The Honda Center faithful and St Louis Blues show respect as Ryan Getzlaf plays his final game in the NHL. The feels this season are almost too much to handle! 😭😭 #RyanGetzlaf #AnaheimDucks #FinalNHLGame #GETZY

This has been quite an emotional end to the season. First Getzlaf now Dustin Brown. Never been a ducks fan, but always respected Getz for sticking with them through the highest of highs and lowest of lows. I can honestly say that I cannot imagine the mighty ducks without him. Congratulations on a great career captain.

Real emotional night! Watched him as long as I’ve watched hockey. And his learn to skate program is what got me into hockey! Thank you Ryan Getzlaf!

Red wings fan here but thank you Getzlaf. One of the last remaining players from my childhood. We all have our teams but true hockey fans respect and appreciate all players like Getzlaf.

Never a big fan but mad respect for him and his love of the game team mates and even opposing players! I will never forget the time I watched him help an opposing injured player out of harms way in a scrum! Didn't see it much before Getz did that now you see it more and more players caring for each other more than the Uniforms they wear..Congrats Getz have a wonderful life and enjoy your family time!

I am a hockey fan!! Los Angeles kings are my team. I am a getzlaf fan as well. Seems like he is classy and just looks like a nice guy. He played the game like a true gentle giant. Happy retirement to him and his beautiful family. Brown is next... All the good ones are leaving. 😢

I've been watching Getzlaf since I was a kid, I got a ducks jersey when I was 12 (now 24) with his name and number on it, and for me it was a huge deal cause ice hockey isn't as big here in Scotland and Getz was my all-time hero. Him as well as jean giguere, Selanne and Perry. The last player of all my memories as a ducks fan has now joined the greats and I'll always be grateful for that. Enjoy retirement Captain 🧡🦆

Those kids in the audience will never know the legend of Ryan Getzlaf until it's too late. That was me with Sergei Fedorov, Mike Modano, Pavel Datsyuk, Paul Kariya, and Teemu Selanne.

I was really hoping they’d have the kids skate the ice with dad somehow. When Keith Tkachuk retired, he had his kids take those laps with him. That woulda been a highlight for Ryan and the family to cap off the night with.

Not a Ducks fan per se but a lot of respect for the organization. All good things must come to an end but Mr Getzlaf is one of a kind. Solid player, solid leader, solid individual. Hate to see him go. Hope the organization retains him and utilizes his tremendous skill and influence to propel them forward. Hats off to Getzy

It’s wild to say this about a team that has Craig Berube as their head coach, but I think St. Louis might have the classiest team in the league. The whole team from O’Reilly down is super likable. Bennington can be an exception, but I’ve always respected the personalities on that team.

Hey same for us with Jumbo lol. Great player. Hes something you might enjoy at my expense. My gf and I went to a Ducks game vs the Sharks, the sharks kicked our ass that day. As we leave the arena my gf says "you know what? Im a sharks fan now, i like them" ahhhh

Ryan Getzlaf retiring? What? I did not know he was going to do that, or at least know about he had decided to do so. He is only 36 and could have 2 seasons left in the tank. But I guess he is doing this because of Anaheim's rebuilding phase it is in and he have no desire to play anywhere else in the NHL. A fine career to look back at he ineed have! - 17 NHL seasons (2005-2022), - Stanley Cup champion 2007, - Olympic gold medalist 2010, - World Cup gold medalist 2016, - World championship silver 2008, - 3-time NHL All-Star Game player 08, 09 & 15. - Franchise leader in: Most assists and with more games played also points leader (But Selanne had greater PPG and overall better) most games played.

His goal production was dwindling. He wants to a be dad who "plays with his kids not watches his kids play" he said. One of the Longest serving NHL Captain ever. 17 seasons. Steve Yzerman's 19 tops the list. Congrats Ryan!

Sorry to see him go but I can't get over the fact he never led the team to the Stanley Cup Finals and those six or seven game seven losses (in the Honda Center) are Ryan's legacy. A HOF'er? Probably, but an unspectacular and forgettable career for a top tier player in my book. You can see it in Ryan's demeanor, he knows.

let's be real... anaheim fans are very fairweather. i would know because i live here. i m a huge la king fans and we would easily take over honda center everytime kings play here. having said this, hockey players are the most unselfish players and on the other specturm, basketball players are the most selfish players.
@onedayatatime0072 жыл бұрын
I think you're confusing fairweather with the Kings being from LA an thus having a bigger fan base. They also happen to be right next door as you know.
