Hi I’m the creator. Ryu took the correct main path, he got both checkpoints. The start door just takes you to the next room over, it’s just practice for that technique and alternate path. He saved time there. At the time I wasn’t so good at the game and clearing a level of that difficulty in one shot was too tricky without checkpoints for me so the key path is a shortcut. It’s actually really interesting, you guide the cannons that follow Mario and you can have them crush a boo 👻 back towards the start that pops out of the ground to get the key 🔑 then you have to respawn the blue platforms by resetting through the doors at the start (so you’re doing part of the section again) or go over to left as far as possible. It’s kinda tricky to time it right to kill the boo sometimes too and can be quite frustrating lol. The pipe after key door goes to 2nd checkpoint so either way you have to do the same ending of sliding under those bumpers at the very end. It’s a pretty fun alternate path and still kinda tricky to one shot it. Taking the checkpoints is actually easier overall if you can play from them when you die, but as you know when uploading I can’t use checkpoints and have to one shot it. Had to also clear from each checkpoint too. But I don’t remember if I got frustrated with stuff after first checkpoint cuz that’s quite a lot to one shot too, and just went backwards for the alternate route lol Maybe I did, I wasn’t so good back 5-6 years ago.

Hi I’m the creator. The key is actually hidden in a boo that pops out of the ground towards the start. Right when the blue platforming section begins, you can guide the cannons backwards towards the start of the level with some very careful wall jumps (really tricky going backwards though). And with good timing you can crush the boo that jumps out of the ground with a moving cannon(kinda hard too). Also key door eventually leads to 2nd checkpoint so you can save some time and skip the first one, although I still had to one shot all of that from the start which makes it a bit harder than what the players have to do since their progress is saved by checkpoints. In my defense I wasn’t good at the game 5-6 years ago and to one shot that kinda level would’ve taken me several hours. But I still really enjoyed the dev route lol 😂 had to also clear level from 1st checkpoint so that was very tedious too, not sure if I cheesed my own level a second time by going all the way back to start though, maybe I did lol

Thanks! I put a lot of effort into making it 5-6 years ago so that means a lot to me. It’s actually really fun for me, but it’s pretty tedious and can feel very long sometimes. It’s kinda scary to get it in super expert since it’s hard to know what to expect lol The ending scares a lot of people but it’s quite friendly with the option of letting you try as many times as you need.

@@petervansan1054 true, but I also set up some psychological factors that would force the player to find it easier like the cannons almost knocked ryu off the pipe he went out so he went back in , and several players had that same reaction before. The level is extremely limited in the amount of possible paths you can take , there was either go forward and take a huge risk being back at the start and most players wouldn’t take that kinda risk (the cannons also discourage it and the hidden pow does too cuz you can only get it once but there’s not enough time to think going back would not let you go “forward”), so you backtrack and naturally find it. And then you feel so relieved to get the second checkpoint. Sometimes we have to take a step back to go forward in life xD

Given how evil makers were in MM1, I was totally expecting there to be a troll at the end of that last level. Like spikes behind the goal, which is way worse in MM1 because you have to actually touch the tape to beat the level so if you just run through the goal you'd die if you weren't lucky with where the tape was.
