Which is a shame because you simply get killed when talking football.
