You may have much better dust collection if you set the depth just beyond the thickness of the material. Great video

And by setting the depth to a 1/16th or less you might be able to make turns for some projects?

Did you try using it to just score the line and then snap it off. Might prevent that little tang or chip at the end of the cut . That might be from the weight of the cut piece breaking away before being totally cut. But a nice tool just the same. Beats using a squirt bottle with my angle grinder

Should be cutting with the finish surface down. The blade should always (ideally) transit from the finished side to the back. On a tile saw, the finish side is up because the blade is cutting down, into the tile. This saw is cutting up so flip the tile.
@davefink2326
@davefink2326 10 ай бұрын
That seems like a practical drawback of this tool. We always mark the finished surface for cutting. How would we see that surface when tile is upside down?

Nice job as usual with this presentation. You just need to change your technique up a bit to keep from getting a rough corner at the end. I know it's just a tool demo and not a "how to cut tile " demo though. I like the water addition for sure. It will keep the tiles from overheating and cracking in the middle of a cut as well as add to the life of the blade. I used to use a Roto-zip tool and it was disappointing without being able to use water in the tool. It looks like a great little portable solution for doing tile work. I agree that it should come with the fence but maybe one is available as an accessory. I see this as more of a free hand solution. If you really want a precision cut, the sliding table type saws with the pan underneath are the way to go. They have problems with their circulator pumps though when the pickup isn't in clean water and that usually causes the inexperienced guys lots of headaches. This little saw solves that by having just clean water for the cut.

Those little buggies are great for cutting CBUs. I have an old Workforce unit (THD 250), plug version from back in the late 90s that cuts CBUs, brick and whatnot with ease. A battery version would be a good fit for when you have no power. It came with a fence which worked perfectly for those times that I needed it to cut CBUs.

I'm thinking you might be driving the saw too fast and not letting it do the work. And Jeremy is right, depth is crucial with any work. That bottle perched on the top looks like a good place to see it busted. Replacements available? I cut slate much thicker for stepping stones and bought a hole saw for a marble steam shower. Wet is good.

I have the Ryobi TC4014 4in. Wet tile saw that I have used to install hundreds of 2in. pavers. It sucks having to cut on one side and flip it over and cut again. I got excited when I saw this thumbnail, but why,why,why can't they make a wet tile saw (that doesn't cost $$$$$) to cut 2 in. pavers? Why? Apparently this new one only goes to 1-5/8 in.
