Thank you for so much useful and clear instruction packed into a short video. I attended a short acrylics class (one of those where they serve you wine, as if that's a good idea when dealing with only marginally artistic people!) and was quite disappointed with the result. I whitewashed my canvas and looked for a KZbin tutorial to try again. I was so glad to have found this -- it turned out much better than my first attempt!

Nice! You make this look so easy but I know it takes years of practice to see ahead what you want to paint. You do inspire me to keep going, however. I just started painting a few months ago after decades of thinking that I had no ability to do anything artistic. Thanks for your weekly inspirational lessons.

Good for you for getting started :) It can take time but as long as you enjoy the process it is time well spent!

Really nice, I'm a retired art teacher and I wish I had done this sort of thing with my students years ago, it was so difficult keeping their attention when all they were interested in were computer games. Thank you so much for bringing art back to life 😀

Haha, thank you! It's great that you're branching out and working with additional mediums. Both water colors and acrylics can be a lot of fun!

The effect at 08:21 really amazes me. Suddenly half of the bushes was water surface. Thank you! :-)

Sometimes all it takes are a couple of strokes to pull the whole piece together, this is why it's so important not to get discouraged around the middle mark. Trust and enjoy the process :)

Hi Ryan, i subscribe to your patreon hour long paintings, but i had a question on your ten minute paintings. on the misty fall forest landscape you recently did, is there any way that you can name out the colors you are using, before you begin painting each section, before, you always have done that , along with showing the colors on your palette as well on the video, it is much easier to follow along that way for me. thank you so much Ryan, and I love your painting channels by the way!
@RyanORourkeArtist7 жыл бұрын
Hey Troy! To begin, thank you for supporting the channel over on Patreon. I hope that you're finding the hour long lessons useful. I don't include the color palettes in these 10 minute lessons because there simply isn't enough time. I've tried in the past and I go way over the intended time limit. However, the colors I'm mixing with are always listed in the video description :)

Hi Ryan, your painting is beautiful!! I was thinking of giving this a go but rather than autumn, doing a cherry blossom scene (my room is a pale pink). I'm pretty happy with switching most of the colours but I was wondering what you would advise for the bush on the right? In place of yellow, what would you recommend? In my head, I can just see pink, pink and pink haha. Also, I don't want the overall painting to be too dark as I have a lovely bright room with lots of pink in the morning. Please advise me! I cannot wait to get started!
@RyanORourkeArtist6 жыл бұрын
I would try a muted green with highlights of blue from the reflected colour of the water and sky. The blue and pink will look really good together :)

How long did it take you to get your channel started? Did you have requirements you had to adhere to?
@RyanORourkeArtist7 жыл бұрын
I started my painting channel about four years ago and just followed the basic KZbin guidelines. However, I didn't really start posting weekly until about this time last year. If anything, consistency is key :)

Hey Ryan great channel just subscribed a couple of weeks ago just to get ideas and tips. I have been painting for over 35yr; acrylic, oils, watercolor and gouache.. I typically use Grumbacher soft and liquitex basic (soft and hard) I also have the chart that they provide and the color u list i.e. Primary Blue, Red and Yellow isn't on there do have another name for it or am I missing something? Because the last 2 panting I tried different colors combinations and have not got them to match?? Also could u give a better idea of ratio of color mix. Because I not trying to copy ur subject I just like the colors that u mix up for inspiration. Plz Help (🙏) a brother 👨🎨 out??!!! 🙂
@RyanORourkeArtist6 жыл бұрын
Welcome to the channel and thank you for commenting :) Primary Red, Yellow and Blue are all the technical titles for the colors I use. I'm not really familiar with the Grumbacher brand but Liquitex BASICS do offer these specific pigments. Here is a link to an example on Amazon: www.amazon.ca/Reeves-Liquitex-Acrylic-4-Ounce-Primary/dp/B0012F3B4Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1508181287&sr=8-1&keywords=Liquitex+Basics+primary+red In regards to color mixing, due to the ten minute time constraint I'm unfortunately not able to include that portion in these videos. However, I do show all of my color mixing/palette work over on the hour long Patreon episodes. I hope that helps :)

Ryan O'Rourke - Artist i really like acrylic painting, but I don't know where to start.. can you give me sone tips?
@RyanORourkeArtist7 жыл бұрын
I would begin by practicing both blending (wet into wet and dry into wet) and color mixing. Once you have those techniques down rendering most pieces is quite doable
