It is a sad news. I love Khumbu. I like Thamey village. I have been there several times. I am thinking about Dr. Kami Sherpa's house in that village. I've stayed there a few times during trekking trips in the region. I cannot believe how the river changed its course. A huge might have blocked the regular river course, perhaps. The flash flood did not follow the original riverbed. Some people have given their opinions without knowing the local geographical structure. Please don't say what you guess in your head. Most probably, it is a GLOF. It is a very GLOF-prone area. There are several glacial lakes higher above the village.
