I traded in my 2015 S1000RR on a 2019 S1000XR triple black a few weeks ago and was surprised to find this handlebar buzz from 4500-5500 rpm. The RR was much smoother and didn’t have this. Thanks for your video. I installed the Evotech bar ends and found as you did that the buzz is substantially reduced. A mod that is well worth it.

I’ve got an S1000R and have experienced the handlebar vibrations. However, on researching the internet I found a page that suggested using Super unleaded fuel. Tried it and have never looked back ! Straight away the vibration had almost gone, something to do with the pre detention of the cleaner fuel.

Hi guys! Also had or still have the vibrating problem and ordered these Evotech bar end weights to eliminate the vibration BUT!!!!! Sorry to say they don't work at all. My hands and feet still get so extremely numb and I can't see anything in the mirrors. Wonder how BMW tested these bikes and the engineers still pay their huge salaries. Don't think I will ever encourage somebody to buy a XR just for this issue. Can somebody please explain to me how to enjoy this awesome engine and gearbox while hating every minute on the bike due to a lack of comfort!!!! Cheers

Have you tried 'Grip puppies?' Sponge grips that just slip over the original grips. They will alleviate minor vibration and only cost about £13 per pair, worth a punt.

I have a 1st generation Kawasaki Versys, aka king of vibes. Put grip puppies and HVMP bar ends (almost 500 grams) and lo and behold, no more problems.

Bar end weights do help but do nothing to stop the rest of the bike vibrating.At 70 mph,UK legal speed limit,the vibration are just appalling.The bike I tried was a new 2019 version.Having tried an earlier 2016 model and read all the guff about how the vibrations on the new models,had been largely fixed,I was disappointed to say the least.For me,I could not use this bike as a tourer,it's just too frantic,it could do with an extra couple of gears to help get rid of the vibes at motorway speed limits. Maybe next years version will be fixed,have wait and see.

BMW have effectively admitted there was a fault with the old model....as they have revised the 2017.....Many XR owners are up in arms over this.....see if your dealer will fit the new steering mounts....I had the evotech bar ends on mine...good fix for the high frequency vibes....but managed to offload my XR to a private buyer and got myself a new DVT Multistrada.....Honestly a much better bike than the XR I had....i have no regrets whatsoever selling the XR...but all the best with yours...I know you love it. Ride safe.

@BestRex7 жыл бұрын
I don't own any of them, but I test rode them both, and I have to disagree with you. XR is faster and more exciting bike to ride than a Multistrada. XR's seat is much better also: Multistrada have an uncomfortable seat. Multistrada's gearbox is plainly horrible! I test rode many bikes, and Multistrada 1200 DVT has one of the the worst gearboxes I ever rode. XR on the other hand has a good gearbox AND a quickshifter, which is a great thing to use. Also Ducati's engine is jerky on the low rpms, while BWM's is smooth. Multistrada has a better fuel consumption than the XR, and it's more comfortable too (except for the seat). But that's doesn't really matter since both of this bikes are not even close in terms of comfort to a really good big shaft adventures bike, like a Honda VFR1200XD Crosstourer, for example. That's why I believe that BMW S1000XR is overall a better bike than Ducati Multistrada 1200. The only really great thing about Multi is it looks: it's definitely one of the sexiest and beautiful bikes in the world. But other than that this motorcycle is so-so.

Actually did a test ride with the 2017 model last weekend. Vibrations are still there, but way better. Comparable to Evotech weights on pre-2017 model. In my opinion pre-2016 model with evotech weights is still better than 2017 with stock weights.

casyo Haven't been on the new one yet, but I'm sure I will. I for one won't be changing mine, as there's only minimal changes. Have seen the first issues with the new bushes on the new bike, to sort out the vibrations. People now complaining of too much play in the bars, as they are now rubber and not a harder plastic. Have seen a video on the play, and it seemed a lot!!
@casyo7 жыл бұрын
Didn't notice the play during the test ride (well, 30 minutes isn't that long), can you link or point me to the video you mentioned? I'm about to buy the 2017 model (or go for the new 1290 super adventure s), so this might be interesting :)
