Great video & still relevant today! The pull cord on my Ryobi finally separated after 8 years of use. I watched a few other videos on replacement but yours was by far the most detailed regarding resetting the recoil spring! Thanks so much brother, you saved me lots of time & $$$!

Thanks very helpful video, but instead of removing the backpack lower screws, I put a small 2x4 between the cover and backpack and that provided enough space for me to reach the two hidden screws, and I had all 4 screws out and pull string replaced in less then 10 minutes and put back together, food for though!

I had to replace the starter bulb too and now I have to replace the pull cord. I will never buy Ryobi again! I would rather payup and get a quality machine. Thanks for your help. Very professional.

The starter bulb will go out on any of them. Ethanol fuel eats them up. Cannot blame Ryobi for that one.

my phone is not typing right felt like I was seeing it in reverse like looking a pic things are not the same so dont laugh at me but I did get thur the process I would of never been able to got the what ever you call it back if it flew out but seeing some of the videos my ex told me to take it to a shop was not possible to attempt it guess it happened to before but I did run the cord on thur and tied the knot big bit loose a little closer before I started to turn the spool over and over left slack and room to move the thing you pull so I didnt have to hold the tension so long when I got to the point of testing it easy then held it to adjust the k i felt better that way If it slipped it wouldn't be in my face

clear boxing tape will take you about 3 seconds to do it versus doing all that Frank and stuff tape each end of the rope and feed it through

great vid...I have same machine...used larger diameter rope.....all went ok inserting and winding but when I pull the cord it is making the wrong sound. its as if those plastic splines on the spool shaft are hitting something on every revaluation.....I lubed the spring.....lubed the plastic spline shaft like u did.....I cant figure out where the odd noise is coming from.....note this noise is just with the housing removed and cord installed........not attached to machine. Im gunna install it anyway to see if I can get this thing to start,

@@shabear1000 well can u tell me.....when u pull that pull string on that machine did u notice it sounding more like pulling a string through a box of rocks vs the sound we usually here in other machines which is just the piston and compression.......this thing is so loud when I pull the cord I cant here the engine......when I listen to other videos such as yours it does seem to sound loud as well. New parts have arrived...gunna install new carb...fuel filter...air filter...and fuel lines if needed......she should fire right up even with a loud pull cord. Im also gunna use True Fuel.....
@shabear1000
@shabear1000 5 жыл бұрын
It shouldn't be very loud. When you pull it down to put the new parts in, check it over and make sure everything is in there properly. Let me know what you find out.

Could’ve just folded the backpack cover pad forward and there is a slot that lets you access the screw to remove shroud without having to take it all apart

They must use some cheap ass cords for these blowers, my cord broke recently and it's not even three years old yet and has been stored in a building out of the weather. I've got other equipment 20+ years old that I've never had to replace the cord on.
