Painting a Winter Forest Landscape with Acrylics in 10 Minutes!

Today we paint a winter forest scene with a couple of large trees, and an Icy river in 10 minutes! This is a real time acrylic landscape painting tutorial.

Its actually 1:28 minutes over time so yea its not ten minutes but really good at painting and art ,art is my hobby so yea keep going. :)

I'm glad you asked, I really should include this information in the description. This painting was 8 by 10. However, I wouldn't worry about the size. Work with whatever you feel most comfortable with and remember, the larger the canvas the more detail you can apply.

It is not. However, ultramarine blue should work just fine

Unless you're using really professional paper I don't think this layering process will work well with watercolors. The page would quickly become quite warped. However, the image it's self is copy-able. Just try to match the colors initially as opposed to creating them via layers. In regards to the specific blue, I wouldn't worry about it. Prussian should work just fine :)

I think canvas can't be easily warped.. My technique in layering for watercolor is I need to dry the first or base layer before adding the second..

Oh, I hadn't considered using a canvas for watercolors. That is an interesting choice. In that case I wouldn't worry about the canvas warping at all.

Why does my brush run out of paint soon.. and i couldn't make thin tree lines.. i do use flat tip brush.. even the tiniest tip brush wouldn't make that thin branches😐 any tips fo that?

Ramana Here add some water to your brush & it will move more smoothly while laying diluted paint to make your branches.

Carol Schultz but water would weaken the pigment bond right. I use medium to thin them. Yet I couldn't make thin streaks.

You can use up to 25% water without worry of underbinding. Water is crucial. Medium is great but can't get the same result.

Carol and sacaltogirl made some great points. I would definitely begin adding water to your mixes. Also, sometimes it isn't the paints fault, but rather the painting surface. Some surfaces are more porous than others and the paint will kind of just sink into them before you can really move the paint around. It should also be noted that while technically speaking water does weaken the pigments bond, I've literally never had an issue and I've used far more than 25% water in my mixes. The art of painting has a lot of 'rules' but it's important to break them, we learn a lot more that way. I hope that helps!

I only have white gesso. Does it make a difference without the Titanium?

Hello lulubell. I've just seen your comment and I hope it's still relevant. Firstly, you should have more titanium white than any other colour as you tend to use much more of this for tinting etc. Secondly, try the gesso and see what happens. Gesso is essentially acrylic medium with titanium white added (unless it's clear or black!). Hope this helps!
