I bought one after seeing how well the attachments work in this video, hope they send you some beer money. Most of the other videos are trying to chop down three foot tall weeds with the light string head that comes with it.

Thanks for your video. I just got the ego 56v trimmer and these battery powered tools really make petrol ones pointless for average home owners. It's really good to see an honest review from a normal guy instead of review people.

Thank you for taking the time to do the side by side comparison. I was about to reject the 40v unit, but l like it much better, just for the fact that I wont have to store gas at my house, and have to pre mix the oil, also it is a lot quieter. Thank you!

1. Thank you for a highly relevant review. I also live in Florida. I've seen what passes for "grass" up north and unless you are reviewing something in Florida a lawn equipment review done up north is useless for down here. 2. This was a good side by side apples to apples comparison much appreciated. 3. I am the son of a retired lawn maintenance man I know lawn equipment.

Thank for uploading this video.. After watching it I went ahead and purchased a Ryobi 40v trimmer just like yours from Home Depot. I have to say I love it.. Its the first trimmer I have ever owned that my wife has ever used. She loved it.. Its light.. Great power.. Does all my yard needs..

Thanks for the review. I've had my Ryobi gas trimmer for 18 years and it's time for a new one. I tried to do a tune up on the thing and at times trying to start my trimmer takes for ever or it gets flooded and I have to wait an hour to start it up again. my next purchase will be a battery operated trimmer

Thanks for this review. My 2 stroke Ryobi needs to be repaired ($100bill so Im gonna get a new one instead). I have all the expand-it attachments so I was looking at getting another gasser, but your review might have just changed my mind. I purchased an EGO 56V lawn mower earlier this summer and love it, so i'm already an electric convertee. These new high voltage outdoor tools are becoming more and more impressive.

THANK YOU! I wish KZbin search would've brought me to your video first!!! You told me what I neeeded to know! I can tell we think alike! I wanted to know how the battery worked with the attachments compared to the gas. You did NOT have stupid background/theme music! (Thank You!) No drawn out intro. You got to the point! And Thank YOU for not showing us how you open the box!!! PERFECT review!!! I think I'm going to go with the battery afterall. I can tell by the way your gas motor started...you know how to properly maintain a gas engine. So that tells me your review has credibility. I may make a review/comparison video as well. Not to compete with yours but to reinforce if my experience is the same. Thank You!!!

I have this same 40V trimmer, and edger. I well never go back to gas. My house property is 7000sq/ft and i'm able to trim, edge, and use the ryobe 40v blower all on the same battery. Its just enough to finish my yard. It did take a few tries to use the unit to get the full efficiency out of 1 charge. I'm your typical homeowner too, but I do take pride in my yard and this trimmer is up to part with what I expected.

Nice enough video. What you failed to consider and what would have been good to add, would be a comparison of the cost. Keep in mind that with the 40V you're investing in a 'system' and the cost of the battery and charger should be considered aside from the cost of the trimmer itself.

The best review I have seen for an electric trimmer, thank you so much for the side by side comparison! My biggest worry is the long term reliability of the batteries. Now that it has been about a year has your opinion on it changed at all? Is the battery and strength of the motor held up?
@JasonInTampa
@JasonInTampa 8 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late response on this. So I've had this for about two years and amazingly enough the battery lasts just as long for me. I've changed up how I use it though, edge before I cut, Mow the grass while It charges, and then finish the job up.

My Ryobi 40V worked great for about one year and then it started to slow down especially if I run it for more than an hour. I had it replaced at HD. The second one is also slowing down after one year. ( I do not recommend using it continuously for more than 45 minutes). I hope yours didn't slow down. I will still buy another one because I do not want to use a noisy and smelly gas trimmer. I also have a lot of edging to do on my corner lot (probably about 6x more) and the string trimmer does a better and faster job of edging than the edging attachment. Let me know if your Ryobi is starting to slow down.

@brenthill5596
@brenthill5596 9 жыл бұрын
evans387 No not yet. I've always been a gas man too. this Ryobi trimmer looks every bit as powerful as the EGO 56 volt when cutting but the EGO seems more attractive visually, and the grip handle is far superior to the Ryobi. the Ryobi can change out attachments though, giving it a slight upper hand.
@JasonInTampa
@JasonInTampa 9 жыл бұрын
Brent Hill Sorry for the late response. I guess it depends on the size of your yard and how much you use it. I would say on a full charge it will last maybe 45 min of edging.

+xevnoc Yes I do. I love this trimmer. I've changed how I use it to be more efficient. Now I edge/trim part of my yard before I cut the grass. If the battery dies It will charge while I cut and be ready 3/4 full once I'm done cutting to finish the job. I love that I don't have to worry about keeping gas/oil in my garage.

+Jason Brown Good deal. I'm in pretty much the same boat. I run a campground and have the Ryobi gas trimmer, I wanted something less disruptive. I was worried that the electric would just "massage" the grass. Your video convinced me. I hope Ryobi is kicking you back something, it seems like your video has convinced quite a few people to make a purchase.
