There’s no weight drain issue. Ryan was initially offered at 135 with no rehydration clause, meaning he could puff up to whatever weight he wanted. But he turned it down and agreed to a catch weight at 136lbs, which came with the rehydration clause. Both of them were subjected to it, not just Ryan. Also, it’s not unusual. If this was an IBF title fight, they would be fighting under the same clause. That’s what the IBF requires for all their fights sanctioned by them.
@AkiraEdits Жыл бұрын
Is that actually confirmed or just something you heard ? Saying it has no effect is kinda crazy. Ryan is 5'10. Being 135 at 5'10 is very low. Tank and Ryan being on the same rehydration clause is an advantage to tank because he is a much smaller guy. Fight still woulda ended with a Tank win but to deny the obvious is stupid. Rehydration clauses make boxing worse. If youre as skilled as someone like Tank you shouldn't need one. The sport is already dying due to boxers fighting tin cans for 40 fights just to keep their 0.

The rehydration is so annoyingly overstated that it’s actually ridiculous. I could make a whole playlist of interviews where everyone from Ryan’s father to Goosen to Ryan himself admitted that making weight wasn’t an issue, that Ryan was strong at that weight and that the rehydration clause wasn’t going to stop them from winning. Hell, Ryan even said that he normally weighs in at 148 in his fights. 148!!! Bro he weighed in at 144 in the early afternoon of Saturday, he had more than enough time to make those pounds back, it’s not a huge difference whatsoever. And Ryan being 10 pounds heavier in no way would prevent Tank from taking away his lead hand, cutting angles, timing his backhand and left hook with shots, controlling the pace with footwork, etc. like it’s so stupid and that’s why Ryan even said he can’t blame the rehydration clause for his loss because he said he felt “everything come together” for him as the fight progressed….

I think the rehydration did okay a massive part but mostly Ryan's team looked like they didn't know Tank was a southpaw! Never once stepped to his left! Wasn't even trying to set up the right hand. Never adjusted to Tank luring out the left hook and then ducking, why didn't Ryan anticipate that? Why didn't the corner say anything?

I dont think he quit I think he just realised how great that performance by Leon Edwards really was

People acting like this is the first time Tank has dropped someone like that. Go back and watch his highlight reel. He drops at least two or three other opponents the same way with that delayed response.

The weight didn’t make a difference Ryan didn’t have enough tools or heart‼️

Tank made him look slow because tank is faster and smarter and got more dog in him than Ryan

He obviously mentally checked out. You can’t convince me he didn’t quit bc he stood right up after the 10 count. Still mad respect for taking the fight!

Just because you can stand up doesn't mean your body isn't shut down, when you get hit with a body shot like that you are not able to raise your hands to protect yourself, he was gonn get KO 100% percent, It was over.

I gotta agree with ya man. I really hope people don't talk too much smack to Garcia for losing. Like you said, boxing NEEDS this mentality. A young fighter trying to be great and just lost. It is what it is. We need to be encouraging this mentality. Get rid of this "you have to have a perfect record to be great" mentality that boxing has had for far too long. I'd take top 10 fighters trading wins and losses over boxers picking and choosing opponents to manufacture perfect records 7 days a week and twice on Sunday.
