I’m todays video I take my 3 .40S&W handguns out to the range and compare their accuracy at 5 and 8 yards, and the reliability with various types of ammo.
I shot through some Speer gold dot, some Herters jacketed flatpoint, and some Blazer aluminum cased ammo.

It’s sweet. I need more of these old Smith Semi Auto’s. I want a 659 or something similar. I have the 469 and it’s a beaut too

I have 2 of the three guns you ran , always liked the third generation smith's autos. My sister picked up some blazer aluminum, but she didn't want to shoot it , so I traded her brass ammo . The aluminum ran fine in my SD40VE and my glock 23 and was the most clean ammo I have shot, not sure why . Cool slow motion shots

The smiths are so well built- I have a 469 as well, want a stainless 9mm too- 5906 I think?

Did you mean the SW 4046 is double action only? Beautiful guns by the way
@crankygunreviews
@crankygunreviews 5 ай бұрын
I guess I don’t know how to describe it… not really double action only because it does not cock the hammer when you pull the trigger. You have to have the hammer half cocked to make it fire- so it’s a 1 1/2 action? Or maybe 1/2 action?

@@crankygunreviews Interesting. I just looked it up it has a double action trigger pull but no second-strike capability. if it does not fire you have to cycle the slide to fire the gun instead of just pulling the trigger. Your gun reminds me of the SW 5946-which was authorized when I worked some years ago and was very popular with the troops. The 5946 was true double action only and it had the second strike capability. Heavy guns but they are built like tanks. Nice gun you have 👍

@@nebaldeby5369 yeah the 4046 is weird. No safety, no de-cocker, and not a real double action. Long trigger pull but smooth

It’s heavy and shoots well if you can get over the trigger pull of this thing

Probably the 4046 because it’s heavy, but I think I shoot the SD40VE faster, so maybe that one?

From the looks of this i would say your Glock 23 has a lot of recoil due to its light weight i might be buying a sd40ve i have an Sd9ve. Ever tried firing 40 out of a 10mm they say it works and some say it doesnt ive seen somebody shoot 380 out of 9mm but it tumbled out funny
@crankygunreviews

The SD40VE has a lot of recoil too. The Glock has a smaller grip so it’s a little harder to hold than the SD40VE
@gabrieldesta2113
@gabrieldesta2113 3 ай бұрын
@@crankygunreviews a grip sleeve would help with that recoil they sell them on Amazon and wish for 5 bucks that's what I did for my sd9ve a grip sleeve

@@gabrieldesta2113 I hate grip sleeves. SD40VE has a longer grip that’s why I shoot it better

We are probably 2 of the very few people that don't watch sports but watch these types of videos. I always loved playing sports just not waching them. I like 40's I still have 2 of them 1) Glock 23 and 1) Glock 27. I had 4 until a couple years ago. So in this battle I'd pick the G23

The G23 is pretty good, and I hate sports now. Never really cared, but did watch for several years with my brother- he moved and I lost interest

@@crankygunreviews Ive got a 9mm barrel for both the G23 and the G27. Ive been ,eaning to get 357 Sig barrel for both and a 22LR conversion kit. I get it. Some things are tolerable when you're with a friend or relative but hold 0 interest if they arent there

@@crankygunreviews It's an incredible cartridge but I do understand the thought of yet another cartridge in the mix. It seems I am always running low on ammo yet I have thousands of rounds. The problem is I own so many calibers. In pistols alone I have ammo in 22LR, 25ACP, 32 ACP, 32 S&W, 32 S&W Long, 327 Mag, 380 ACP, 38 Special, 9mm, 357 MAg, 44 Special, 44 Mag and 45 ACP. Then its on the rifle calibers.... I bought a barrel for my Dad in 357 SIg for his Glock. I wish I'd bought one for mine too but then again there'sd be even more ammo to keep in stock

@@frankbrowning328 yeah I hear you on all that. I keep saying no more new calibers, then I find something else I want lol. Just with .380, 9mm, 40 S&W, and 45ACP in my semi auto carry selection, I don’t know that I need 357 sig…
