Tired of the Mariah disrespect. Usually I love your guys reactions but this wasn't it. Eminem & Mariah are both legends in the game, both fantastic writers, and both of them did a lot for the culture ESPECIALLY hip hop. Mariah's the reason hip hop & pop collaborations became a staple of the genre, she popularized that thanks to Fantasy with ODB from Wu-Tang. Not to mention all the love she's shown to hip hop by giving Jay-Z his first #1 record, having countless collaborations with rap icons throughout her long career, and the way she remixs rap music into her music to make something great. It's fine to say you don't like the music, but all the body bashing and mocking of her features just to D ride Em is not a good look. Em's my #1 rapper, but this feud always brings out the worst in all the stans. Also the reason she sounds like T-Pain is because this song was in 2009 when that whole sound was "in", she's also using it for vocal effect rather than to cover up for a lack of singing talent like so many others usually do, and how autotune was meant to be used. T-Pain can sing, he's got a good voice, but he was marketed with that heavy autotune sound regardless. Mariah was just staying on trend for the time. The person who submitted this to you guys was also mistaken, she dissed him previously in 2002 on a song called "Clown", but that didn't get any airplay it was just an album cut. Em's referenced her in a few songs before and certainly after "Clown", he definitely "won" the beef, but both of their careers are still thriving despite what the stans like to think.

I'm guessing these guys are in their late 40's? I'm in my 20s, so I think they have a blind spot about how people 15-20 years younger than them perceive Mariah's music. I was fascinated by his opinion at the beginning that Mariah's music is more boring than Whitney Houston's. However, the Mariah I know is from her 2000's hits which are much more R&B, rhythmic, and hiphop influenced bangers. Mariah collabed a lot with rappers and embraced hiphop production which kept her relevant with a new generation while Whitney's new music floundered because times had changed. Mariah had songs with Nelly, Twista, Jay-Z, Ludacris, Bone Thugs n Harmony, DaBrat, Busta Rhymes, Cam'ron, Jadakiss, Diddy, Ma$e etc. - she successfully ingratiated herself into hiphop culture, which made her way cooler and current than Whitney. So I have the reverse opinion to you on that. Growing up we respected Whitney, but as a legacy act from yesteryear, not as a contemporary artist still in the game dropping radio bangers alongside rappers or Rihanna, Beyoncé or Usher in the late 00's like Mariah was. Apart from "I wanna dance with somebody" and "i will always love you" a lot of our generation didn't know Whitney's discography. I knew a lot of people bumping Mariah though....Mariah's bangers were everywhere in middle school in the late 00's, "We belong Together", "Shake it Off", "Touch My Body", and yes, "Obsessed". I didn't even realise the bulk of Mariah's music came from the 90s until I got older. Whitney's 80's stuff is still gold but I wasn't alive so there's no nostalgia there and some of the music sounds dated now, as does some of Mariah's, and that's why our generation gravitates to her 2000's music the most bc of our nostalgia, Whitney didn't have those bangers in the mid-to-late 2000's so there's a disconnect there.
