I've had a great experience with all my ryobi equipment. My lawn mower had same problem. It handle folds for storage. When you put it in lock position to mow , then the lock pops out then it will not run unless you lock it in position again. It does the same thing your snow blower is doing. It's probably a simple fix

I hope you have good luck. I am on my Second 40v Ryobi snowblower and both of them only worked twice . I am trying to get this one replaced since it is over the 90 day warranty. Ryobi is wanting me to take it to a repair shop that is 400 miles round trip for repair. But when I called the repair shop they don’t work on the electric snowblower 😢

@@shawnrsingh I did get the snowblower repaired and it was the main controller that was bad. Ryobi covered the expenses and I have used it 4 times this year so far with no issues.

Possible issue with static discharge of dry snow rubbing against the plastic causing a short.

At 3:55, have you been able to figure out whats wrong with it? I received one from a friend (brand new because his switch was broken and they sent him a new one). I made one round in my driveway and stopped it and it is making that noise and won't run. I can't return it because I didn't buy it. 😞

I haven't tried to fix it yet, but one viewer in the comments indicated that they had to get the motor controller replaced. They were in a similar situation as you and had to pay to get it fixed.

My snowblower did the same thing couple of days ago, it wouldn’t start just like in this video. I am stuck with piles of snow on sidewalk and driveway. I don’t know how it’s gonna work I am out of Home Depot’s return window. Ryobi is proving to be trash and this particular trim is not cheap.

If you still have the receipt go to ryobi's website and register the snow blower and at least you might be able to get a replacement snow blower or get yours fixed so it's not a complete waste of money. You will have to go through the warranty process which involves contacting them telling them what the problem is and then they will advise you what the remedy is. It's such a big disappointment when you spend all this money to get this tool that's supposed to help you with your snowfall and when the snow will finally comes it fails.

@@shawnrsingh thank you I will do it. But at this point even if I get a replacement I doubt it if it’s gonna work because there is something that is wrong with the motor in it. Mine is new I have only used it twice on snow last year and it’s out. Hopefully they will recover all of this model snow blower. We shouldn’t be paying for their failure in research@Ryobiusa

I just bought one BEFORE watching this video… wish me luck this winter. Worse case, if Ryobi can’t help me with a failure, I’ll dissect the thing myself and get to the bottom of the problem.

@@shawnrsingh Being in a Chicago suburb, we've been getting a lot of snow lately, it's been working pretty well for me, actually. Clears slush, clears snow, just a bit hard to push on the tougher stuff. Otherwise, I like it!

how were you able to learn about the recall? So far the replacement that Ryobi sent has worked well through 4 or 5 snowfalls.

@@shawnrsingh It is at home depot that I found out that there was a Recall that is the reason they refund me because they did not have a replacement for me so I took the refund and bought a Toro 60V and I'm very satisfy with the Toro it works really good

hello my friend I have one of the same snowblower on the same thing happen to mine my problem was someone selling it on Marketplace not knowingly they already returned it and put it for sale so I have to call a third party and get the controller to get it fixed 1 was so mad for people being so dishonest problem with it is the motor controller just built it to the motor controller that is the problem and it's something that you cannot buy because Ryobi don't carry it or they don't sell it they will send you to a third-party shop to get it fixed and most likely will not get fixed because you're out of warranty why you think it's only have a 3 year limited warranty unlike Ridgid have a lifetime warranty same company different brand built

@@shawnrsingh thanks very much appreciate that this snow blower is a good snow blower but the problem is that the motor controller is very weak so it failed and you cannot buy second-hand one from someone you have be the rightful owner so if you buy it from someone you cannot get it to replace if for some reason something goes wrong Ryobi will not replace it without the receipt thanks very much wish everyone a happy NO snow year LOL all the best your Ryobi S/B

Short answer: Ryobi yard tools are garbage. Long answer: it sounds like your brushless motor has a sensor issue, where the esc thinks the motor is at a certain position when in reality it's not, which causes it to power the wrong wire to get it started. The timing is off

Sounds a whole lot like somebody has a gravel driveway and they are letting the blower eat gravel causing damage. Even when you use the replacement snowblower it sounds like it's catching gravel..... not good for a plastic single stage snow blower.. Happens with every brand of plastic single stage blower. I have that same blower and there is a safety warning about gravel in the manual.
