Just bought mine and I love it. I honestly don't mind the grip safety. I've had it on another s&w. I get along with it well for sport/ range shooting. It fits my hand and my wife's hand well. All around for me, it's already my favorite.

Just bought an equalizers about two weeks ago. I got it at the range for the first time and loved it. Before I shot again I wanted a context on how to clean this gun properly. And this video did exactly that. This my first gun purchased and I’m very pleased and proud of it. I love the safety features on it makes me feel more comfortable and confident with this handgun. Definitely can understand how that safety on the handle can be a hassle but I love it

Just purchased my first handgun, the S&W Equalizer. Took a gun safety class and going to start target practice. I want to thank you for the very detailed step by step tear down and cleaning video! I have come across many others, but because the instructors have been doing the tear down and clean for so long that many forget that new owners need to see it s-l-ow-l-y, and with verbal details to help newbies learn. Now I feel much more confident in taking on this task!

I know a lot of people complain about the back strap safety, but having several young kids who climb me constantly and think my hip is for their knees, I don’t feel safe without it. Definitely have to practice to get that muscle memory down, but worth it.
@bradleyduvall516115 күн бұрын
I like the back strap, as I and a 1911 guy also. I have several M&Ps, al have always liked them. I did sell a older Shield Performance center as i did not like the ported barrel due to the noise level if i needed to shoot it without hearing protection, reminded me of the noise level my Colt Diamondback puts out with the 2½ inch barrel. The gun shot great but never have liked ported barrels on anything, so I fold it at a gun show in Tulsa a month ago, came out good, bought it off Facebook group, for $300 with holster and 500 rounds of Browning 9mm, sold the pistol for $400 and kept everything else. I bought my dad a EZ style 9mm as he is having issues controlling and loading as his hands are getting weak being 83 now. Back to the Equalizer, when I first got it it was sometimes not lock the slide back after the last round, and 9 out of 10 empty casings would land on my head! After a few hundred rounds and a couple cleanings that seems to have resolved itself and I plan on keeping it. I bought my 1st M&P in 07 or 08 after I got my CC permit, 07 is when Ks started CC. I bought the 9C gen 1. I later bought the 2.0 when it came out, but like you with not liking the grip safety, the 2.0 I could feel the corners where the mag meets the grip and ended up rounding them a touch so I couldn't notice it.

Thank you so much for breaking this weapon down! I juse brought one of these and I needed to know the field striping and oilingg aspects of this weapon. I did not consider the bast strape safety when I brought it and I am concerned if I grip the gun right when I need it most. But I will get out of the range and learn it via muscle memory. Again, thank you for breaking this down for us.

I just purchased this. After shooting for 45 years It’s nearly impossible for me to lock the slides back anymore on the ones I’ve had for quite a while. I can lock the slide on this real easy, but I’m having trouble getting the slide off and on for cleaning without touching that grip safety. Still haven’t shot it yet. Hoping it will be easier once I put a couple hundred rounds through it. Thanks for the awesome video!

Great video. Very informative. I also have a Equalizer and do pretty much the same as you with the cleaning and oiling. I also agree with you that I don't like the back strap safety either. I keep searching KZbin to see if someone has posted a video on how to completely strip the slide and the frame just to see if there is any way to remove or disengage the back strap safety. So far, no luck with that.
@jeffofalltrades848911 ай бұрын
Unfortunately I doubt you'll find that ... since it's a safety thing, KZbin would take that down in SECONDS...it's the world we live in now...

Most all Smith and Wesson handguns I know you have to use a tool, There’s a little piece of metal on the inside once you pull the magazine back, push that lever down and forward, and you do not have to pull the trigger to remove the slide

Wouldn’t the hoops 9 enough for everything? Why do you need the other oil for?
@jeffofalltrades848911 ай бұрын
The oil is just a thicker application. If you shoot every day, or the gun doesn't sit around, the spray is fine. I like to use the oil for better protection. When it comes to cleaning your guns, it mainly is personal preference just keep them wet!
