S1 - Ep 54-Tietiesbaai Campsite in Cape Columbine Nature Reserve!

Finding out that Tietiesbaai was a caravan park and campsite in the Cape Columbine Nature Reserve was an awesome surprise and we were determined to make the most of it and got to have a good look. It's as close to the ocean as one can get for a campsite! The Sea Shack was also a real treat to see, the little houses were so cute, but unfortunately one can only go in to see them by appointment only. The rest of the Nature Reserve was wonderful, especially the huge boulders and the stormy sea. It would've been awesome to go in at the lighthouse but due to COVID, it was closed. #DustBugs #adventuretravel #southafrica #tietiesbaai

Yes, I've noticed that. But you both are still as charming as ever. I've always been interested in South Africa. My pilot brother, now retired, had invited me several years back to holiday there with him, wife and daughter. Then I was new to the Netherlands and having residency problems while afraid I wouldn't be let back into the country if I left. I always regret not having taken that trip. Now it's a bit of an expense without that pilot's discount. So, I'm having fun travelling with you vicariously. ❤😊

Yes Tietiesbaai is a very nice camping area and I have camped there a few times in summer with friends. But I need to warn future campers....there have been break-ins to vehicles and caravans at night and some people have lost quite a lot. I do not know if it is still like that but I just have to warn all. please take care.

I've been there a couple of times quite long ago.But I'm sad to see how it been developed.A lots of what is there now was not there.I think they have spoilt it now.😢

I grew up in Tietiesbaai for a bit and it was Pieter Pieterse, who said that the name of the mound that looked like a breast is where the name came from but actually, many, many moon's ago, a Hottentot captain named Titus drowned and that's where the name Tietiesbaai came from

On my first trip to the Western Cape my daugther and son in law took me to Tietiesbaai 10 years ago and it was a stunning experience. And ja i did see some tieties. 🤣Great campsite and beautiful rock formations. How did Tietiesbaai got that particular name? Maybe it is some sort of secluded area. Safe travel.

I actually explained in the video that a lady at the entrance gate explained that it was a mountain which resembled a woman's breast. I pointed to the mountain in the video too, perhaps you missed it or didn't get that far in the video. 😁
