I just took my 24 M3P in for service (caused by me trying to install aftermarket lights in the trunk 🤦‍♂). They gave me a free loaner (for the 45 minutes it took them to fix the problem) and I got to see an older model 3. Man, its a night and day difference from my M3P! The new one is soooooo much better than the old one. The materials look better, the screen and cameras are way better. The loaner had a lot of rattles and squeaks and fully rebooted the screen about 100 feet from the dealership. Strangely enough, the stalks were not great to use. I've grown accustomed to swiping the screen for drive and reverse. I'm glad I waited, the 24 is awesome!

I am on the fence between a model y and ioniq 5. Mostly lease, but maybe purchase instead. Tesla is about $8k more (limited I5 vs model y performance). App for tesla is much better with the camera views and such, but cost money to use. App for I5 is free for life. I5 has the free EA charging for 2 years which is a huge benefit for me as I drive a lot, and do not and will not have charging at home. I'd be using public charging exclusively.

I really only need it to drive on the highway, I'm not worried about parking lots or side streets (which openpilot can do pretty well still anyways)

@wantsanewvehicle Before we got the Tesla, we were running OpenPilot on a Chevy Volt using a Comma 2 and then a C3. We loved it on the Volt and even used it in town. In fact, we held off buying a Tesla because Autopilot was not in the same league as OP. We got the Tesla in Aug 2023 when FSD was still v11 beta, and it was then better than OP and has only gotten better. FSD v12.5 is now really good and way beyond OP. I also love the way FSD navigates on the highway and in town. Is the Ionic able to use the Supercharger network? If not, then that's the other deal breaker for us. I'm not putting down the Ionic. It's just missing these 2 big features.

I did a pre qualify a couple weeks ago, just to see what it said. They won't leave me alone now..I've literally gotta no less than 10 calls/text in 2 weeks. In the past I've shown interest, even with test drives and only gotten 1 or 2 calls/text after. Must be getting desperate now. This guy is actually being aggressive about it too "okay, well lets schedule a test drive" after telling him "I'm not sure of my availability to test drive. Once I find a time that works I'll go online and schedule a test drive" and then when that isn't good enough for him "ok, well lets get you a reservation in or else you'll lose the 1.99 percent" after telling him that I don't need a reservation as there are more than a couple vehicles in inventory that I'd just get if I got one. "well, once those cars are gone they are gone so you better get a reservation in" Yeah, Edgar, you're not helping at all and if I do purchase, I'll make sure that 'you' don't get any benefit from it.

I’m in TOTAL disagreement with Ryan on the pre-mapping of Warner Bros studios for their Robotaxi event/demonstration. Musk has too much of a past of demonstrating or promising a functionality that in actuality can’t live up to the demo or promise, then selling vehicles, and taking people’s money for that functionality, only for those customers to find out after their purchase that that demo’d or promised functionality doesn’t work as advertised. Musk has got to be the most fortunate businessman in the world, in that he can promise a feature/functionality, get people to pay for that feature/functionality, have it not work or not work as advertised, and people, including those that bought his product because of that feature/functionality, will totally defend him about it not working. Waymo is solving lev3 problems past few years. Now Tesla is showing off ASS which moves the vehicle very short distance without a driver BUT owner has to watch whole time... 😂

The difference is that ASS works seemingly everywhere. Waymo is impressive, but also has something in the neighborhood of $100k+ of special hardware. Your Tesla has cameras... So... Not really apples to apples.

@@blitzzer24 i just read the later part of ur comment. Why is it not apple to apple...? No offense, but Waymo, Tesla and other companies are going for autonomous vehicle. They "chose" different sensors and methods but the goal is same, lev5 self driving car. Waymo chose to do everything that helps and now they are expanding the coverage and bringing cost down. Tesla chose to cut the cost and trying to go to the same goal with given hardware (well, still upgrading HW versions and not sure old Tesla cars with HW3 would be able to do lev3 or not). Anyways, to me, it IS apple to apple comparison.

@@kiloy1006 there is no way that Waymo's approach can scale. This is to say nothing of the profitablity of their operations. Waymo exists at the leisure of Google. Without Alphabet subsidizing their existence, there is absolutely no path to profitability. Tesla could have thrown dozens of sensors, pre mapped everything in HD, and operated in a fraction of cities in America. Instead Tesla is choosing a robust solution that is broadly and generally applicable. These two approaches are only similar in the fact that the end goal is roughly the same. One is a neat toy and a great experience. One is solving autonomous transportation.

@@blitzzer24 i have been writing current state of each company. One is running lev3 for years, expand coverage and bringing the cost down. The other one advertised it can be done with camera system only for cost reduction, implemented ai to drive the vehicle. Yet, it has been lev2, ADAS. You are talking about your opinion. Why Waymo can't scale? Have seen google's street view? Even 3d version of popular cities? Yes, Tesla could've add more sensors but they did NOT. How do u even know they could've pulled off lev3 or higher if they had more sensors? "Would've, Could've" dont count here. On the last part of ur comment, again, Waymo is solving lev3 problem when Tesla is trying to BE lev3 for... 10 years?? Here is my "opinion", Tesla will start only few or just one city to run lev3. THEN, they will scale/expand the coverage. Annnnnnnd then, start solving lev3 problems that Waymo is dealing with TODAY.

Optimizing the software for areas that Influencers and Elon drive is deceptive when they post videos of it because it gives the public the impression that it works great all the time, when it still doesn't. I would even bet that some of these influencers are deleting times when it messes up, just do Elon will keep replying to them on X and they continue to get software updates sooner than the rest of us. So far every update my car has gotten was never as great as Tesla and influencers made it out to be. Elon keeps saying Tesla is not like other car companies, but they are because Tesla used deceptive marketing. Optimizing certain areas for certain people is deceptive. Just like how Tesla's ordering page defaults to the potential savings numbers, instead of what you actually have to pay for the car. Potential savings are guaranteed savings and even if it were, you still have to come up with the full price for the car which is what should be shown first.

What happens if the car can’t be delivered by 9/30? Or if the car has QA issues on delivery?

If you receive the car with the defects on the car and they send you to a shop to get the QC issues fixed, you'll still get it. All really depends on how strict you are about QC issues and how extreme the issues are. If you decide not to accept deliveries, my guess would be you won't get the incentives.
