That cooperative idea to remove most of the Driver's dialogue in Drive was such a simple but wonderful thing to do. Really is charming, and one of the reasons why that film is so timeless 🥰

I loved the story and Gosling and Mulligan can say everything with just eyes and expressions. I don't have a problem with killing the bad guys, but you really don't have to stomp a guy until you hear his skull crush and how is that Driver didn't have brains and rest of the skull on his shoe? It really would have sounded so Refn with the clunk of the skull on the pavement, but difficult to use the accelerator. The scene in the motel with the girl's head blown off with pieces flying all over the place and blood or the guy being stabbed with the curtain rod. I have no idea why that need to have been shown. Refn revels in gore and guts. Hearing actors say the thing I like most about Nic is he takes his family with him and because of that I will literally do anything that comes out of his mouth. Of course, there is the scene where the bad guy rams silverware into the guy's eyes and then a knife thrust several times into his neck. It seems to get worse with every movie, no limit to Refn's hunger for blood and guts. I can't watch "Only God Forgives" and I have tried. The fewer lines, the more blood and guts. He just isn't good with dialogue? He has done blood lust in men, blood lust in women, what's next, I hope it isn't children and I hope someone finally says "NIC THIS IS ENOUGH, I DON'T CARE HOW FUNNY, INTERESTING AND ENTERTAINING YOU THINK THIS GORY MESS IS. The look on Driver's face when he turns around and sees the horrified look on Irene's face after watching him crush a guy's skull with his foot, even if it is a bad guy and there are more to be killed. Why not knock him out and strangle him? Because Refn likes blood and gore.
@izabellamcxi11 ай бұрын
if u dont like gorey type movies then just simply don’t watch it, its not like someone is forcing you to do it. Refn is a creator and it’s up to him and him only how he want to pursue his art, you don’t have to like it. Also, for example, would you complain about a horror movie being too scary or gore too? Just get over it.

Refn and Gosling are not normal human beings in their acute intelligence. I think each is capable of anything,good and bad.
