*Correction* it’s $799 with ONE 6ah battery and charger. They recommend running it with TWO batteries for maximum output. I ran it with 2x 4ah batteries here. Let me know if you have any questions about this unit 🙌

I have a question to ask how long does the 2 battery's last on that lawn mower from full battery to flat battery and would use that lawn mower to do your lawn mowing job?
@bilalcakir5750
@bilalcakir5750 4 ай бұрын
@@TylerMiller-nz9onexpect around 40-50 mins on a 6ah battery but that is usually running with no load, on normal conditions 30 mins is ideal. Running 2 batteries same time gives it a slight power boost but doesn't increase runtime, If you need endurance, use single battery one after another, if needing performance then use 2 together. Considering 36v batteries are pricey, not many ppl will have 2 batteries on deck but if you do, i believe better to have longer runtime than extra power

@@bilalcakir5750 I also find it hard to give estimates for runtime with electric. Because my trimmer can go for 1 hour with light edging, but it's 15 minutes at full power in thick grass.

Got the same mower with a 6Ah battery, we get 80-90% of our yard done with the one battery, approx 575m2. Only used the catcher once, been using the mulcher ever since and the grass has never been greener. It powers through the longer grass, this year has been pretty bad with rain the sun this summer. I have the 'smart-boost' version that takes 2 x 36V batteries. Bought it to replace a petrol-powered Honda. Worth ever cent. I can cut my modest 150sqm of lawns and only use about 30% of the battery-capacity. Cut's cleanly and fills the catcher efficiently. Money well spent.

One thing a lot of people don't realise that yes the lighter weight can be an advantage to better manoeuvre it but it also is a disadvantage because it isn't as glued to the ground as a heavier petrol mower and therefore you have to do more passes to get the same cut quality. It doesn't look like you will be replacing your Masport anytime soon with battery for jobs.

I work in estates doing verges roundabouts and all sorts of areas, people stop on a roundabout to try ask me something, so I gotta pull my earplugs out and stop what I'm doing because I love being on a roundabout as it is so why not even longer and stay for a chat, you'd be surprised at how many people have no common sense at all especially at the danger of them just casually stopping on a roundabout. I’ve had one of these for 8 years now with the big brick 36v battery and it’s been a trooper. ¼ acre of buffalo grass in SW Victoria where I need to cut at least once a week… absolutely will state this a great machine. Light, quiet, and plenty of power. Original battery (36v 5AH) just packed it in after 8 years. This is good innings! AND NO PETROL TO DEAL WITH!

I have the 36V 46cm brushless model with the 5ah brick battery. I have a buffalo lawn and with the lawn at the height you mowed it struggles doing a first pass at high setting. It is difficult to push through the longer grass, something not quite right with the design as the front seems to dig in. The shute keeps blocking up to the catcher if grass is slightly moist and the catcher drags its backside on the ground to the point it is wearing through. Only good for a much shorter kept lawns in my opinion. I like the spongy lawn underfoot and the 36 year old old four stroke Rover still does it easily.

I have the model down which just uses one battery at a time, no modes (it's always auto). Even with long grass it's great. A 6ah battery normally does my entire 500m2 yard in one. When it struggles is with long, wet, mossy growth after winter. Then I'll need to charge halfway and take it slow, and I'll line trim the long parts first. Charger is fast though so no worries. I really just need another battery to swap in. I might upgrade to the new 53cm self propelled one, when the time comes. Looks so beastly :D

I have a buffalo lawn that is growing gangbusters now that thecmonsoon has finally arrived in the Top End. I have a Stihl electric mower and am dreading mowing the lawn once the rains have done their thing. I love my mower, but the thick, wet buffalo is really going to test it! When you've done a few of these reviews would you consider doing a compilation video and compare a variety of brands? Lawnmowers, whipper snippers, blade edgers, hedge trimmers and whatever else comes up. I have mostly Stihl products & am interested in how they compare with others. With electric stuff you're kinda stuck with one brand unless you're prepared to buy all the batteries - which gets a bit expensive. I started with Ryobi, but their whipper snipper sucked so I jumped ship early. Still have their mini hedge trimmer and lawn clippers which come in handy.

My second cut is at level 3 crossways, just like you did in video. There is no mess as I regularly empty the catcher at half full. It takes 2.5 to 3 batteries to mow the lawn. Absolutely love it! I had a 36v Ryobi mower, lasted about 5 years doing a buffalo lawn similar to this one. At 5 years, the plastic on the handles had become brittle and started snapping. I also replaced the 36v battery twice in that time. They just failed to hold charge after about 2 years. I replaced it with a victor classic 4 stroke which was considerably cheaper, and to date, way more reliable.

It did OK - if you went away for 4 weeks in winter, and came back, and that was your mower... you'd get it done... I think the higher speed also helps a lot more when it comes to either bagging or mulching - a good test of the power is to set it low, and run it along the path as a vacuum with an empty catcher... see how much suction it really can generate... I reckon wet AND long grass would choke it...

I have a Ryobi CLT1830, 2012 model. Have been using it almost 10 yrs myself. Loved it from the first time I used it. Way easier to handle than even a lighter petrol trimmer. Came with a 1.4 battery that is also still going. Bought 2nd hand off gumtree, one of those thing you buy just to try one. Head has tilt adjustment, handle has length adjustment. Has only 1 string. Easy to load string like a sewing machine bobbin. I thought it would not do too much. Well, I have not mixed 2 stroke fuel since I bought it. Great for edging, tilt the head, flip it over as you see done in this video, no worries. (I will say though, I did develop the same technique after a short time, of mowing first, then trimming, being easier on the trimmer and easier to see where to cut.) The trimmer is small and light and I have no idea how it is still going, but it is. Use mainly with 2.5 and 5ah batteries. The 5ah gives it a bit more torque and you can easily hear the difference in performance as you use it. Used on other houses for family members as well, so it gets a fair amount of work! For heavy going, I bought a heavier Victa, maybe 32 volt that was too aggressive to do the edging but a wild slasher for the heavy grass that gets overgrown. It has a large battery, Briggs & Stratton style that lasted just about 7 years. Loved using it, heaps of power, no mixing fuel 👍 Sticking to the petrol mower though for sure.

I have one, so far the motor has never bogged down, when it starts to struggle you can hear it ramp up and just keeps on going. As for the catcher, it doesn't leave much behind until it gets over half full which happens very quickly, it will require you to empty it a fair bit.

The next day with 2 fresh 6AH batteries I ran over the whole yard to clean it all up AND do the front and still had 2 bars left on each battery. The biggest issue I have with the mower, is that when the grass is long and wet, the chute clogs a lot and you have to frequently empty or unclog the chute. Other than that - awesome mower. Good video mate. I have use of the ecoteq 60inch commercial ride on, one thing about them is you have to preserve that battery throughout the day, some areas are thicker than others so even the ride on struggles to go through thick areas or even elastic grass, so sometimes a day of mowing can be drastically reduced because of a ridiculous thickness in the lawns especially after rain, so you have to monitor it like a hawk, where as petrol/diesel you run out, you can fill up and be back mowing within 5/10 mins, but with electric you can't go any further for the day, and the charge takes 8-12 hours. Bloody frustrating in the commercial world. Unless you are mowing the same areas by the third or fourth day, which is impossible for us as a thick summer mow would take us 6/7 days

I’m cutting on setting #7 (90mm) on my ego 21” inch mower (quite high). A lot of peeps say with buff the higher the better! Holds more moisture, looks greener and withstands the heat waves better. It looks phenomenal but if I dare try to cut lower on setting #4 for example it bogs and will not cut thru all the stolons and thickness…. It’s only been thru 2 seasons of proper lawn care since I moved into the house and I primarily use 2SpecElevate as my fertiliser. Reckon the 2Spec is making it grow too thick or is it just getting great water/sunlight for it to grow so thick?

A lot of bucks for a pretty average mower, Until they match petrol on torque and durability I would pass on buying until all things are comparable. I do have two battery mowers, an early Ryobi and a Bosch, both 36v. Each one was dumped on the kerb from loose wiring. Easy fix. I use them on a handful of mini lawns. Both cut fine, but don't stand a chance an overgrown lawn.

@@turfandtools Ah. Do you have any recommendations about what might be a good brand/mower for starting up a little one man mowing business? I was thinking I would probably go the electric route, I've seen some models by Greenworks for commercial use which seem pretty decent.

Mowing in the blue mountains is heaps different from these squares of grass in the suburbs! You need to deal with lots of sticks heaps of leaves rough terrain, strong weeds and grasses. I use a petrol mower. If you’re doing ten lawns a day that’s a lot of batteries!
@turfandtools
@turfandtools 4 ай бұрын
I definitely wouldn’t use a DIY battery mower for 10 lawns a day. My ideal setup is a commercial petrol self propelled coupled with a lighter battery for access and light maintenance.

Whatever you do, make sure you buy a 36v one. I bought a 18v one during Covid as there were no 36v available, and it struggles.
@Mububban23

I find my 18v is fine because I keep it fairly neat, simply because it’s so much nicer to use than the old heavy noisy smelly 2 stroke! So longer thicker grass is something I don’t allow to happen, whereas before mowing was such a PITA i did ignore it, then it got too long….. Loving my electric garden tools!
