12 years later and I still love watching this cover. Amazing. As a drummer I have the utmost respect for anyone that can nail this cover like you did.

Dude! You sound awesome man. I love this track and your playing is SO smooth. This is what drumming is all about... THE GROOVE. Keep at it and you'll continue to do bigger and bigger things. - Jared Falk

Ryan, I'm phil. This might be 12 years old, but I used this as the go to for the cover my band doing this in January. So on Jan 20th, I am using this as my guide. Only 2 years into drumming and your cover made so much sense to me. I do this note for note, strike for strike with how you did it. So many thanks for you doing this!! Phil Collins (yes, my name is actually Phil Collins...)

I too play by ear. Only watch Drumeo for it's amazing content. Did great job my friend (even tho this is now 9 yrs old). Now, at 60, I drum for a local Ottawa cover band + backup singer. Time for more!

I know this is a little late in the game but Ryan, I hope you're still playing! You did a very nice job on this man! I'm in the process of making a video of this and other Goo Goo Dolls songs and you helped me "get" a couple of things I didn't quite hear so Thank You for that brother! Keep drumming!

Hey man as for gear I used Apex mics (definitely recommend better mics though), recording software I use GarageBand on my MacBook, a SoundCraft Mixer, M-Audio Fast Track Pro. As for a price you can usually rent all the the stuff from a local music store but ya you just have all your mics hooked up into the mixer.. from the mixer you connect the M-Audio interface with teo XLR's and that plugs directly into your computer using a USB slot! hope this helps!

Hey guys it was just luck to be honest, Jared Falk posted a comment on Facebook saying everyone post a video of a drum cover and I will pick one person to post on my page for everyone to see and give feedback on.. So like I said it was luck that was video was chosen and I know I am not the greatest drummer in the world but everyone gets lucky every now and than and I guess that was just my time! I watched both of you guys videos and you guys are both great drummers and the views WILL come! :)

Hey thanks I appreciate it! ya I have been getting alot of negative comments about my tom sounds.. in my latest video I did I tried tuning everything up much higher and really worked on trying to getting the settings sounding good on the mixer.. I guess I just have to admit I have no clue what im doing when it comes to adjusting settings and what not!

I drum like you do man, just grooving by ear. One thing that I think you might want to consider is improving your accuracy during the fills you do - nothing throws me off more than hearing the sound of a rim in the middle of a run where I'm supposed to be hearing a really smooth, quick fill. Otherwise, you've got great rhythm and a really good baseline to rock just about anything you hear if you can coordinate your hands and your feet to make the sounds - keep it up man!

@deedlebag @jaredfalk I don't understand... not downplaying this guys talent at all, he's a good drummer, did a good cover, but how come a cover like this gets over 10,000 views, and a cover I put up only gets a few hundred over a few months. A cover which i would argue to be the same playing difficulty. Just don't get it. Good job though bro, from one drummer to another, love your kit!
