The game had serious issues tough, it deserved a lot of the criticism it’s got. I think there’s a lot of potential, some missions and the visuals are really good. But the core gameplay is extremely repetitive and lacks depth. You would fight the same 4 barbarian dudes for the entirety of the campaign, combat was just spamming X with the occasional counter and bash, boss fights weren’t interesting, coop mode was okay but not good enough to keep you engaged for long after the campaign. So i don’t really think it’s “underrated”, it is a interesting but ultimately flawed game.

Ignore the 'Historical' side of things, and this storyline is actually pretty interesting. The part that gets me is where King Oswald and Boudica are brought before Commodus. You can see from a proper angle that Oswald was no evil king, he fought against what he saw was an oppressive reign to his people and he did what a good leader does; save his people from oppression. You can see peace could've been made there, but oh how Pride of the mighty ruins nations. And then when you think it's over...this game brought a great plot twist at the end.

i really liked this game when it came out, and during that period this games graphics was so amazing and nothing else in compare looked better. The gameplay was fun, but it could be very tedious in the long run when my fingers just started to ache because of the games notorious control system. It was all about spamming buttons and waving the control stick back and fourth, especially in the last fight with Boudica. So after many tries of finishing that boss level, I stopped playing the game. But it was a good title, and it's "Colosseum Mode" was almost the best part with all the cool outfits you could unlock. It was all very cool stuff, and at the time really something new and fresh. Even today people seem to look back at it with respect and good memories, and I bet the game has still new players trying it out for the first time everyday. Probably so that even more play it now compared to when it actually came out way back 2013/2014. That's when I played it, and at the time it felt like almost the only cool game with a high budget you could play on the Xbox One system. Simular situation I suppose for those who owns an Xbox S series today, which seems to be a console that dosent yet have that many games at all.

Crytek mismanaged their money and invested in a social network. When that idea went down the toilet and they wasted all of their money, they couldn't develop a sequel. Microsoft was willing to fund a sequel but they wanted them to hand over the IP as collateral. Crytek didn't want to sell the IP so they sold their engine to Amazon for money to hold them off from bankruptcy.

Surprisingly the armour wasn't as heavy as you might think. around 44 lbs. including the sword and and small personal items. Its possible to swim in it.
