You & I have such similar taste in engines & stupid ideas. The reason my GT1 Murcielago project exists is because I spend hours of my life listening to and watching R-GT cars run hillclimbs in Europe on KZbin. Long before I could even dream about ever owning an LP640 let alone modifying one to the extent I have. & my V10 E46 M3 was built entirely because of that V10 noise, regardless of how difficult the swap was. Judd engines are unbelievably cool and throwing it at a drift car is just brilliant, and what I still love about drift cars. Keep up the good work man!

A lot of people can get 730bhp out of a 4L engine for a dyno run or drag pull. Judd builds engines that do it for 24 hours straight at wide open throttle.

It's quite a difference, the load of a lightweight F1 chassis for the engine to push, compared to a much heavier vehicle. Heavier vehicle, higher load, higher stress.
@ray_collins4 жыл бұрын
@@noxious89123 Grip matters far more than weight when you're talking about driveline load, sliding tires exert less force. I promise you, F1 cars have more grip.
@THESLlCK3 жыл бұрын
@@ray_collins weight IS driveline load, and hillclimb cars have more than double their weight in grip, I don't see your point
@ray_collins3 жыл бұрын
@@THESLlCK Your driveline load peaks right before the tires break traction. As soon as they slide, it drops. A 100,000lb semi spinning the wheels on ice has a very low driveline load, a 1,000lb drag car launching on sticky slicks has very high driveline load. Grip is the factor, not weight.

I think it's a thing. When I was in technical college, I interned at Jon Kaase's and Warren Johnson's and both had "fake" mufflers for their engine dynos. Basically tractor-trailer looking stacks with nothing in them. The summer I was at Kaase's, I cleaned a ton of cylinder heads out on the back concrete patio which the stacks were right next to, it was awesome. 1800HP naturally aspirated, 820" displacement for the (at the time) IHRA mountain motor pro stock engines.

I'm sure someone else already said this but Yamaha also built the engine in the Lexus LFA. Yamaha has been around the Automotive Motorsport scene for a VERY LONG TIME and has an incredible racing pedigree. They may be known more in the U.S. for their dirt bikes and motorcycles but in Japan they're know for making some of the best automotive racing engines the world has ever seen. 2JZ anyone?... yeeeaaaahhh, Yamaha had their hands all over that! Yamaha either designed, built, or designed with Toyota, just about every notoriously badass engine, Toyota/Lexus ever made! Going all the way back to the AE86 and GT2000! Toyota would basically sub-contract engine-design + development to Yamaha and then brand it as their own. And the only 10cyl Yamaha engines I've ever known of were either F1 engines or the LFA's engine, so you KNOW this thing is gonna be one BAD MF'er!!!

Yamaha also built heads for Toyota's 18RG line, from back in the day. 140hp-ish twin cam 1800. We took one in the mid 80's and got 250hp NA out of it with a BIG BOX from TRD. Once we finish bored, it was a 2200 with TRD pistons. Everything went into it that they had for it,,and it was a fairly big catalog for the 18RG's. Getting TRD on the phone back then was a next level effort, but finally they would answer. Love the Judd's. Always Have. Johnny Herbert said it was one of the best engines he ever raced in F1.
