Our visit to Skukuza Rest Camp in the Kruger National Park was truly wonderful. Exploring in and around the camp, we were amazed by the unique golf course with hippos in the water hazards, adding an exciting twist to the game. The beautifully maintained nursery showcasing indigenous plants, bonsai's included, was a sight to behold, and our stop at the Lake Panic Hide offered stunning scenery and an exciting sighting of a pied kingfisher swooping in to catch a fish. During our drive, we encountered incredible wildlife, making the experience even more memorable. The evening meal at Kruger Station was simply outstanding, and as train and station enthusiasts, we couldn't have been happier. Overall, our time at Skukuza was brilliant, filled with nature's wonders and delightful moments. #DustBugs #adventuretravel #southafrica #southafricavlog #travelongravel #krugernationalpark #skukuza

Wow, that dinner was such a lovely surprise, and in a train, well done Sonia for organizing that. I am so glad you popped in at Lake Panic. I always loved sitting there. Skukuza always has lots of game. So, no disappointments.

Hi you two! Wow! The capital city of the Kruger Park! Thank you for this astonishing trip. Skukuza is not my first choice for a holiday, but it is not possible to mention the "wildtuin" without including Skukuza. An abundance of wildlife, amazing trees, to which you added many interesting and historical places. Thank you! I share your excitement on finding that old loco. It was quite something! Thank you again also for not letting the birdlife go by unnoticed. I'm ready to jump on board for the next trip. Keep safe!

Hi there, just want to say we've only been watching you for a short time, but enjoying it so much. We immigrated to UK in 2016 from Port Elizabeth and have always missed South Africa. SA will always be our home. After watching your travels we've realised how much we took for granted and how little we travelled in our own mother country. We are praying hard to return permanently back to South Africa and we will definitely travel more, when we are back home. Thanks so much you guys. ...you make us want to be there already😢😢😢😢😢

When we go to KNP we normally plan our stay to travel from one place to the next every day, taking dirt roads and seeing more rare animals than with the tarred roads, and spending all possible hours in the park. Arriving just in time, before the gates close. Cool bag packed with lunch, snacks, and drinks. Clothes planned to last for the day and back to the park for the next 12 hours... We wait for the gates to open to our next camp, but simply love to visit the not-so-popular camps, Skukuza is just too commercialized for our taste. I miss the bushveld, being in Western Cape for the last 3 years

What incredible viewings in this posting! Absolutely breathtaking 🤗. I am so pleased to see that Skukuza is so impeccably maintained despite it's immense size. It appears to have truly developed into a self-contained "city" in the KNP. Too busy a camp for my liking but nevertheless impressive and a must-see (especially for first-time visitors to the KNP). Where to next .......... 😏

Ah! Nice glass of chilled Chardonnay and now I can relax and watch what my friends are getting up to. That leopard is such a beautiful animal! But ooh! I bet he wishes he could take off his fur coat in the heat. Love the elephant waving his ears like fans to keep cool. Obsessed with trains? You guys are obsessed with everything that I am obsessed with. Paul Kruger, the old man himself, still keeping an eye on things. Love the wild gholf, thats how gholf should be played. I would have loved a plant from the nursery, but with all of us crammed in your car, there would be no room! 🤣😂

Yup, we actually went through our list of obsessions the other day and it's quite scary how long it's become! Trains and anything train-related, as you very well know, are very close to the top of our list, no matter where we travel. And to have found a stationary train on a train bridge in the Kruger National Park. We were rather overwhelmed by it all, in the best way possible! 😍🚉

There is a story about Harry Wolhuters knife. He apparently went into a store and saw the knife lying on a board where a person could cut cheese to purchase. He liked that knife more than the one he had and exchanged knives. So basically stealing the store knife.

If you look him up on Wikipedia, you'll find some more interesting facts about Albasini. He was the acknowledged king of the Tsonga people - or a large group of them, anyway. As in a proper king, whose grave is a sacred site to the nation, where offerings are made each year. (At the ruins.) Phabeni Gate was built for the 2010 World Cup soccer tourists (to increase access to Kruger). I was once asked by a (private, not Parks Board) gate security guard there to please bring him any "toy-toise" I found on my travels, because they apparently taste delicious. I'm guessing he didn't last very long in the job.

hi guys are always watch your videos am a fan , but i must say am kind of confused following this particular one , the timestamp seems confusing or is it the editing one moment you entering skukuza the other you exiting through phabeni while at that i seeu at skukuza rest camp, mind explaining?
@DustBugsTravel
@DustBugsTravel 10 ай бұрын
It doesn't sound like you watched the entire video from beginning to end, because all the clips are perfectly in sequence as we explored the area around Skukuza. Like we went out at Paul Kruger Gate to look at the monuments and memorials and such and went straight back in, we did the same at Phabeni Gate. So we exited Phabeni to have a look around, drove until we reached the coffee shop and turned right around to see the gate from the outside, stopped at the gate to walk around a little and went into the Park again to explore further. This episode covers approximately 24 hours, so we were in and out of Skukuza multiple times as we went on game drives, came back for snacks or a meal or to sleep and headed back out again. I'm sure this clarifies. Thank you for watching! 🚙😁
