Everyone should visit Big Bend at least once in their lives. It's hard to believe that you're in the US let alone Texas when you're there. Truly one of the best kept secret parks for most.

Best balance of music and video yet. Very enjoyable. Camped near Terlingua many years ago. There was a true trading post there that traded with Mexicans that brought cactus to trade. It’s used in the cosmetics industry. You could buy a beer for the goat outside who would upend the bottle with his teeth and guzzle a cold one. Funny but he was probably an alcoholic. Two thumbs up!

In 1972 I went to Big Bend, fell in love with geology, changed my major and not long ago retired after a great career in geology. Hope to take a group of students from my alma mater to Big Bend next year during their Spring Break hoping that the place may light the fire of geology interest in them that it did me. Hope you took some time to check out the rudistids along the Santa Elena Canyon trail.... good stuff.

Near the same time as my first visit when I hitch hiked in. Still my favorite park.

Boy, does this bring back memories. Got flooded into Santa Elena on a hike 20+ years ago with my young family. Almost had to spend the night on the other side of Terlingua Creek from the parking lot. Once we got across, thanks to a bunch of Aggie football players that were there for a geology class, we had to cross several wash outs to get back to camp. Pretty miserable experience. Our camp was flooded and one of our tents was ruined so we slept in the back of the van the rest of the week. Despite all that misery, the desert in Big Bend is a beautiful place after the rains. Big Bend is still a place I'd like to get back to some day.

How can you listen to music when riding through a gorgeous place like that?! Granted you don't hear much above wind and engine noise but the chance of hearing a bird or just hearing the grass rustle is worth it.

Me and my friend Russell went to Big Bend November 14th-19th. Trailered to Alpine. Rode up to Fort Davis and then on to MxDonald Observatory the first day. 2nd day was awesome. Rode from Alpine to Presidio then hwy 170 from Presodio to Terlingua. That road was amazing, dry washes, roller coaster hills, sharp curves with magnificent views along the Rio Grande. Made a quick run up to Alpine from Terlingua as it was cold and we were running out of daylight. 3rd day we rode to Marathon and down to the Persimmon Ridge entrance to.the park. Chisos canyon was really cool. We continued onto Terlingua and then looped back up to Alpine. Can't wait to go back. You could stay there 2 weeks and not ride everything. Thanks for the video, you inspired me to get off my duff and get a bucket list ride completed. Happy New Year and safe travels, sir.

I spent two nights at the Stillwater Campground next to Shadow Mountain Lake which is near Grand Lake, Colorado (1972). We had a thunder and lightening storm like I had never experience before nor since. The sounds reverberating off the mountain walls, the wind pressing my tent down to my nose as I huddled in my sleeping bag, and the flashes of light were not only frightening but humbling. Then it suddenly stopped. Just like that. I recall a sense of floating relief and I slept like I had awaken in heaven with no worries, all was well. Ride on. My BMW K1300GT arrives tomorrow at noon. The old ranger will ride once more. Thank you so much.

I would watch. 😁 Those "extra days" just happen I took a trip in 2003, up into the Sierras and stopped in Yuba City for the night ended up staying four days. But I used to live in Roseville which is south of Yuba City so it was like being home again I moved in 1996 from Roseville to Los Angeles. and I moved out a few years later after that, now I'm back in LA again , hopefully I'll be moving again in Sept-Oct time frame. I don't mind Los Angeles but my heart and soul prefer mountains or desert. ride safe my friend..

Another great video Tim. The storm was awesome. Something most folks will never experience like you did. Make you long for a three inch thick plexiglass bubble, tied down and surrounded by lightning rods. I never had that experience in my travels there, but my most memorable moments were the night sky. Never saw anything like it. I've BEEN places that probably had the same grandeur, but clouds ruined it. Guadalupe National Park won't disappoint. Stay safe friend.
