I ran across what I thought was a much simpler solution on a reddit forum. My 7800X3D was running hotter than I was comfortable with. Went into Control Panel>power options>change plan settings>change advanced power settings>processor power management>change maximum processor state from 100% to 99%. Made a 20 degree difference for me.

The use of BIOS settings is probably better for this - my Ryzen 5 7600 dropped from 90ish ( slightly above ) to 65 by simply setting PBO to max 80 - and changing the curve optimizer ( that one is a bit tricky ) - but 25-30 degree lower with no noticable impact on performance. Keep in mind that AMD states that the CPU can run 95 with no issues - but most people i know like it to be lower.

@@OneCoupleVibes i did some testing and BPO doesn't affect temp, only your cpu ratio does. in my case i ended up with the best results at cpu ratio 44 and Curve optimizer at 30 with bpo limits disabled instead of auto i was pretty much always at 90° and now i'm sitting at a comfortable 75° in big games after a good amount of time Idk what will be your ideal cpu ratio tbh but i just did some tests and voila, in my case 4500Mhz was in red (in the bios) so i just decided to go with the next highest, stress tested it and worked wonders without crash where as the game mode was perfect in terms of sens but horrible in terms of stability hope it helps

Thanks so much, just upgraded from ryzen 5 3400g to ryzen 7 5800x and i'm still using the stock cooler from my ryzen 5, I was watching the temps yesterday and I was kinda worried at how easy it reached 85-90 degrees, after doing this I've reached a stable 4300mhz at 1.075 volts and it reaches a max of 76 degrees under the stress test, now I'm way less worried about frying the cpu to death xD. I agree use offset oc. I had the same issue, offset 0.20000 volt on asus mobo cpu volt and on idle i get 40c and on full load 80 but with stress test 100% load it boost to 4600mhz on all cores. During gaming like cyberpunk on 1080p resolution i get 65-75% usage with 4800mhz on all 8 cores 90% of time without issues. Dont sit on 4300 its under utilization of your 5800x, it can go upto 4700 mhz easy while gamin on all cores with 75c temp and 4600 mhz on full 100% stress test. And ambient temperatures here are 32c

I have a Ryzen 5 5500 and i dropped the Mhz from 4200 to 4000 and the volts from 1.3V to 1.1V. I'm sure i can drop it even more but i'm happy with the big temperature drop and the marginal loss of performance, if any.

@@retr0222 the safe and expected temperature of the ryzen 5 series is 90-95C. However with a decent cooler you will never hit that temperature. I have a 5600 base clock of 3,5ghz overclocked to 4.8ghz and I never hit 80c and I have a $50 dollar cooler on my cpu. Do you even have a cooler on your CPU?

This trick worked very well, the issue is that… when you reboot your pc, you have to apply the changes again…. Every time. (It worked for me, I forgot to set the settings to persist the changes. all is working wonders and with a better clock speed and lower temperature, thanks for the video 👏)

Have a look at some air cooler/AIO comparison video's from tech creators like JayzTwoCents and Linus Tech Tips, and their testing shows there isn't much difference between the two. A decent air cooler can be just as efficient as an AIO. While I don't regret upgrading my Noctua air cooler to a Corsair AIO, I am aware how many points of failure they have compared to an air cooler.

Im not sure why but on MSI Afterburner and HWInfo, when I set a manual clock in RyzMstr, those prgms only show the top most value 100% of the time, whereas RyzMstr shows the fluctuations. Ive been searching how to get my PC (5900X/3080Ti) to idle at lower clocks & V. Using this method, I found a happy point at 4.2Ghz at 1.15v, which dropped idle and loaded thermals by 15C at least!! I was using RyzMstr for a long time to manually lower clock/V for long idling intervals, and it worked well and I had drastically lower idling temps, but it got tedious constantly changing that back n forth and I forget occasionally, so its nice to set it and forget it now! ty bro, just went from 80-85 celsius while heavy gaming to 60-65 some games that dont require alot from gpu im getting like 50 lows.. my ryzen 5900x was consuming alot and overheating into danger areas but after undervolting now it temps make mores sense on idle and while doing heavy work, i was able to do 4200mhzh with 1.15v, tried 1.1v but it crashed but still, from 1.38v to 1.15v... They should really work on those default cpu voltage settings, luckly my cpu survived 14 days untill i did this 😅😅

The newer AMD ryzen cpus are desisgned to run hot at 90-95 before thermal throttling. However with any kind of decent cooler you will never hit that high.

that 5900x has more in it bud. they come stupid high at like 1.475v from the factory, its way to much unless your liquid cooling even then no need. i recently redid my bios settings because i was changing my cooler out and it yanked the cpu out the socket, so after i placed it back in i had to go through new cpu setup, and after a new better cooler i was getting higher temps, forgot i had to reset my oc and voltage settings. i can run 4.65 all core stable on 1.25v and under cinebench only 80c on air cooling. gaming never breaks over 60 running cyyberpunk or mw2.

5800x here. I tried a lot of other methods of underclocking which keep resulting in crashes and problems. This by far is the safest way to test the best clock speed and cpu voltage. It make sense why I keep having issue as my 5800x can only do 4.3mhz/1.2v. (Reduce 90 degree to 78 degree) Any higher clock/lower voltage result in crash. Will put these values in bios and never touching anything related to this anymore.

The weird part is that you don't reach your maximum frequency. It should be the case. I think your cooling/airflow is wrong.

I think ryzen apus are shipped overvolted and by default up to 30 Celsius over normal. My intel 6500 starts with 30 to 33 degrees and reaches 55 to 60 under load. But my ryzen 5700u starts with 47 to 55 and reaches 80 to 90 which is just obscure. That think needs to be undervolted like crazy almost take a gigahertz away. And the fan scream like crazy when that thing updates something in the background while cpu is less than 30 percent.

I just disabled CBP (Core Performance Boost) in my BIOS and after that my CPU went from 95c-celsius to 50c-celsius while gaming on max settings. AMD Ryzen 7700x on a ASUS PRIME B650-Plus. And my GPU AMD Radeon RX 6950 XT goes not over 59c-celsius. Maybe this can help someone too!

Are those settings you make on Ryzen Master permanent, until changed? My understanding is each time you start the computer you have to load Ryzen Master and select the correct profile to return to those settings.

They are not permanent. If you want a permanent solution, you can plug in your stable numbers in the bios but that's more dangerous if something goes wrong so I just start Ryzen Master every time I boot.

its weird how Ryzen CPUs work... How am I able to get around 4.7 GHz on R7 5800X while doing a benchmark in Cinebench but when Im playing a game, Im getting 4GHz - 4.4GHz... Also its pretty easy to fix your temperature... Just buy Arctic Liquid Freezer... Its one of the cheapest yet one of the best AIO coolers. Im using Arctic Liquid Freezer II 360 and getting 80 degrees at 4.7 GHz while doing that benchmark, 55 degrees while playing games, 30 degrees when doing nothing

That is because your GPU generates heat too, which is used by your CPU Cooler while being in the same case.

@@4sens450 weird enough after upgrading my GPU from Sapphire Nitro+ RX 5700XT to XFX Merc 310 7900XTX I'm able to run it at 4.7-4.85 GHz while playing but also my R7 5800X reaches 74°C in the process but that's most likely due to 30°C+ room temperature. I will upgrade to Arctic Liquid Freezer II 420 in a week though as my AIO is already over 5yo and don't want to wait for it to die. I think they also upgraded their mounting for AM4 so this should also help with the temperature

Ive never once had the Ryzen 5 3600 in my build get even over 65 Celsius. Even on Ultra settings. I play COD mw3-Hogwarts Legacy-and Diablo 4. Its the Vram in my 3070 ti thats taking most of the load. Vram reads at 96%.. with GPU usage showing 78%...ryzen master settings are 1.35 peak core voltage-and 1433 memory clock. With 32g of Trident Z rgb ddr4 3600. Monitor is just a Samsung 4k ultra HD 60inch
