I became a bike curiour just before Covid, about January here in the states. Only delivered until about March and I'm holding off until we get our shit together. That said it was an unexpected joy. It's something more akin to a lifestyle than a job, you're maneuvering the streets, the people, the cars, the clock. I'm super conservative in my riding style, take few chances because Irefuse to put anyone into danger BUT that doesn't mean I'm free from the unexpected. Planning, reaction, instinct. It's both zen and intense. I loved it.

Almost all of these messenger videos on youtube that are introducing the work, fails to explain the biggest struggle: keeping the bicycle functional and clean every day, in all sorts of weather and season. When the pay is low, it takes alot of money of what you earn, to buy gear and parts, and to stand and clean the bicycle when you're home again and tired, wet and worked extra hours.

More visible unfortunately doesn't mean safer. Probably at night though. There was an experiment run trying different gilet while cycling on a motorway, and the one cyclist motorists noticed the most, was the one wearing a dark blue gilet that read POLICE.

Rahul R Nair in Australia probably $100 a day. Most companies pay per delivery so you have to ride your assistance off. Some places like law firms tip well but rarely get tips. Search New York bike messengers. They have some good documentarys.

had a co-worker how worked as a messenger like 10y ago in Frankfurt/Germany. Payment was a bit over 1k a month but he had to pay for all his spare parts. he was a strong and heavier man like 100kg. he destroyed every thing. even solid metal octalink axles. after the third frame he lost his lifetime warranty on cannondale frames. he quit after he got a wife and kid. wasn´t worth it anymore.

In NYC did Uber deliveries part time for about 3 months back in 2015, picked up like 900.00.... sometimes I be in the city 2 hours and no job. Only one day i did 9 hours for $120.... I said fk it I could make more at Mickey D's. Please consider you will spend money on the bike, they take 20% fee, and end of year you get a tax statement... you gotto pay taxes. So the 120 is basically $70.00
