The Shark Spotters is truly innovative life saving operation that has benefited humans and sharks for many years now. South Africa should be supremely proud of the work they do it that area.

Hi guys another gem loved the seals the colours on the boat brilliant fish and chips at sea always a fantastic treat spotted a old land-rover bakie. The cape guy trying to charge you 35 rand so funny had a cape guy worked for me always happy and laughing fish hoek more my style nice and relaxed vibe can't get enough of the thatched roofs lovely garden of remembrance good to see men remembered 1982 and 85 who stopped the march of communism in the Bush war drive up the mountain and the views amazing millionaire views and I bet that's what the houses cost mountains and the sea who could ask for more cheerio till the next one

The seals were so chilled, I couldn't believe how relaxed they were with so many folks about! It's the colours at the harbour that get us every time, so vibrant and bright! ⛵ I just had to include the gentleman who said if I buy a fish for R35, I can take as many pics as I want, too funny! 🐟 You can bet your bottom pound that those houses on the hill there cost a few million each, if not for anything else, but the setting and the view. 🤩🌊 Glad you also liked the quieter vibes here in Fish Hoek, the other places were really crazy busy that day. Let's see where we'll take you to next! 😁🚗

There is always a traffic snarl up in Kalk Bay, no matter what the season. But one doesnt mind, bcause there s so much that is beautiful around to look at. Parking is a problem. We always ended up parking down at the harbour and walking into town. There are amazing clothes shops there with the kind of creative clothing I love and cant find anywhere else. Cape to Cuba has amazing food, we have been there for special occasions. And you cant beat Kalkies for the best snoek in the universe! The seals lie there on the pier and you can walk right by them, they are not bothered!Had many a lovely walk along Fishoek beach. One has to be careful of bluebottles, though. We spent many happy hours out here, walking around, eating, drinking. Thanks once again for happy memories.

Yup, we were expecting the traffic, so it wasn't such a big issue. I would've liked to walk around the actual village too, but parking was clearly nowhere to be found! 😁🚗 We had lunch at Cape to Cuba two years ago and Sonia ordered the weirdest items on their menu just for laughs. I went safer, but can only remember the Baba ghanoush now for some reason. Such a cool vibe that place has and a fantastic setting too! 🥳 I loved the seals at the harbour and how they were just loafing around with seemingly not a care in the world! 😍 It was my first time on Fish Hoek Beach and it's an awesome place for families to enjoy themselves in a much quieter environment than some of the other beaches. 🏖️🌊 We appreciate you visiting these places which are obviously so dear to your heart with us again! It's always great hearing how each one them has some happy association attached. I bet you daydream often about those times! 😊

We loved the seals too, they looked so peaceful, just as it should be. 😍 Those houses indeed have fantastic views! Unobstructed is not even the word! We were pleasantly surprised by these two places that day. The traffic was hectic, but it was worth it! Glad you enjoyed it too! 🚗🌊

Hi you two! Thank you for this scenic trip. I'm so glad you found parking space at the harbour, obviously owned by seals! The vibe of the fishing business is really tangible there. The scenes are all my favourites - blue skies, bright white clouds, blue seas with beautiful mountains all around. I had to look at the video twice to take it all in. The traffic just added to the reality of it all. Thanks again. Don't forget to pick me up next time. Keep safe!

So almost every wish of yours was granted! We certainly had incredible weather that day! ☀️🌊 The traffic was rough, but we set out that week wanting to feel like tourists in our own backyard and the hundreds of cars and people around helped achieve that. We have plenty of time the rest of this year to hit the backroads where we'll once again be the only car for miles and miles! Just writing this gets me all hyped up for our next trip! 🤩🚗 Your seat is booked for the next outing in two days, I have a feeling you may enjoy that one just as much! 😎

Another incredible episode, AP Jones in Fishhoek is similar to your Friedman and Cohen store in the Strand. You should have gone to see Clovelly, thats a treat. There were 2 horrific shark attacks at Fishhoek hence the nets. A friend stayed in one of those houses on the Fishhoek mountainside, they had a proper 1 person lift inside their home. I was a bit "sirprized" to hear Sonia commenting re the sharkspotters on Boyes Drive as there are also sharkspotters on Clarence Drive near Koegelbay 😳. Where in the world will you go where you will hear that accent of the guy selling the fish with his clever line (no pun intended 😉) about the number of photos you could take of it if you purchased the fish. Kalkys is a great spot, my favorite is Lucky Fish in Muizenberg.
@DustBugsTravel

I'm glad you enjoyed the drive, it was a spectacularly beautiful day and it was just great to be out there. Even the hectic traffic couldn't dampen our spirits! 😁 I just loved the fisherman's accent and you should've seen the animation on his face. Quintessential Cape Town! 🤩 Your comment highlights our ignorance in several areas and that's the reason why we're attending the Travel University, albeit a little later in life than most students would attend a university! We still have so much to learn and recall and remember and we're having a ball doing so. 🚗🌍 I vaguely recall sharkspotters in Durban when I lived there for a short time, but we've never noticed them before locally and especially not on Clarence Drive, which is our road! 🙈 We'll try and spot them next time we're headed that way, which may just be in a day or so.🦈 We also don't know the section of the Peninsula from Hout Bay to Muizenberg well at all and that was part of the reason we thought to include these places. Another viewer commented about exploring the cave system at Clovelly as a young boy, but these outings were already done and dusted, so we'll have to give Clovelly a go some other time. Luckily we're not too fussed about what we miss in a place, we're just too happy to have visited at all! Thanks for tagging along! 👍🏻

Fish Hoek mountain was what you looked at as you came in, with Elsies Peak and one of the paths up there from the Remembrance Garden. Not sure what day of week you went, but summer holidays and Sundays are the worst for traffic on the Main Road. Your pic from our outrow (spelling??) looked like a familiar view where I lived for a while. Can't be 100% sure though. Kalk Bay is nice to look around at the curio shops and just off the Main Road, there are a few coffee shops. But the roads are narrow. Fish Hoek is my favourite beach by far. Get there so little these days.
@DustBugsTravel

We weren't there over a weekend, but it was the tail-end of the festive season and we were expecting traffic to be wild! That added to the whole touristy vibe for us! 🥳 The views from up there were incredible, especially of the harbour! Fish Hoek has a lovely beach and it was so quiet compared to some of the others we saw earlier in the week. We hope to get to this stretch of coastline more often in the future, it's still largely an unknown to us. 🤩🌊 Thanks for the clarification on Fish Hoek Mountain. 👍🏻

I'm not a birder, but I thought it might be a Cape Cormorant. Our very old 'Sasol Birds of Southern Africa' says we must look for the yellow gular patch under the base of the bill and the one in our video has that. The Flesh-footed Shearwater looks a little different to me, but I'm really not sure! 🤷🏼‍♂️🐦

@DustBugsTravel Good filming but as you are the person filming while driving if that is the case here , is it not distracting while trying to focus on the road. Just a bit of a concern. In this video I noticed that a metro police vehicle passed you without noticing or stopping you. If that is the case here again, traffic laws are not very good and enforced in South Africa.If you were filming in either New Zealand or Australia the same you doing in South Africa and you are caught or stopped by the either police respectively , your drivers license will be immediately suspended or worse cancelled. You will also be fined massively. I been living and driving in both countries for over fourteen years. So just again a bit of a concern.
