I started out with the 2400g on my first PC build back in 2019, used it without a GPU for a month as a stopgap, then got an RX 570 8GB card, this was just before the pandemic. I've already upgraded to a R5 3600 so I'm probably going to either sell the 2400G or build an HTPC around it to replace the PS4 as my streaming box.

11:30 Brett to answer your question, the primary likely reason(s) why the are still pushing the 3400G is the fact(s) that the 3400G is still made on Zen+ using Global Foundries' 12nm node and likely because AMD still has some commitments with Global Foundries through 2024, or the alternative reason is maybe Global Foundries is less congested than TSMC.

To stop ppl making console replacements. Sony, MS and Steam are all using RDNA 2 APUs, it would be odd if AMD said 'here's console performance for much less. Go make PS5s and XBOXs obsolete' They don't want to cannibalise their console or GPU markets. Idk. Just guessing.

This vid got me looking at 5300G offerings on eBay Aus, found a few selling 5600G's for $429 AUD & 5700G's for $629 AUD (they all ran out of 5300G's). That got me to check my usual Aussie PC part retailers like PCCaseGear down in Melbourne - they're selling 5600G's for $399 AUD & 5700G's for $549 AUD. Checking benches of the 5600G & 5700G against my aging 5820K, and both are leaving my old Haswell-E 6-core in the dust with 14-18% higher effective speeds, 31-40% higher average scores and 15-23% higher overclocked scores on UserBenchmark (I know other places might have different numbers, but even still my old "Extreme" chip is left in the dust either way).

If u find a 5600x tho for a good deal get that
@ElNeroDiablo3 жыл бұрын
@@weewa.1well, it's like $30 AUD more to get a 5600X over the 5600G ($429 AUD Vs. $399 AUD), and $100 AUD more to get a 5800X over 5700G ($649 AUD Vs $549 AUD). $30 AUD more for a 5% bump in speed and scores between the Ryzen 5's, $100 AUD more for a 4% bump in speed and scores between the Ryzen 7's. Personally, I don't think it's worth spending $30-100 AUD more to pick a CPU without a GPU over a CPU with a GPU, when the GPU can be used to set up the system before dropping in a strong videocard (especially if going to be doing a basic Linux Host and then GPU Passthrough to a Windows VM as I'm planning on doing for next system). And it's currently not worth dropping an extra $260 AUD for a 5900X ($809 AUD) over the 5700G, just for a 6% boost in speed and scores from an extra 4-cores/8-threads. And dropping an addition $610 AUD for a 5950X ($1159 AUD) over the 5700G for the same 6% boost in speed and scores? Unless I can find a board that can handle a pair of GPU's without them choking the other of air or needing waterblocks to bring the cards back down to the 2-slot spacing of the card's brackets, just so can run a moderate GPU under Linux as bare metal and a stronk GPU with Passthrough to a Windows VM... yeah, no. Not worth the hassle and extra costs of the extra 4-8 cores if I can't use them in a more budget-friendly build on low limited income.

I gotta tell you, I still have a A10-6800K black edition with 16gb of DDR3-3200 and except for the obsolete 8600 series graphics it rocks pretty well with a RX560. I retired it in 2015 but just put it in a system for a friend with the A10-6800K, 16gb ddr3-3200, RX 560, 512gb Intel SATA drive and it plays all his games just fine, replacing his 10 year old I5-2400, 8gb, gtx530, 5400rpm sata drive. Something really important about the Ryzen 2xxxG is that being a Ryzen 1000 series, is *not* compatible with Windows 11 (at least right now), so not recommended to buy for a new machine, unless you're a Windows 10 die hard and don't want to upgrade, or if you're a Linux user.

I am pretty sure they can run a dGPU. It is just that the Zen & Zen+ APUs won't utilize more than 8 express lanes of PCIe x16 slot. Which might be limiting the process power of a GPU. According to Wikipedia, both the Zen 2/3 APUs utilize all the express lanes of PCIe x16 slot. It has to be mentioned that these numbers are related to PCIe 3.0.

Regarding why AMD do not sell 5300G to the consumer. I think they do not have enough supply to sell to the consumer. As those chips are dies that could not be used as 5700G or 5600G. But that said the 5300G has it niche. No doubt about that. It is not bad chip in its segment
@andrewalexander95083 жыл бұрын
It's pretty basic each one of these dies sells for more as a laptop die. Last thing they want to do is offer this to the market and build a demand that they have supply with chips that could sell for more as a laptop chip.
@samicodie3 жыл бұрын
Maybe amd ryzen community wants to sell them directly because they know that if they sell the chips to cosumers, they'll sell these things higher than it cost's, maybe there's a relation ship between them and a selling market that is more official, it can be because of people as well!

From the last leaked AMD roadmap looks like Rembrandt in 2022H1 is the fist non-Steam Deck to get RDNA2 CUs. Rembrandt seems to be targeted to laptop H-model, ultra book U-model TDP envelopes. AMD is going to have to compete with Alder Lake in 2022 which could have good Arc CUs onboard. By end of 2022H2 when both Zen 4 and RDNA 3 are due likely at 5nm and Raptor Lake from Intel soon after. Basically AMD APU options likely from 2022H2 forever forward, possible majorly on AM5.

IMO it's supply of the partially defective silicon. There simply isn't enough supply to meet the full market demand so just like Nvidia selling every capable 3090 as a 3090 without the normal cut down of working dies simply to move volume, AMD isn't cutting down working dies to move volume of CPUs.
