Say what you will but the reason I actually respect what Mariah did here (besides it being a good song) it was one of the first times that a POP STAR hit back, remember at that time Eminem had a habit of taking shots a pop/r&b acts that he felt couldn’t fight back, I mean they’re completely different music genres and really not structured to “battle” like rap is but somehow Mariah found a way to make a successful HIT song (yes, this song was a hit) against Eminem to the point where he had to respond. I like Eminem myself but honestly I think this was one of the hardest disses ever towards him and it’s not even close!

As for the “press conference vs conversation” topic: Keep in mind to be fair, that Mariah Carey has more number one singles than any other solo artist in history. (AIWFCIY was her 19th) More than Michael, Whitney, Janet, Elvis, Madonna and Celine. She’s barely shy of the Beatles. She’s been breaking and setting records since 1990. Always nipping at Madonna’s heels even though Madonna had a huge head start in the 1980’s. She’s also the only artist to have ever had a number one hit single in every decade since her debut. Also, Mariah Carey is the reason that Hip-Hop and R&B artist Crossovers exist. She started it all the way back with Ol’ Dirty Bastard in her “Fantasy” Remix video. At the time when she started doing it, no one else had, and the record label SONY thought she was crazy. I’m not saying Eminem hasn’t had his own share of success, but they are not on the same level. By the way, there are no people dressed like Eminem, that IS Mariah. That’s why “they” don’t look so much like him.

That's because every other artist released music differently. Michael for instance was mainly into releasing albums, first single after. He was mainly aimed at selling them more. He preferred sales more than charts that's why even if many artists today have more hits they can't match his level. Mike was selling heavily, if he had released them as single 's only and more frequently he would have set the record straight for the "hits". For example his "thriller" song was not #1 on the charts cause the album was released before. He was aiming for large sales more than charting he could have released them as singles before if he was more concerned about the hits only. As of today his albums are more selling than any of the artists you have mentioned above. His 4th best selling album surpasses sales of those artists' best selling albums that you mentioned above. Michael from his grave is selling out music better than these artists.

I also tend to side with Mariah in this issue because it's honestly kinda trashy behavior on his part. Whether or not they had a fling (which I don't believe they did), there's no doubt he tried to take advantage of her fame for himself, and no amount of "I'm just being real" excuses you from airing those kinds of private details to the public like that when the other party doesn't consent.
