This is so amazing! Like a lot of people, ‘the book’ changed my life. On a side note…i thought…yeah i could totally see eating beans and corn every day, no problemo lol. Then i found your channel a few weeks ago and have been watching daily, and you’ve changed my life too! I was in a pretty bad state of depression and your positivity has really helped me pull through. This is what life is about, get outside, get moving and live life to the fullest!

I became curious about the Copper Canyons after reading "Born to Run", but your videos really bring the place into full color. Almost makes me feel as if I'm running there with you folks - and maybe one day, inspired by you, I will.

It be so awesome to figure out a way to create a more sustainable way to carry water that is feasible for events like this

Thanks for the inspiration you bring with your videos Ryan. I guess you train very hard to run all these difficult races. Are you following a specific plan or routine ?
@duzer6 жыл бұрын
I don't follow a specific plan, I just run a lot, and bike a lot, so I'm usually in pretty good shape

All that bottled water makes me sad because the bottled water industry is not a positive thing! The plastic bottles are often used only once and sometimes unfortunately get littered. Even when disposed of "properly", many bottles find their way into the oceans and therefor into the stomachs of aquatic animals who mistake them for food. This should be addressed to pave way for a sustainable future. I read a statistic that said by 2050 there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish! I have also seen first hand in mazatlan mexico the beaches covered in trash not far from the resorts. Im sure there are ways for the race organizers to brainstorm alternative more eco friendly solutions to hydrate the race participants. Anyways looks like you had a great trip so far! Team Duzer!

I agree, it's a TON of waste. In my personal life, I try my best not to use any one-use plastics...I should talk with the Caballo organizers about alternatives...you are right about the oceans filling with plastic, not good.

You have to be very careful in Urique! Though it's very beautiful, lush and mountainous; also seemingly peacefully. It's a known center for cartel activities. Particularly drug smuggling, but also human smuggling too. An innocent American tourist was just killed there. Because he spoke such good Spanish, and asked a lot of questions about local culture. He had unknowingly came into contact with members of the Sinaloa Cartel. Who control the drug trade in that area. While people do travel to Urique without problems. It's not recommended that you travel there. Or to that part of the Mexican state of Chihuahua. But if you do, you're in for some unforgettable stunning beauty! And lots of culture.

Sad story about the American traveler :(
@kahlilsykies91396 жыл бұрын
Yes it is. And though he unknowingly dug his own grave, by not having an understanding of the social realities, and unspoken rules of Urique; There are reasons why the U.S. State Department advises Americans not to go to Urique at all. The reality is that, you may find yourself in a dyer situation, that you can't get out of. Violence can break out; shootings and shoot outs. And because of the presence of the Sinaloa Cartel and their activities. You can find yourself in trouble, for seeing, hearing, knowing or saying too much. Or simply being suspected of such misfortune. Just like what happened to the traveler. If you go, you have to be very careful. And have an understanding of the street rules. But you shouldn't be there all.
