S 560 Magic Body Control

It sounds like magic, it's called magic and it feels like magic: a suspension that can foresee unevenness in the road and prepare accordingly.
A stereo camera is used to scan the road ahead so that the damping at each wheel can be optimally adapted for upcoming uneven stretches.
This is made possible through the combination of the active suspension with continually adjustable dampers and the innovative ROAD SURFACE SCAN. With the aid of a stereo camera positioned behind the windscreen, the topography of the road ahead is registered precisely. From the images and data gleaned about the condition of the road surface, the system calculates in a split second the correct strategy for adjusting in advance the damping of each wheel so as to deal with the unevenness ahead in the best possible way.
Furthermore, the active suspension effectively compensates any roll and pitching movements when pulling away, in curves and when braking. The continually adjustable dampers provide both comfortable basic damping as well as allowing a tighter setting, dependent on speed. All of this results in a combination of excellent comfort and impressive driving dynamics.
