Hi Sharra, the P/E ratio of banks you mentioned was the median, if we check individual Pe of icici and HDFC, we can see it went up to 21-22 range previously.once Fii is back to India, I strongly feel it will go to 20-22 Pe for individual banks.

Hi, 20-22. is when hdfc bank had the NIM of 4.5%, cerdit to deposit ratio of under 80%. and also, they used to give massive dividend in HDFC. all changed now... no way with the amount of housing loan, the present HDFC bank cannot retutun to above 4.5% NIM... so, i think even 17 to 18 as expensive.

Couldn't understand where the historical data suggest HDFC bank is in the upper band of PE ratio. Please check with screener , median pe is 23 to 25 .Hence HDFC bank is relatively quite cheap

She meant PE of private banks altogether is upper band of 18 which ICICI and HDFC are closer to. Not the individual bank PE where HDFC is at record low.
