S.M. Lockridge - I Have A Story To Tell (Sermon Jam)

Shadrach Meshach Lockridge, was born March 7, 1913 in Robertson County, Texas. He was the oldest child of eight born to Reverend LeRoy R. Lockridge and Demover Gregory Lockridge. His father was a Baptist minister who held several pastorates in Texas.
He was a graduate of Bishop College, a predominately black college in Marshall, Texas Prior to World War II, S.M. felt called to preach the gospel message. He had held several jobs including childhood jobs such as a cleaner in a barber shop and a bell hop at a local hotel. S.M. also taught high school for two years. In 1942, S.M. accepted his first pastorate at Fourth Ward Baptist Church in Ennis, Texas. He is well known for his tenure at Calvary Baptist Church in San Diego, California where he served from 1952 until his retirement in 1993. Through his leadership Calvary became a well-known African American church serving the San Diego and beyond. In his personal life, S.M. was married to Virgil Mae Thomas in 1941 and no children were born to this union. Reverend Lockridge served several regional, state, and national positions with the Baptist church.
He was the first president of the National Missionary Baptist Convention of America when it was reestablished in 1988. He held this office until his retirement in 1993. He was known for his preaching across the United States which reached people by the hundreds of thousands. He was a sought after speaker in revivals, at universities and evangelistic crusades. Many of his sermons are still referenced today such as the final six minutes of his famous “That is my King” sermon or his eloquent delivery of “Its Friday but Mondays comin.” His sermon on “That is my King appears in the Left Behind movie series.An excerpt from his obituary in the Los Angeles Times April 8, 2000 reads, “The Rev. S.M. Lockridge, 87, a major religious and social force in San Diego for decades. As pastor of Calvary Baptist Church and president of the California Missionary Baptist State Convention, he was known for his evangelical conferences, powerful preaching and civil rights activism. "He had a great sense of humor, but was always very serious when preaching the word of God," said Councilman George Stevens, a Baptist minister. "He was a giant among preachers." Lockridge was on the faculty of the Billy Graham School of Evangelism and the Greater Los Angeles Sunday School Convention. His publications included "Rekindling the Holy Fires" and "The Lordship of Christ." The son of a preacher, he was born Shadrach Meshach Lockridge in Texas and graduated from Bishop College in Marshall, Texas. He began his ministry in Dallas in 1940 and in 1952 accepted the San Diego pastorate. Lockridge became an advisor to politicians such as San Diego Mayors Pete Wilson and Maureen O'Connor, Rep. Jim Bates and state Sens. Waddie Deddeh and Jim Mills.
In addition to his advisory role, Dr. Lockridge was active in the civil rights movement, and under his leadership Calvary Baptist hosted several of its leaders, including Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the Rev. Jesse Jackson. Shadrack Meshach Lockridge died April 4, 2000 and was laid to rest in Mount Hope Cemetery in San Diego, California. His wife Virgil would follow him in death within six month of Dr. Lockridge’s passing.

I've found our most wonderful lord ....once at 13 and again at 48 , he is the answer and light and the love that all of humanity is searching for and so many and so few have found ! I'm truly blessed that I have found and felt and love our lord and savior ! God bless all who know him and all those that will find him someday ! Life on his earth will get better with our lord in your heart . Accept the glory of God as he has accepted , and paid for our sins on the cross . May God bless you all near and far . He will not lead you astray , no one has ever said that they regret accepting the love of God.

This is the best preaching I've heard in my 63 years of life. Oh well need more preaching like this today. Dr. Lockridge was deep , articulate, and anointed by God ! My the Lord continue to bless his ministry. I also believe he would approve of the effects being added by mixxkid. God bless you !
