The RYOBI 3,600 PSI 2.5 GPM Gas Pressure Washer With Honda GX200 Engine is an awesome base for a homeowner, but here are some of the items we recommend in the video to upgrade.
→ 50 Foot Hose with QD: amzn.to/2KI58sy
→ Pressure Washer Wand QD: amzn.to/2RSzRF2
→ Quick Disconnects and Swivels: amzn.to/2NcqhNh
→ 6 in 1 Head: amzn.to/2X3dfSd
→ 5 Pack of Tip $7: amzn.to/2XCxFpo
→ Turbo Nozzle: amzn.to/3ncmQVu
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here are some advertised features of the RYOBI 3,600 PSI 2.5 GPM Gas Pressure Washer With Honda GX200 Engine:
3600 psi and 2.5 GPM (High PSI, Lower GMP)
Powerful Honda GX200 commercial engine (Has Fuel Shut-Off)
Brass head triplex pump (Ryobi Branded)
Adjustable throttle (Manual)
35 ft. high-pressure hose and auxiliary handle
Reversible handle for compact storage (Works!)
On-board nozzle storage
10-inch flat-free wheels (Solid Rubber)
The RYOBI 3,600 PSI 2.5 GPM Gas Pressure Washer With Honda GX200 Engine is a great pressure washer for any homeowner who wants more power with a good engine I'm a package that is easy to use and store. 99% of most complaints will be about the stiff hose or lack of swivels. I put links above to correct those issues and it does not cost that much! In my opinion, correcting the hose and lack of quick disconnects make this pressure washer more of a joy to use than a chore. Fighting the hose, like you saw me do in the video, is not fun and can cause the user to knock things over or damage items.
The Honda GX200 Engine
All modern Honda GX series engines have a forged crank and cast-iron bore. Honda rates the GX200 at 5.5 Net HP @ 3,600 rpm with Net Torque at 9.1 lb-ft @ 2,500 rpm. Those specifications make this a great engine for a pump or small generator. Staying with Honda quality, this engine is also easy to start and fairly quiet. To me, that is great info, but what I appreciate most from this engine is the fuel shut-off valve that allows the drainage of the carburetor bowl after use. Draining the bowl by turning off the fuel and letting the engine run will help the carburetor to stay cleaner and make starting the engine easier for longer periods of time.
RYOBI has a manual throttle on this engine that seems to work out for the best for this price point. There is no pressure valve that will automatically adjust the throttle up and down, so there is much less that can go wrong long term. For the user, they can use the throttle to adjust the pressure down for more sensitive work where automatic idle down does not allow that. If the user decided they need to change wands or get more soap, they bring the engine to an idle and do their task without the worry of overheating the brass pump in the short term. There are more benefits to this than negatives from where we see it.
Another positive for the Honda GX200 engine is the fuel tank size. The capacity is .82 gallons or 3.1 liters. That is large enough to allow you to work for a few hours without interruption. Many of the similarly priced models in this range come with tanks half that size with knock-off motors that chew up fuel leaving you to fuel up every 45 minutes.
RYOBI Triplex Pump
There is not a lot of information available on the water pump used on this pressure washer other than it does have a 5-year warranty. There is a sight glass in the rear of the pressure washer that shows the oil level in the pump. Some people would rather never change the oil in anything, but we rejoice when we see that this pump can allow for normal oil changes and has a very easy-to-read oil level indicator. Changing the oil in this pump takes zero skill at all and might take 5-minutes total. It is worth having the pump this way for long-term use.
The big elephant in the room is the fact that this pressure washer has 3,600 PSI and less than 3-gallons per minute. Most commercial pressure washers of this size would have 3.3 plus GPM. But remember, this unit is priced much better than a commercial unit and is also made for the homeowner. So while many might bash this for being light on GPM, the reality is that for residential use, it works just fine and would be just slightly slower cleaning than its commercial counterparts that cost twice as much.
Overall 4.5 Stars
Overall, this is a great pressure washer that needs about $75 dollars in parts to make it near perfect. What tool these days does not need an upgrade? If you look at any circular saw, they all need a new blade after you purchase them. In this case, the hose needs to be replaced and life is good.
Maintain this unit with annual oil changes and the use of Sta-Bil Fuel Stabilizer in the fuel and Pump Saver before the winter and this pressure washer will last you a lifetime.

Nice review, thanks! I bought a PowerBoss with the Honda engine three years ago (3100 PSI 2.7 GPM) and, since I spent some time, with a friend, doing professional power washing, I replaced the screw-on connections with with quick disconnect connections and set up a real wand with a proper quick disconnect. 3/8" connection at the machine and wand and the 1/4" to the nozzles. Proper hose which doesn't bind (3/8" connectors at each end) Made a big difference and I can use my surface cleaner with no issues. Again, thanks! (I gotta remember to shut that gas valve off instead of just flipping the engine switch!) :) EDIT: BTW, nice links in your text below the vid - I've already ordered two of those items.

Hi, I know this is an older video but I thought I would give this a shot. I am starting the unit for the first time. Directions say to remove the White plug and red tag. It points to the white cap screwed into the top of the Triplex pump. That does not make sense to as there is oil in that unit. I can only assume this is a typo, but since it says it I am concerned. Thanks

When new, there is a seller in the vent plug so it does not leak oil in shipping. You need to make sure the plug on the top of the water pump has the vent open. You might pull a small rubber or plastic piece out of that plug for the vent to work.

Great review. I have exact model now 1 year old. It has a grey valve marked oil and on other side a black one not marked. Are both for oil? Is the silver hex nut under the pump/oil box how you drain the oil? What weight oil is your preference? Finally, do you use the pump bottle treatment prior to winter storage?

Any tips on buying a used pressure washer? I really need it for detailing my cars, and doing general cleaning around my house (driveway, a cement slab patio, wood deck, wood siding, glass windows). I really don’t want to have to spend $700 on a unit...when I’m only gonna wash things around the house once a year, and mostly use it for car washes. I do prefer quality (generally I’m a buy once cry once kinda guy), so if you tell me it’s impossible to get a good unit for anything under $700...I’d have to bite the bullet (and maybe split it with my dad, who’s always complaining that we have “too many tools already”, and doesn’t like ponying up for new stuff if he can avoid it, lol!). Id really prefer to keep it to under $300, under $100 would be fantastic (though I doubt it’s realistic)...I have seen some used units for less than $100 around me though generally they’re under 3000 psi, and or really old/used looking.

As with almost anything with a motor, buying used can be a risk. I would look for a good looking horizontal shaft unit with low hours. Make sure to run it for some time before you purchase it. make sure it does not over heat.

I have had this one for a year. Immediately changed to quick release and used a differed 100" commercial hose. I recently have an issue with pressure. I cleaned the carb runs ok. removed the pressure relief valve... the pin moves freely, once installed and moved out I have to hold trigger down or else pressure builds and cuts off. tried spraying out what I could access, but any ideas if its not the relief vale? thanks. basically I bought it because of the GX Honda... it was this the Simpson or Dewalt. For whatever reason a couple years ago dewalts were all other the place for $300-500 and on facebook and craigslist.

How is anyone getting the hose to work, which has male and female qd ends, with the qd kit? I’m finding it converts the set up to need a female qd on each end of the hose but I’m having trouble finding a female to female qd piece to make this work. This is so frustrating as I just want to get rid of this factory hose. In short, exactly what is needed to run an aftermarket hose with one male and one female qd?
