this was a great 3 part series, especially if you are new to blender like me (only about 4-5 months) but covers a lot of basic blender features for learning more about blender or just review, and the finished product is great!

Hey thanks for the tutorial.. I just wanted to explore a better idea instead of manually placing all the ornaments and I found one.. Convert the tree into mesh and select the points in random using the random select option with a very low probability and assign it a vertex group. Now create a particle system and use this vertex group as the density for this particle system. Finally adjust the rotation to object Y or Z depending upon the orientation. This will also give pretty good results. Although not as better as your. Hope this helps.

Great tutorial, Ryan. You asked for some Christmas suggestions. What about mistletoe? Very festive. BTW: this time you didn't give the hex codes of the colors you used. I found this a useful feature since. Will you continue this in future tutorials?
@RyanKingArt3 жыл бұрын
Oh, sorry about that. Yeah, I usually give the hex codes. I just forgot this time, because I usually only do that in my Procedural tutorials. And also, thanks for the tutorial idea!

@@RyanKingArt Thank you, Ryan. If you only do this for procedural, no problem.

This has helped me a ton, appreciate this series. I'm curious, if I have 100trees in my scene, but only 5 of them appear in camera view, will the 95 trees no in view affect render times? And is there a way to fake density perhaps to reduce needle count? Again, thank you for the series! :)
@RyanKingArt3 жыл бұрын
Yes, that will really slow down your render times. To fix that, you Can use, Alt D, to duplicate the trees, instead of Shift D. That way, all of the trees have the same object data. it will save computer memory and render times.
@thomandy3 жыл бұрын
@@RyanKingArt Thank you!! Wasn't aware of Alt D, Ill be sure to do that and plan my tree "scattering" better instead of just copying a ton of trees in case it will be in view during animation. Appreciate it.

Now I have also finished the Christmas tree. I did it a little differently than you. I didn't like the gift ribbon the way you showed it. I wanted to do that better. Cool! It always looks so little. But when you do it, it's a lot of work. Thanks again. So I've almost finished Part 1. But with you it looks like you made a lot more needles.
