My granddad was crushed by a mining cart and forced to retire. Unsure which mine is was as he would never talk about it. He actually lived across the road from the Cae Ras.

I can imagine but never truly understand. As a child I heard vague stories of losses working in the mines as my granddad and his brothers worked the mines on Vancouver Island. My grandad moved to Vancouver BC. I don’t remember any stories related by my father. Grandad died before I was born. Unfortunately alcoholism played a major role in his life. To lose anyone in a mine disaster is a tragedy. So many at one time is beyond a tragedy. 💜
