As an electrician that does strictly remodels this is an absolute essential tool. kzbin.infoUgkx0vyBwjtx9GGOuiqUVT2sRoYqmDoNT_RI Being able to precision cut any material with a light weight tool is priceless.I upgraded to this Dewalt 20v from a competitor's 12v. The Dewalt 20v is just as light as the competitor's 12v. I am extremely pleased with the overall performance and battery life of this tool. As far as oscillators go, they just aren't very ergonomic tools. The dewalt oscillators have an offset handle that do make them somewhat more ergonomic than the competitors' oscillators.

I love that it got rid of trigger. Holding that trigger can be fatiguing after awhile. Also, no longer having to pull a trigger allows to me place my hands wherever I want and focus on my cutting.

I’m sorry you had to hold it You didn’t have to if you looked on the side it had a lock button to lock in place the trigger so you won’t have to hold it for long periods of time

For doing work that requires a lengthy run time, where the hands might get fatigued to the point of shakiness, the on-off would be better, as the user can concentrate on the grip, and not trying to maintain a constant speed via the trigger. But for doing a lot of short, repetitious work, the trigger is quicker and more intuitive. For myself, for using it in a mix of work, the on-off is satisfactory. Thank you for the video!

A lot of Ryobi tools are under rated their brushless series is a game changer. I was at a job and my friend had a dewalt impact driver and had the ryobi impact 3 speed non brushless and we were driving 4" drywall screws into frame and 4x4 and my Ryobi blew the doors off his dewalt. I made him turn red. I take my ryobi tools to a job and no one fucks with them. I don't have to worry about people using my chargers or stealing my tools as the snobs look down on them but guess what, I get the job done and I am not spending an arm and a leg for my tools. Not to mention the 9Ah batteries are off the chain, love those beastly beastly batteries :D

I'm just a weekend warrior doing basic projects, this tool might do fine for me compared to the $299 Bosch version. The most I would ever do is cut rectangles in drywall for outlet boxes, or maybe some notches in laminate flooring.

None of these tools should have an allen wrench anymore, so it's a welcome improvement by Ryobi.

You know how the older ones have the rubber thing over the top? There's actually a couple tabs under there so you can rotate the head of the tool 90° one way or the other. Works great if you don't want the battery in the way of a small space or tight corner.

Love the channel. I, myself, hate the trigger and the necessity for the Allen key on the previous ryobi model. I like being able to flip the on switch, set my speed and then hold my tool in any way necessary to get the tool where I need it to go. I do a lot of cuts on ceilings and flood cuts in Sheetrock. I use my m18 brushed Milwaukee for the lack of trigger and the tool less blade changes. The ryobi is always my back up and I use it when I’m in a pinch or feel as though I’m overheating the Milwaukee. I will be picking up this new model because it seems to have everything I am looking for.

Mostly looking at this for the brushless motor and the tool-free blade change.. I have a current model with a trigger, which I do really love. I think it'd be neat if there was an all-in-one version with the brushless motor, tool-free blade change plus a trigger for variable speed, plus perhaps a dial to limit the maximum speed.

I have the ryobi multi tool with the trigger and I want to switch out to this one when it comes out. The trigger is nice but over time it doesn't always work right. I'll go to squeeze it and it won't move, so I have to play with it to get it to work sometimes. Still a handy tool and I'm glad I have it, but this new one definitely seems like an upgrade

I bought a Harbor Freight single speed model and thought, "If it's something I use a lot, I'll buy a better one when it dies." It hasn't died yet, but there are times I have wished it was cordless. Mostly I have used it to cut drywall, but I did remove a door header and framing to install a wider door and used it to cut nails. I imagine it will be good when I need to cut-off rail hangers on a fence someday. I bought a Bosch carbide blade, but it's not "sharp" and I found that it required much more pressure to cut nails.

I dislike triggers on my multi-tools. It's nice to set the speed and go to work in tight areas or in places where you constantly have to change cut direction.

Everyone at work shit talked my ryobi jigsaw, it has no variable speed trigger. But hell it’s trigger locks and the dial for speed control is thumb accessible. All guys at work use dewalt. The variable trigger on their multi tool is beat up to shit and barely has any variability. On switch and a dial is best.

Just used mine to sand off a greasy rusty old vice. Worked great now that vice is shiny new metal, and I almost don’t want to paint it, but my ryobi went from throw up green to black. Really holds grease and metal good on that finish :) used it for molding, and trim cuts too. These things are handy but I think it matters more on what you attach to them vs the name on the tool. I have used the ezarc “Amazon blades” with good results and Diablo sanding paper.

Most of these tools use a dial for speed so you can get consistent cuts in various materials. For example, in plastic cuts, you need a slower speed to avoid melting the material. A tool with a trigger is way more difficult to maintain a steady speed, which could cause issues with the cuts. A dial gives the same speed through the entire cut.

I’d like a trigger with an adjustment knob that can limit how fast. Once you find your sweet spot, set the knob so the variable speed trigger only goes to that point.

1. I definitely agree with the trigger over the dial. My best guess, a dial was cheaper to put in the tool. 2. I wish instead of creating a bunch of small tools they could have just created different attachments for the actual P246 tool. That power train is expandable to a magnitude of possibilities. It could have replaced the PSBCS02, P460, P531, PSBID01, and many more. Not to mention it was interchangeable with the Rigid JobMax attachments. I guess they were going for maximum profit. I mean why make a $45 attachment when you can make a $99 tool that does the same thing.

Just about anything would be better than the previous model, it was a total POS. Also, I hope this one has less vibration, I'm used to my ancient Fein which is nice and smooth, (for a multi-tool), the old Ryobi was like holding a paint shaker.

lol yes some older models of their tools were just not hitting the mark. Take for example the reciprocating saw. The old version was just garbage but the new brushless version is amazing, bulky but great at big demo sites, cuts through anything like hot knife to butter.

Personally, I hate the trigger. Having a trigger means that you must have your hand in a position to push the trigger. This limits how you hold the tool. Furthermore, there is no need to feather the trigger to vary the speed. That is what the dial is for. Also, what is the big deal regarding the little hump on the hand grip? That is silly. Your steering wheel on your car or truck has a bunch of them.

I finally got the Ryobi HP multi tool and it's a big let down. Either I got a lemon or the tool broke very easily. my first project I barely put any pressure on it and it kept cutting out and the light kept flashing. I took the battery out and it kept doing the same thing until I couldn't even put any pressure at all. now it just keeps cutting off and idk what's the problem but it's a big let down. another couple things is it had more vibration than what I figured and the speed dial would move on it's own. I would have to keep my finger there to hold it

Just came across your channel, I notice you're comparing ryobi against milwaukee against dewalt ... Ryobi shouldn't be in contention against those other brands. I have a bunch of ryobi to tools I like a lot , but they are nowhere near Milwaukee ( way overpriced and owned by the same company as ryobi ) and DeWalt (meh) . Makita should be in contention with the others, they've been around forever, and make great we'll built tool, Hitachi (Metabo) also makes good stuff, Ryobi - good but just not in the same class

"but they are nowhere near Milwaukee" - disagree to some extent here - There are some tools for lesser motor demand requirement uses in all of the brands you named where the differences between the ergonomics of the tools, the power, battery life, function, and features is so very little that 99% of us could care less. A good example is Ryobi's 18V little shop blower versus Milwaukee's, Dewalt, or Rigid, or Makita, or Craftsman (crap anyway anymore). Another are Ryobi's little dust buster vacuums, and there handy very small mini detail small nozzel blower, inflator, deflator. If you already have an 18V Ryobi charger, there are certain functionalities of less powerful motor tools that are imho quite the same regardless of brand, especially for the type of use for which you are going to use it. Not everyone is going to use this tool every single day like a tradesperson.

I also understand some things I would never buy ryobi but other things I'd definitely buy ryobi, for me ryobi is an accessory brand to compliment my milwaukee stuff because it is so cheap, for instance a workshop blower, why spend the money on a Milwaukee workshop blower when Ryobi bare tool is like 50 bucks and even cheaper at Direct Tools.
