The Banks cold air intake has known issues throwing check engine light codes on the 2019+ RAM. I put up with it for 5,000 miles in my 2024 3500 but eventually returned it and went back to stock. As of mid-2024 there’s no solution from Banks. Their other gear is great, though! Bank was gracious about refunding me. I also appreciate that the stock intake is much quieter, with less turbo whine, which is nice on long road trips. Banks cold air intake let a fair amount of extra turbo whistle and air intake noise in the cabin.

Happened to me also on my 2024 - they have offered to refund me or provide fix when it comes out. Hoping soon otherwise I have a large paperweight in my garage on a shelf waiting for it.

Exactly. Banks simply doesn't work on the 5th gen.
@LivingAnExaminedLife14 күн бұрын
@@jtx119 I’d return it. I don’t think it’s fixable without a physical redesign of the air intake and it provided no appreciable advantage when towing or flooring the pedal, unless you consider hearing extra turbo whine an advantage.

We have switched to duramax at work from newer model powerstrokes and we had one 2020 Cummins. Couldn’t be happier. I drive a 2012 Cummins with g56 as my personal and after owning versions of all 3 and then using them for hauling excavators and skid steers, daily driving, camping, etc my money goes with GM. After this truck I’m buying. Another duramax. I bought this truck because it’s a legend with the g56. But it’s been nothing but a wiring nightmare and it took a lot of aftermarket parts to make it enjoyable to drive or even tow good. Stock g56 truck is laughable to drive it’s no wonder they got rid of the manual And now that Cummins changed their lifter design you can hardly work on these in your driveway anymore. With duramax I almost never had problems.

It would have been nice to see your "technique" for getting to that #6 fuel line, especially how you then torqued the lines to 41 foot pounds (I found that taking the data plug off it's mount gave me the angle I needed and using a socket wrench with a 3/4 crows foot did the job beautifully). Why does everyone skip that? Is there something about using a crows foot on a socket wrench that's a big secret? Or are we just trying to keep that to ourselves and wishing everyone else good luck?

@ryan25462 ай бұрын
I promise you it does plenty for the truck. EGR only operates during certain times. The truck now flows over 70lbs a minute. Very much more efficient and you can actually feel the difference just from these bolt ons.
@michaelbenoit2482 ай бұрын
@@ryan2546 , not sure on the Banks air box because a cold air intake doesn’t do a whole lot on new vehicles. I’d like to see intake air temp & MAF air flow before/after with Banks Ram intake with stock air filter vs Banks filter. Most new vehicles already come stock with a cold air intake so it does nothing. Delete the EGR & I’m sure it’ll improve power. Banks Monster Ram intake is the improvement you feel not the cold air intake that gets counteracted by the EGR. The engine sees the colder air & adjusts to get to the programmed intake temp. EGR is only for city driving so it would help but also won’t because of programmed parameters in the Cummins ECU to meet EPA regulations. The EGR is there to increase intake temp to reduce exhaust temp that reduces Nox emissions so adding colder air to the mix just makes the EGR work harder. Ford uses a coolant intake cooler/warmer so the EGR doesn’t have to work as hard and to have more stable parameters.
@lawrencesanchez1750Ай бұрын
@michaelbenoit248 send me your email address and I will gladly send you Logs of my truck. I logged it stock, stock with banks 5in exhaust, and Banks CAI w/5in exhaust. The MAF sensor reading stock was average 2.9. MAF sensor reading with stock air box and exhaust 2.8. Banks CAI and 5in exhaust maf sensor reading was at 11.7. Then CEL went off saying was seeing to much air flow. Well duh! Also, the turbo was running at lower rpms with a increased boost pressure. Exhaust gas temps was also cooler. I was pretty surprised myself and it made me a believer. I didn't even put on the Banks monster ram air horn yet. I have all 3 but currently waiting on the CAI fix so it won't trigger a CEL.
