S1 - Ep 55 - Discovering Paternoster and St Helena Bay!

After our visit to Tietiesbaai, we went to Paternoster which is a small village on the West Coast of South Africa. Now this was a real touristy place! The beach at Paternoster was beautiful, such a clean and pristine place. After driving through the village, we headed to St Helena Bay. We found a stunning gravel road which took us all the way to Stompneusbaai, Shelly Point, Britannia Bay and St Helena Bay. There are so many holiday destinations all along the West Coast that we weren't even aware of and it was fun driving along this route. #DustBugs #adventuretravel #southafrica #paternoster #sthelenabay

I live in Langebaan and visit Paternoster very regularly, having fish and chips on the beach where you filmed it, (best in the west). Watching the crayfish boats or more correctly bakkies come in and chatting to the locals is absolute magic. Then I barter with them for crayfish, mussels or whatever they caught and have a drink at the Panty Bar, another piece of heaven on earth!!

I stayed in Pasternoster many years ago over a weekend and I have never forgotten how unique I found it. It's so pretty the way the locals paint their houses and buildings all white, just looks so clean.

Agreed! I also love the white houses, especially in a seaside town such as this. There are some really nice places there. 🤩🌊 The village has a character all its own.

Nope, we don't like either that much. The odd glass of wine and calamari or fish once in a while are as far as it goes with us and seafood. We're both from upcountry remember. We love pap and braaivleis. 🤭 And beer! 🍻

Like I said earlier or rather in one of your more recent episodes I will start at the beginning from episode 1. I have and watch about 5 or more a day. I have found it so satisfying that I now follow or read the replies as well. They are a beautiful community. Except for the one who brought politics into it by trying to inform you about the church and what they stood for way back in time. Let's have none of that people, just enjoy the moment.

Lambert's Bay is a totally different place to Lampiesbaai, which is a part of St Helena Bay if I understand correctly. 🚢🌊

I'm not familiar with these place names, but they appear to be suburbs of Cape Town. We won't be driving through any more Cape Town suburbs to make videos. We did a few towards the end of 2022 / beginning of 2023 as part of a local series back then. We now visit towns and places further away from the Western Cape. 🚙

You are correct, and there is a very simple reason for that. I film out of the vehicle window and we've had a couple of incidents where my camera was almost grabbed. We travel for enjoyment and I'd like to be relaxed while we're on the road and not worry about my camera the whole time. 🤷🏻‍♂️ You're welcome to visit those suburbs and film them! 🚙😁
