If you want to give one away, let me know. I was about to start a residential pressure washing business where I just moved to, and someone stole my dang equipment out of the building it was stored in, 3 hours away where I'm originally from. Let my tool insurance lapse due to financial difficulties, like a moron, and learned an expensive lesson. I know these aren't made for most residential jobs, but having a small one is great for some jobs.

Would a test of battery powered power washers be worth it. I recently purchased a Dwalt 40 volt power washer thinking possibly that a DC powered motor with the advantage of a DC batteries inherently greater ability to provide more power than a 120 volt AC powered system. I was seriously disappointed and immediately returned it. Dwalt should be embarrassed by offering such a poor performing piece of equipment. Maybe there are other manufacturers that are offering better options. I hope you decide to test this option.

@smileyguyz3 жыл бұрын
@False Flag I do. As an automotive detailing enthusiast, you'll never get that layer off with just a pressure wash. Usually you can make it more manageable by washing your vehicle more frequently, as the dirt tends to embed deeper the longer it sits. I recommend ceramic coating, or waxing, if you want to be able to just blast it off every once in a while. Doesn't keep it perfectly clean, but it really helps. Even the cheaper kits you'll find on Amazon should do the trick.

@Ben C Yeah, I have a Honda-based pressure washer from 1997 - I replaced the pump this year, but the engine is still going strong. The old pump was still working, but one of the oil seals on the crank case (of the pump, not the engine) was shot, and oil leaked out, and water got into the crank case. One of the ceramic plungers was cracked which probably started all the problems (probably froze :( ) - you'd be lucky to get 2 or 3 years out of one of these little toys, compared to 24 years out of a quality unit.

I BBQ alot. 4-5 days a week. All year long. I have had almost every propane BBQ made. Full size and portable. Most work pretty good overall and will cook food. The real issue with propane BBQ's is longevity and price. Because I'm a cheapskate, I tried most cheaper brands. None worked at 100% for more than 3 years. None. Usually 1 1/2-2 years and the igniter doesn't work. Also the burners start to go. Then one year I got a weber genesis as a birthday present. I knew the webers were good because other family members had them. After 22 years, I finally rebuilt it with a new igniter and burners. Worked like new again. I gave it to my son and now it's almost 30 years old and still cooks like a champ. I started picking up old weber that people threw out and I rebuild them and sell them cheap. So easy to do. I would love to see a BBQ shootout. I think the hardest thing to test would be longevity so we would need yearly updates. Weber BBQs are usually at least twice as much as most other BBQ but will last almost forever. You really can't compare the overall value and even cooking of a weber to ANY other BBQ in my life experience. Also the weber company is such a pleasure to deal with. I'm looking forward to this video if/when it happens. Thanks for all your hard work!

@gabiold3 жыл бұрын
That would be interesting. By any chance the motor on the Karcher runs continuously? Because the pressure drop at the begining might be the effect of a so called offloader valve. Better (industrial) units does not start/stop cycle the motor with a pressure switch, instead there is an interesting valve which reduces the pressure to some idle level when there is no flow. Then when you press the trigger, it senses the flow and changes over to high pressure. A simple blow-off valve would continuously load the pump at max pressure, which is not ideal.
@jothain3 жыл бұрын
@@howardosborne8647 What I've heard is that unfortunately even many "mid priced" models use plastics these days. By mid price I mean range between cheapos and water heating models. It's really unfortunate as models in that range are fairly expensive. I sincerely hope that these are minority, but still, I've heard quite many people having "reputable" brands break in way too short time period. I fully understand their pain if they find plastics in pumps. I had to get pressure washer and I went for one of the cheapos because of that. I'm almost 100% certain that it has plastics, but it's cheap and well it's lasted better than I've anticipated. I suppose pretty much only guaranteed way to get better materials is to have heater models, but that's a steep price and quite overkill to pay for normal household usage.
