Using an auto feeder distances the relationship between owner and fish. The reason I like my fish so much is because they headbutt the side of the tank as soon as they see me

Smart features are definitely interesting. I say even if these features aren't for everybody, if it brings even 1 more person into the hobby that would be awesome. Additionally, maybe it will inspire some innovation from other companies like that awesome hinge rest feature that we all know the fluval flex could have used.

The seller calls it smart but I have no working app to go with it. Completely left out of the instructions. I look again at the Amazon listing and it says "no working app" in the description. I'm sending mine back.

@@goodgravy3047 I would too tbh. I would consider this as more of a 'concept car' product. I don't blame you for being disappointed but i think it still stands true that there could be some positive externalities associated with a product like this regardless of its execution.

Now obviously this tank is a tad too small for what I'm about to mention, but I loved the auto fish feeder I used on my saltwater tanks. I had nocturnal fish that needed to be fed well after lights out and it came in super handy. Other than that, sometimes I would use it to broadcast feed certain corals really fine powdery foods.

The only thing you can keep in that is algae , or shrip . Too small for fish .

@@SequoiaElisabeth my little 5 gallon palladium, Steampunk tank is zero maintenance. It’s kind of amazing. haven’t had that luck with many others though.

Great review, thanks for the info! This tank certainly has some nice features, but at $180 it’s a ridiculously poor value compared to Fluval 7:15 Spec V. It’s got a better lid, some additional included content (heater, thermometer, feeder), but unlike Spec V you can’t customize your filter media, and the added content isn’t worth the 60% price premium. Also note replacement filter packs are an astounding $40!!! Not sure who would buy this.

Hope you have a quick and complete covid recovery. I will look forward to the future update on this tank. Personally, I must have a controllable light timer or the ability to use one on this, which is guaranteedto work. I prefer a ramp up/down setting for the light. I also use my own personal filter media. It really should come with a fahrenheit option because sometimes, the little thingsare big things. It looks like a nice little integrated tank. Easy on the eyes, clean lines, orderly placed components and no cord jumbles.

You could easily modify that 3 stage filter and 3d print a detachable door for it and put your own media in there.

You are correct, but why should you have to go to all that trouble when you’re paying huge $ for a 5 gallon tank? Spec V seems like a hugely better value, so is Flex 15.

*Looks very interesting - when you set it up, I'd be interested in you trying the risers and your thoughts on making mods. Thank you for introducing this system. I travel a lot, and have hesitated to rely on people to feed my fish. Perhaps they may make a 20 gallon one day?*

that app is the original one for that product, it's been on a market in other regions as xiaomi product for quite a while, like year+ something, so now they bring that product in your area under different brand name, i am sure they'll use same software with just easier registration

It's not my experience. I just bought the US version on Amazon and they say in the description "no working app." Huge let down and waste of my afternoon unboxing only to ship it back. The Xiaomi app doesn't connect to this, try as I have. No QR code to scan to add and it doesn't discover the aquarium when wifi scanning. I suspect that it's a non-functional wifi in the tank from China to save $ but they charge double in the States as what they charge for the Chinese version available in China.

Hello! What is the name of the app that goes with this aquarium? I just bought the same tank and i have a blinking wifi light on the tank but no information regarding the app to connect to it. The manufacturer didn't provide that information in my shipment and if i cant find a working app then back it goes! 😅 Its not so smart if i have to be physically present to push a button to feed the fish. Seems a bit disingenuous of Wonder Factory to market it as a "smart aquarium" and yet have no working app. Please share the name of the app if tours connected. Thanks! 🙏🏻

I returned mine for this exact reason. There is nothing smart about this aquarium without a working app. There isn’t one in the US.

set the app to region China mainland. After that you can connect the aquarium

Is this the final version of the tank, or are they still developing? They should get it out to hobbyists like yourself and take the feedback to make any changes prior to releasing to the public. Many would prefer a light that can be set to a 24 hour cycle instead of shocking your fish each time it comes on. Not sure how people would feel about having to use their heater, their filter, their light, etc., without being able to upgrade.

You’re not locked into their heater it’s not integrated into the lid or any “smart” feature. And it’s just 5 gallons so there plenty of small ones would fit in there. I think this tank has been available in China for awhile and perhaps the US implementation of the app is a little behind. Right with you on the light cycle. I’m wondering if I can tier it up with multiple thresholds. To be continued…. Thanks for watching.
