I tinted my M3 and went with 3M crystalline on the roof. Makes a huge difference. Crystalline is also not dark. And prevents the most UV. Nice Batman rolex btw. :)

offical 0-60 on your car is 5,5 seconds new. the m5 is 4.8 seconds to 60. and it handels ALOT better

Your friend with the silver M5 needs to replace his rear struts. Insides of the tire are feathering. Look at the contact patch. Every other shoulder block does not catch concrete. Most likely needs to do the fronts too. Love your M5. Mine is the same color. I just can't bring myself to sell it. Originally bought it to sell. Then just completely fell in love.

Your tire pressure readout seems really high to me. Does everyone keep theirs in the 45 psi range?

Its an American thing, most other countries keep it around 30 - 32. Something about American's being less likely to regularly check tire pressure, so their recommended tire pressure is a lot higher to counter that. If they don't check it for 12 months, its still somewhere in the 30's. I have 28 front and 32 rear on my E39

Joseph Belfi I store it with higher pressure to avoid damaging the tires with flat spots. I drive it with whatever is stated in the manual. I forget now.

My M5 is a February 2000 production that I bought in July of 2010. Yours might not have OBD-II. But it should have a round port under the hood on the passenger's strut tower.

The Honda has been very reliable... but so is an E39 M5 when properly maintained. Most M5 owner's neglect fluid changes, ignore service engine soon lights, and try to put 200,000 miles on original suspension components and then complain that the car is unreliable.

E39Source I have 2 E39s they are good but by far not perfect, I've repaired everything on it from the headliner,abs module, pixels in dash, control arms, oil pan, valve covers, Radiator, water pump, valley pan, Vanos units, timing chain and guides, drive shaft and carrier. Rear diff bushings, mounts, etc..But i still love my cars won't get rid of them

The dashboard pixels, ABS module, and headliner issues are annoying. Like the gas cap rust, these issues were overlooked by BMW. The rest of that is all normal car maintenance for a vehicle of this age. They're all consumable parts.

FishFind3000 technically you can always layer film to achieve a 2.5% or lower. i also have yet to get used to it, as I've never personally owned a car with anything darker than 50

Road salt in the north is extremely corrosive and its way better to remove it as soon as possible rather than to pay thousands in body repair after the rockers rust out. I daily drive my e39 year round and i pay the price. Keeping a car like this clean is not only smart, it will pay for itself in the time and effort spent 100 fold.

here in NZ we don't have any salt on our roads, and all weather tyres all year round. I have a 1990 Ur quattro with 174,000kms (108,000 miles) and a 1999 M5 with 189,000kms (117,000miles) and neither has any rust. Also have some of the best driving roads in the world with very little traffic. Yes we are blessed :). Racing my Honda (Acura) Integra DC2 this weekend, had track day in my Megane 265 RS three days ago, and running the M5 (dressed same as Alex Roy's) in our fun Gumboot rally (www.gumbootrally.com) next weekend. Love seeing how well you care for your m5, Ryan. It truly is a very special car, the E39 M5 - possible the best cross country touring car ever. Had it on the track once - a track car it is not! Too heavy, go for the M3 for that use.

well, I love my car and it always has to look clean, spotless, & detailed (inside & out) Idk I'm OCD maybe about my lil' 5_series... but so be it... I just can't stand a dirty car...my e39 was actually sitting (& parked) outside for about 7 months. Whoa, that blows!!! that sucked!!! but just now I recently had it towed and dropped of @the mechanic and whats so weird is that it bothered me to not have it detailed and cleaned but I had a million and one things to do that morning so I couldn't have it done. but the interior is always clean... I agree, its anal, but its soothing and comfortable to sit in my baby blue when she's clean. I'm going to do a video on her soon, as soon as I get her back to my garage -from the mechanic. ill tell all about it and the whole ordeal stay tuned Bro, and to each is own, everybody does things different... my habit is to salute any and all BMW owners ... and e39's "ah forget about it, I consider them my FAM (Family)
