Great video Tim, what always got me is that the Giant Sequoia tree has the smallest seed cone. Can only be opened by fire so the seed can make another tree. It’s a amazing tree. So we need fire to have a plentiful forest. Have fun👍🏼

Forty Times Around, Tim, I am sure you are familiar with the likes of Teapot One, Long Way Around/Down, & so on. You are right in their vein but I think you have a more human side (similar to Tea Pot). Your personal journey is compelling & relatable. You are kind & have a gentle approach. I’m not sure what your writing skills are like but it isn’t a reach at all to imagine you teaming up with a co-author & publishing a memoir. You certainly have a following on KZbin for a reason, you are great. What I have witnessed is that you are getting better & better. Writing may not interest you but I can easily imagine you exploring this aspect & being successful.

Hey Tim, your in my back yard, I live at the bottom of those mountains at the base of Lake kaweah, this year I bought a 2019 Triumph Tiger 1200 XCA, I plan to head up to the sequoias this year, going through Three Rivers just before the park entrance is a restaurant called the Gateway, its nice to eat on their patio over looking the river. Anyway, have fun, can't wait to head up there.👍

Great to know! You probably know this place then: goo.gl/maps/mEg3Ri9sNZm9SvC7A Is it passable by bike???

Mark Kulyas , how are you liking the Tiger; I am considering it as well..
@markkulyas2418
@markkulyas2418 5 жыл бұрын
@@jblue1299 To put things into perspective I have been ridding dirt bikes all my life and this year is my first experience on street bikes, just got my M1 so I am probably not the best person to get professional advice from. So having nothing to compare the Tiger 1200 to I can just give my opinion on the bike but not a comparison. I personally love the looks of this bike, mine is Matt Marine, the fit and finish are really nice, my first trip was to Marina Calif. all street and hwy, I was very comfortable, and I liked how the bike handled, I love all the features the XCA model has, electric wind screen, heated grips, heated seats, cruise control, quick shifter, it just adds to the pleasure of the ride. In the summer time anything above 80F deg. You will feel heat around your crotch area, that is probably a downside to this bike but I have never ridden a BMW GS as a comparison, maybe Tim could chime in on the heat on his GS, if there is any. I put SW-motech upper crash bars on and they don't distract from the looks at all. I only have 900 miles on my bike so far, so I really can't give an honest long-term review, but so far I'm enjoying the bike, I think a rider adapts to any bike he buys and the two just become one. I'm 5'9" tall my jeans are 32"x30" and I'm on the balls of my feet, so if your any shorter you better buy the low version of this bike, the bike carries its weight High, but once your moving she rides very nice. The looks of the tiger was one of the reasons I went with a Triumph but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. You might want to test ride some bikes first but I found out that to be darn near impossible where I live. Good luck with your choice, Have fun.

@Peter Baumgart My boyfriend and I rode the North Fork Road this past July. I rode my Honda CRF 250. The road is paved for quite a few miles, then you will hit dirt, gravel, rocks, pot holes. I am not a good dirt rider, so after awhile it was getting a bit much for me with the ruts and rocks so we stopped at the river, which you can’t miss. If you continue on to the end of the North Fork Road there is a campground. My boyfriend rode another mile up and came to it. It is slightly uphill with big potholes and very rocky. And, to answer your question, yes it is passable by bike.

A recent article about the Paradise fire in California said the area was named because of the cool, high quality air compared to Chico nearby and lower. The high quality air is worth it to visit a forested area. My local short rides are along streams and lots of trees, because the air is better and has more oxygen. Also because there are more and tighter corners and elevation changes.

Thank you for this fine video Tim. Living near by, whenever we have visitors that have never been to Sequoia, we always do a day trip. We try and explain the size of the trees but they cannot comprehend until they see them. Their usual response is “I’ve seen big trees before” or something similar. Then they lay their eyes on them and are just blown away. They do need to be seen to be believed. Pictures never really do it justice, just like the Grand Canyon.
