Day of Infamy surely was 10/10 game back in the days. So glad I had an opportunity to witness the golden era of it. Sadly developers didn't gave too much attention, since the game was "in-between" project to test new mechanics and gameplay for upcoming bigger title - Insurgency: Sandstrom. Making it free to play may save the day but on the other side, this will probably raise a cheating problem and make the game not enjoyable and unplayable anyways. Too bad that such a great game had to go such a bad way, always happens to the best of us I guess.

War of Rights is FAR from a dead game. It's just a very community driven one where community events and groups are where most of the active player base ends up. There are actually probably somewhere around 2000+ active players and it always gets big flood of new players during the steam sales. It also is continously updating and being developed. It's really just that since its appeal comes in from stuff like realism, organization, and immersion, it's hard for random groups of public players to keep it afloat, so it kind of relies on having a strong dedicated community of organized groups. Why don't you join one the Ghosts of Antietam nights, contact the Union V corp, we can get you set up.

I have like 500 hours on Fistful if you include the mod version. It was once an amazing game, and its gunplay was so unique and deliberate unlike anything else on the market. The sole developer though is somewhere between a crybaby and an egomaniac. He CONSTANTLY tweaks the maps, weapons, and core mechanics, even when they don't need fixing. The tiny pro circuit begged him "PLEASE stop screwing with the weapons, the game's in a great spot" and he always went "piss off it's MY game." Could have undoubtedly had a bigger player count if he was more receptive. The last iteration of the weapon sandbox before he added Shootout economy was my favorite.

The last game is a wholesome story and a good case for why devs should add bots to their game whenever possible, by including bots you allow this small group of players to play their game whenever they want to even after the gaming world has moved on and gives them the freedom to choose between coop against the ai or split the real players amongst the teams depending on how they want to play that day. For example the work from home guy can easily pop onto the game during his lunch break for a round or 2 even if nobody else is on the game to play with him.
@thedarkspirit5084 Жыл бұрын
My brother and/or my cousin used to do this with CoD games. We fill the multiplayer with bots and usually go through the modes to see how much we won out of em. We would filled em 3 bots and us so it'll be 4 v 4 squads. Double health and respawn delay by 5 sec. Sometimes we would be on the same team and the opposite is full of bots on veteran difficulty to see how much we can take out via time limit or lives. If they ran out then we tally or one of us runs out of lives, the other wins. You get the idea. I wish online CoD did the same for bots.

Dystopia was a groundbreaking mod for its time and some elements of gameplay are criminally underused in other shooters. Those terminals that you had no idea how to use are used with a cyberdeck implant, that basically teleports you into cyberspace, which is an entirely different map with fast movement, changing gravity, breaking through enemy defensive software with your own programs and fighting enemy deckers, all to make way for your team in real space by opening doors, disabling turrets and hacking objectives. Having a good decker on your team and protecting them was key to success. It had 3 classes, each with their completely unique weapons, like Tesla gun, which shot balls of lightning on a leash, which you could sling around corners if you were good. And on top of that, implants that changed a lot in gameplay, by allowing you to scan for enemies, see their footsteps through walls, have optical camouflage, thermal vision, boosted jumping and sprinting. Each map also had its own unique set of objectives, Enemy Territory style. It's a real shame Dystopia 2 can't get off the ground.

Watching the Dystopia footage, it reminded me of how my friend showed me Half Life 1 LAN (not the standalone Deathmatch, so all the servers were dead). We would play for hours, then when I went home, I would boot it up again and just walk around the maps. It was so surreal, but such a strong memory from my childhood. I must have spent around 50 hours just wandering around maps alone.

Pirates Vikings Knights 2 was one of my favorite free games. It used to be packed on the weekends and I can’t count the times I laughed to tears. I went back to play it a few years ago and there were only a handful of people and most of them were the developers who loved their game and didn’t want to see it fade away. They even showed us some hidden Easter eggs and told us how they designed the player models and weapons.

This literally brings tears to my eyes as I have seen the rise, the glory, the fall, and the death of one of my favorite games ever made. Thousands upon thousands of hours (and probably euros too) poured into this one game over a decade of time. The game was called Fiesta Online. The English server in the Europe was shut down, as the playerbase disappeared. They gave us the option to migrate our characters to either French, German, or Spanish server if I remember correctly. I don't know if those servers are up anymore either. Or if my characters still exist there. It was the greed and negligence that killed this amazing game. From free to play to pay to pay to win. Or pay to do anything at all. The community was so great, though. I think it's still playable in the US servers, but those were extremely laggy for me and I often found myself blocked from there, as I was playing from EU. I tried countless private servers too, and they were fun for a while, but nothing could ever compare for the original. The people there. Amazing back in the day. Not only that, the music was absolutely fantastic in the game, and I quite liked the graphics and the atmosphere too. It would be amazing if you could try it. (If it even exist anymore.)

Dystopia to me is the greatest FPS game ever made. It's so unique and has so many options for different playstyles. It's so sad that it never got super popular and lately the company behind it was shutdown as well. I think they were developing a kind of a successor to dystopia as well. There still should be some people playing during weekends if you hit the servers at the right time, definitely should try it out with more people!

It’s wild to think these games survived longer than a lot of games released in the past few years and less, with the whole focus on live services and all. I get a bittersweet feeling from these, somewhere out there is someone playing these, sometimes with a handful more people likely developing a strong community driven bond, other times alone, maybe not even aware of the current gaming landscape just enjoying what they have. It’s sorta heartwarming.

It’s honestly really sad to see it in such a pitiful state. It’s a shell of its formal glory. I liked it so much more then rust. There was no better feeling then fighting off a raid of 6+ people with your team and then being afraid to log off at night to get any sleep. Eventually when your eyes are burning and your starting to hallucinate you think it’s safe to get off and catch a few hours of rest only to log back in and pray you spawn in your base but alas you are naked on the beach and have to make the decision to give up until wipe or go back to work and get revenge by offline raiding the bastards that stole your shit. War of Rights is really fun, and I had some great moments playing the game. My most memorable moment was when I managed to get lost from my regiment after a heated gunfight. If you ever watched 1917, it felt like that. I was the only survivor of my regiment and I was completely stranded in unknown and hostile territory trying to get back to my line, desperately walking in every directions I could, knowing full well every step I take could have me closer to an enemy line. At one point I encountered a stranded enemy, he was actually pretty chill and we both went on our merry way. Eventually I found a guy from another friendly regiment and led me to his line, but once I got there the enemy line charged our line in a last desperate attempt to win. It was a very cinematic moment where there was close firing and bayonet stabbing, but at the end of the day we won and I survived the entire round without dying. I definitely recommend playing this game.

The reason why you weren't getting anywhere in Dystopia, is that your loadout didn't include the ability to hack those terminals. Like you might remember from old 90s sci-fi movies, cyberspace was this whoile thing, and you hack to jack in and go through this wireframe like virtual universe - fighting other players for control of objectives (or to open certain doors and such) In Dystopia this was a critical part of any map, and your defenseless hacker had to be protected back in "meatspace" for your side to win.

We built insane and sometimes massive compounds with carports, second and third story launch ramps, gardens, watchtowers, airlocked trading booths, and even found a way to make social areas like basketball hoops (Owrong ball court, lol). No base was ever exactly alike. The combat was satisfactory for what it was and the driving felt nice. Crafting wasn't too taxing, nor was base upkeep. We now have stealth hax plaguing games only because they were made out of spite to battle better anti-cheat systems. Right now Epic Fortnite and Cod Warzones 2 have two of the best anti cheat systems. Fortnite reigns at number one and will likely be for a long time becoming a standard of Zero Tolerance for Cheating or in game exploits that are bannable offenses. Thus of which has to be intentionally pulled off to be called cheating and fair of a claim against a player otherwise you can't just accidently get banned for in game exploits for Fortnite unknowingly. There are other things in FN like say illegal actions as far as finances or exploits are more legal as in corpo. Can't have more than one account or make and sell accounts, like I said illegal at the corporate level. Or other things like being able to jump and aim at the same time or aim down sights. Can't do it in game and to do so is an illegal action and a modification done to the game by either internal or external means. While Warzones 2 has the most entertaining and fascinating concept that makes their anti-cheat so dang cool, but a hard number two to Epic Fortnite.

If you haven't done it already I think fist full of frags would be an interesting addition to these videos. Often times only a few dozen people online but the game is still receiving updates, they even added an entire mount system for horses just a couple of months ago.

My guy Adam is indeed the best DoI player, noone else crashed as many servers. Admins fear him, bots hate him...

Ay yo, I'm assuming ur Muir or one of Adam's friends that plays day of infamy?

@@blazednhazed71 Pretty sure I replied before, but somehow dont see my comment. I know Adam for around 4 to 5 years, we met in DoI and continued to play atleast once a week since then. We usually just troll the game at this point (probably for the last 2 years), I did upload some 0 efford clips of the basic stuff we do, if you care enough.
