By far the best youtube tutorial on this song. Very well done.

This song is deceptively "simple" on the ear, now you have broken it down, WOW! What a masterpiece of music 🎶 will definitely be having a go on this👍

It's pretty much a master class from Chris Hayes. All guitarists should be forced at gun point to learn this song in it's entirity when they've been playing for 6 months or more. It should be the 'chopsticks' of electric guitar. I started doing this with our cover band probably 10 years ago, and I was blown away by the guitar part.. I just LOVE playing it. Topically, after kids have been playing for 2 years or so, they should then be forced to play 'drop dead legs' by Van Halen. Which is another one of those songs that just feel amazing to play.

Yessss!!! Finally someone teaches this song with the solo. For whatever reason just about everyone who teaches this song on YT doesn't teach the solo🤷♂️. Thanks!

This one takes me back. I was in 7th grade when this came out. I remember seeing it at the theater at the local mall. Another great lesson Ry. You continue to have what is probably the best presentation format of any guitar instruction channel on YT.

Especially the bridge and the details that almost nobody is getting right is very accurate, down to the last chord. ( it doesn't solve).

Thanks man for this great lesson, I'm still kinda a beginner, so I have problem developing my timing, I just can't stick to the beat, whenever I turn on metronome I freak out not knowing what I'm doing. Especially when soloing, I do know theory and how notes work, but trying to actually accomplish something seems impossible at this stage. So I was wondering if you could make video on how to practice that, or just give me some kind of an advice I would be very grateful.

Hi Ry, thanks for the fantastic lesson, I picked up loads! Just one small point, in the (totally amazing) bridge section when he sings "You don't care" the guitar plays Eb A D F at the 6th fret so F7(13) I guess. The resolution at the end from Gsus to G is definitely there too. You can listen to the isolated guitar here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/boSulXtuhL6ti6c

One more small thing on the same section, try playing the first 3 chords at the third fret - Eb with a C shape muted 4th string, G with D in the bass muted 4th string then the normal Cm7. That way you still get the lovely descending bass note, it's very comfortable in this position and makes the changes really easy.
