Great video I just got a job in a small apartment complex and I was given a work order for a slow draining tub. I to ran into the tub closer assembly, I didn’t know how to disassemble it thanks to you I know now. I ended up removing the overflow filled the tub with water a quarter way and I used a shop vac blower to blow out anything in the drain and then opened the stopper and it drained quickly. I picked up the ryobi P4001 auger and now I’ll do it right. Thanks 😊

Can this be used to ensure your downspouts are clear each year, but from ground up? Just thinking of options other than going to high up a ladder. Not clogged presently but if I can run this up each season may never have one.:)

Thanks for the video, wasn't sure which buttons to set on the P4001 as the instructions have no pictures. It worked awesome, had to Auger up pipe from the crawl space about 16 feet. Not sure how durable the auto retract and feed will be on this tool... Seems like something that could break after a few uses? Hopefully not.

I’m trying to find a video that shows the actual drum/ cable replacement. I got a new drum/cable assembly and the very end of the cable won’t pull through the cable guide. Any help would be great

thanks for the review. does it work for toilets also?
@SolelyRyobi2 жыл бұрын
No, it is not meant to go down a toilet. You have to go down the exhaust vent or other clean out line.

Actually on the 4001 you can replace the cable. Im a professional service plumber and i have actually replaced the cable on mine a few times. I prefer it over some of the professional machines ( general, ridgid and a few other). Run time its amazing on a standard battery. I get about 7 stoppages per charge

Ricky R thanks for the clarification! Do you run the cable all the way out and then feed the new cable back in? There isn’t a way to remove the drum, right?

Can you feed the cable in and out while it is turning? It doesn’t have auto feed and retract like the 25’ models does it?

It will take tires off but you need at least a 3 or 4 amp/hour battery. They will give extra torque.

I don't know if anyone mentioned it, but the 4002 model ISN'T SELF-FEEDING. I just bought the 01 model yesterday because of that exact reason.

I bought 2 different P4002's and when I lock them in the forward position the wheels do not lock onto the cable so the cable will not self feed this is the second one I have gotten from the store and I keep thinking I'm missing something

I had a clogged tub in my 1940’s rusty pipe house. Draino wasn’t working and my stepfather and I tried using his Husky Auger to clear it out, didn’t work. I just picked up this Ryobi and it cleared the drain perfectly. Avoided a costly plumber bill for a $75 tool.

I liked most Ryobi products but not this one. I returned the Model 4001 because, a) the users manual did not sufficiently illustrate and explain the operation, b) the push buttons were extremely difficult to engage, and the whole procedure for engaging and disengaging the auger was cumbersome and difficult to accomplish. Suggest Ryobi re-engineer this product and improve their quality control.

I’m a big fan of my Ryobi drill press. It’s got a little run out but I’m ok with that :).

I have both of them..... I wouldnt buy them at a "big" box store. I got both models brand new in box for 100.00 on offerup... Yes. I had the batteries so i saved there but both models are awesome and have saved me thousands of dollars. But personally i do like the P4002 because of the attachments.. they have several bits that you can use but whatever your budget is. You aint going to go wrong with either of them..

Will you feel it when the line hits the clogged area?
@SolelyRyobi6 жыл бұрын
Mike Hwang it depends on the size of the clog. If it is big enough you will feel it stop moving forward in the pipe as quickly.

I bought this item and tried it. I didn't feel the line hitting anything thing hard or solid, but it fixed the clogged drain. Saved myself $200 or $300 from calling a plumber. Thanks.

I was, unfortunately, in the market for this product last week and I gotta say I felt let down by Ryobi. They need to have a cheaper model available because there wasn't really anything at home depot in that $70 price range. You have the contractor grade ones for hundreds of dollars, and you have the homeowner ones for $30 or less. I actually found a Ridgid one where you hook a drill onto it and then pull the handle to auto-feed it forwards and backwards. And that was half the price of this item. I just couldn't see spending twice as much for the same length and essentially the same features. I did use my Ryobi drill with it though. But would be nice to see a similar offering from Ryobi in the $35-$45 range.
