I will try your recipe but I will boil the dried chili and soak until soft -- Best !! I will add in the belachan into the boiling oil just 1 min before I off the fire after frying all the ingredients. Since you have a good non stick pan, no need to stir and stir all the time as it will not burn or stick onto the pan as I made with someone's recipe before. I stir every now and then only. I will cut the duan pandan into 2 as easier to remove it later. I have finished my Sambal sauce, will make your recipe soon. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for sharing your receipe. I would like to adopt it into a vegetarian version by omitting shallots, onion and garlic. (1) Would it change the overall taste? (2) Should i replace with anything else? Thanks in advance for your advice. Perhaps you have a vegetarian version by any chance?
