The defense called Ryan Duke, accused of murdering teacher and beauty queen Tara Grinstead in 2005. It was the first full day of defense testimony in the case. Duke claims his roommate, Bo Dukes, confessed to murdering Tara Grinstead and took him to an orchard where they burned her body. He said he was afraid of Bo Dukes and took the fall for him in 2017.

Because GBI needs this case to go away. It was wrapped up in a nice little package for them in his confession so they just ran with it. They dropped the ball. They also lied on the stand which hurts the states case in my opinion. They said that these 2 boys names never came up in the investigation which in fact it is now common knowledge that their names came up in this case only a couple of weeks after the disappearance. I would be willing to bet the truth is not very far off from what he told on the stand.

@@madhatter2970 The prosecution didn't prove their case. That how our system works. There was absolutely reasonable doubt in this case...hell, the majority of people out there think he is not guilty. Therefore, they got it right regardless of whatever the truth is. We don't lock people up for the rest of their lives when they can't be proven guilty.

One thing I'll never understand is if Bo murdered Tara, why would he involve someone else in the crime? He could have carried it out on his own. It's just such a weird dynamic. I don't think we'll ever find out the whole truth unfortunately. Prayers for Tara's family.

Def listen to the Up and Vanished podcast. Most of those involved in the making of this podcast feel Bo killed Tara and Ryan helped burn the body. They feel Ryan was intimidated/afraid by Bo's family's status in the community. Ryan was also questioned while he was high on narcotics (his mothers prescription morphine)

Unfortunately for you, she is almost as ignorant as Ryan. Ryan is going to walk, can't be convicted for covering it up, as that has passed, but I guess if the DA admits his confession was false, they could give him 20 more years on top of what he has served for lying to the GBI. But lets be real. No DA is humble enough to ever do that. Ryan has already lost his life either way, and been in jail longer than he would for just covering it up. Remember Bo was convicted for lying.
