This video would make a lot more sense if you would run the test one tool at a time and put them on a split screen with a timer, this will allow you more control and consistency throughout the testing. And as a viewer it will provide us more accurate info. On multiple tests your angles are considerably off, you are hitting the tools together, and the amount of force you can apply varies between your hands. Not a hater, just see there is room for improvement. Thanks for the vid.

I don't know about you, but I can drive things much faster and more accurately with my right hand than with my left. It seemed that the one in YOUR right hand won most if the time. And doing one at a time, you probably could have kept them perpendicular. Having said that, just judging off this video, I won't be upgrading my 238 any time soon.

You should, I own both impacts and don’t have any obvious bias like the guy in this video, the new HP is way better, I drive larger fasteners than this guy used all the time with no problems, I feel like he was intentionally not putting pressure on the new one to try to make the old one seem better for some reason but as an actual tradesman who uses them regularly, the new HP is significantly stronger, almost Milwaukee level.

I will not trade up,if anything I will get another p238 before they get pulled out of stores. I install kitchen cabinets in PR were 95% of homes are made in concrete and this 238 has served me extremely well driving in anything from 2 to 3 inch tapcons into cement walls without a hiccup to secure all kind of cabinets. The p238 was kind of overbuilt at the time of it's inception.

By the way, from what I understand, and what Ryobi has said, the HP is built into the tool. I will say, when I'm working at arm's length on something delicate, that doesn't need to be over torqued, it would be nice to have some adjustment on the tool.

I’m going off my first hand knowledge of the technology in the new compact hp tools here but aren’t the NEW HP BRUSHLESS tools seen here supposed to work the same way? Meaning the new technology offers the user a series of warning ⚠️ lights when the tools is over worked or not used correctly. To keep the user from burning the tool up. I’m asking because I seen in this video at 16:18 the new impact driver cut out and I didn’t see any warning lights flashing! Also when the p238 started to slow down during the test and allow the new impact to pull ahead at 15:11 of the video I would be very interested to know if it was due to battery drain or simply the other driver was the better tool. Did you happen to check batteries during the test to see if one used more battery then the other? I never seen you check the batteries.

I forgot to check the batteries in the video, sorry about that. The batteries were 3/4 full. The new impact didn't give a warning you're right. and it did stop turning the lag, but didnt stop the motor and impacts. I would have to run the test back to see if I could get it to go into safe mode or fail..... Thanks for the comment

The new impact driver could have been a good impact wrench but the p238 is a awesome impact driver but they are getting hard to find now.

Those are very versatile tools, I dont even use a drill driver anymore I go straight for the impact driver. I just ordered the p238 just couldn't beat the price of 69 dollars tool only i have plenty of batteries hope i made a good choice

Just got the impact driver. It's collet is so out of round or wobbles so much it almost strips the screw head. You can actually feel and and see it when it's just spinning

Funny thing about assist mode. I think some people really need it because when i let someone use my nicd dewalt drill. They go full blast even though i have explained how to use a variable speed trigger

I just ordered the 4 setting impact driver. I just broke the quiet drive by sending it flying and broke the motor mounts. I was rather impressed with the quiet drive pulse driver.

I'm so thankful to have found a video on this new impact driver, though I would much rather have an at least a single LED at the anvil. My 9+yr old Ryobi P236A brushed 1/4" impact has 3, like the older unit you're using for this comparison. In fact, the older brushless version looks much like the much bigger, but less ballsy P236. I have another, slightly newer brushed Ryobi 1/4" impact my wife bought me at a yard sale, but I don't feel it's as powerful as the P236. Too many times I missed having the LEDs in the anvil facing the work I'm trying to get done where there's something in the freaking way of the light. Moving it to the handle is bullsh!t Ryobi. Not a fan. This makes me want to step up to team-Red or team-Yellow. Maybe I'll go with Flex. They've got that next level cooling fan that cools the battery down before charging.

The only issue I have with this auto feature is when it fluctuate power up from down like that it causes ion battery's to drain faster causing less run time

while the New driver seems nice (slightly smaller size and the assist mode), I still see the P238 as better overall from a usability perspective. Opinions from my perspective; 1. You get the belt clip, come on ryobi start including those everyone else does...... 2. switch selector for the speed instead of having to flip through modes (I like knowing what speed I'm and set on without gripping the trigger) 3. tri-beam led's , though some argue the light coming from the battery area is better because larger bits create shadows (to that I say if you bit is large enough that the tri-led's are making shadows then your using the wrong tool and should move up to an impact wrench or hammerdrill) 4. more torque where it matters most, you notice this in the 10" lags where the new driver gave up earlier even though it got to that point faster I'd rather get the work done that have my tool give up early (granted 10" lags are not something you should be using a 1/4" hex impact driver for, they already have more torque than those 1/4" shanks can handle which is why those adapters shear so often) Also as other viewers mentioned please switch to doing the test with 1 tool at a time and then timing the test and comparing the tests after, that allows to clearly see which was faster while reducing variables that interfere with the tests. Also means redoing a test isn't a big deal if the tool decides to try and send you to low earth orbit :P Anyways keep on trucking hope to see this channel grow and improve.

The Tri beams can get blocked by your hand when holding fasteners and bits, but the lower led isn't obstructed in that situation.

My old P238 can take out my Nissan Titan lugnuts and my Ram 2500 Diesel wheel lugnuts without the need for the use of 3/8's or 1/2" Impact Wrench. However if I'm gonna need to take out Axle P238 cannot do it so Impact Wrench is a must for that kind of work.

+Pedro “impact drivers not meant to take off lug nuts..” That statement is INVALID anymore, and getting old really fast! The torque is going high & higher ratings for these impacts, 2,200in-lbs.. that’s 183.333Ft-lbs! Which beats up on a lot of IMPACT WRENCHES especially the 3/8” anvil ones, Although, if using impact drivers on wheels lug nuts, you’ll have to consider that you’re using socket adapters, and that if they can handle such torque or not.

@@DanielGomez-cf6vk no, they're made really well with glass fiber reinforced nylon. That's as good as it gets in terms of tool material. Also the new hp impact is more balanced. Unfortunately it lacks the trip beam lights and mag tray

Seriously, you just did a test (new video) with the new Ryobi (USA) against the Australian version and the new one one (you did it the right away way doing one model impact wrench and then other, not the garbage you did here with one in each hand) and the new Ryobi (USA) won. You then did a separate video with P238 with Australian model and it was a tie. So how can in this video the P238 win but in your Australia vs new Ryobi (USA) model the USA wins. Redo this entire video doing once impact with both hand then the next one. None of this two hand (one on each garbage). I have the P238 and I am making my decision to get the new one or not based on your improved test.

You have a valid point on the one hand, this was the (first video) and people had the same feed back so I did the other video in split screen. Here is another good point in the US vs AU the driver actually drove the 10” all the way, so I think it had to be “broken in” and then performed better...... anyways thanks for the feed back

I watched this video again you did switch up on which hand was driving which tool so I guess it could be a wash. Did you find the PB vibrates more than the P238. I wish Ryboi had included the tri beam led and magnet screw holder on the PB (especially the tri beam). The magnet and belt clip (I never used) are mostly omission from new line up. Yes there is a screw for belt clip on new line but it doesn't have indentation like old one and beefier insert told hold the belt clip better like the old ones did.

If you notice his dominate right hand pushes harder and faster then his left hand. Not a good test at all. Going to not take this test seriously. Way too many variables using both at the same time. Sorry man not the way to test head to head.

The hp range is all brushless...so no it isn't just a gimmick. Never heard anything so dumb in my life. Reading the comments you have no clue what you're doing either
